Yes, they had the Devil Swing in 15 and Takeda failed there. Plus, it wasn't until Bunpei Shiratori in 16 that people actually figured out how to do it easily.

Didn't they just use an exploit? =p
That was kind of cheating, but hey, I guess whatever works... I'm sure the producers hadn't expected that. (Kinda like the log grip in 18 where people turned it )

Having 6 Jumping Bars was pretty tough. And who knew there'd be an obstacle where Nagano wasn't the first to clear it? (Instead, it was Shinji.) Yea, but who would have expected Shinji?

What was the trick exactly that Bunpei used? Was it the grab the rest bar and swing thing?

I think so. It seemed a heck of a lot easier than the trick Koji did when he was on it.

Sasuke 17 was difficult, but I think 14 and 15 were the toughest pre-18 courses as you had Metal Spin and 6 jumping Bars in the 3rd stage. But I guess this is redundant...that Devil's Swing was tough too and of course the Pipe Slider jump is ridiculous. I don't think we would have seen drastic changes if Nagano and Nagasaski hadn't of made it to the final stage and Nagano completed it.

Exactly. Had he not won, we'd still have stuff like the Rolling Log, Jump Hang, Chain Reaction and Body Prop.

But even if he just barely lost again they would have redone the course. It would be alot harder but definitly not 18 hard. I mean remember how 12 was, then 3 people made it to the Final Stage and Nagano lost by less than a second and look how different stage 1 was in 13 compared to 12. And 17 is definitly not one of the easiest, but its not one of the hardest either. I'd agree with everyone that 15 is one of the hardest, That combinations of obstacles there are tough, Metal Spin with short runup, Rumbling Dice with 6 bars on the Jumpnig Bars. Theres more but those are some of the toughest things I can think of there

Yeah, maybe they would've put one or two new obstacles into 18 had Nagano not won, but it wouldn't have been a total overhaul that had the words "we want all 100 challengers to fail" written on it.
The heat was definitely a big reason that 15 was one of the hardest courses ever. Many people were unable to get past the Warped Wall that day due to exhaustion. Amazingly, the one person that did get heat exhaustion cleared the course! Yep, we know who that is.

Still doesn't make it appropriate or right. I have to agree. At first I thought, oh he's just doing his freerunner thing. But then I thought, he's a grown man and should know how to control his impulses. I hope that showing off wasn't followed by a great big f**k up, but it would have served him right if it did.

Yeah, That would just be arrogant, I don't care how you do on your first try, even if you do make it farthur than everyone, you still failed somewhere on the course, you have no right to showboat in another country that isn't even as competitive as the one you come from, If you want to show off like that, get on American Gladiators, Now there it would be apropriate, a serious show in another country thats just being plain rude.

Yeah, I mean thats just being dumb. On a timed course is no time to be showing off. And by that logic stage 3 is a bad place to be showing off too.
