In the early anw contests when the shows were still tied to Sasuke, G4 used to often divide it up with the Japanese exclusively on Ninja Warrior and the Americans on Anw while TBS would show both. What would have happened if one of the 4 Americans reached the final or achieved total victory in 26?Would g4 air it or brush it under the carpet?

I think G4 would have had no choice but to air them together. ANW has always been selective about its history in relation to SASUKE, but that isn't something you can easily gloss over. You can fudge competitor numbers and clear rates in the earlier stages, but if an American wins the show, why would not want to feature that?

It would have aired together. The idea of a foreigner conquering the whole thing is so rare. The closest we ever got in Sasuke to that was Kane Kosugi! ANW would have made a big deal about it since they didn't have their own Midoriyama. It would have been something Japan and America would know and whoever the winner would be would go down in histroy.
But then again, nobody did.

That's why the only Americans from G4 in 25 were Levi, Brian and Rich -- because they had cleared in 23 and Monster9 had a policy where if you cleared Stage 1, you were automatically invited next tournament; it had carried over since they wanted 25 to be diverse from a competitor standpoint with the prefectures/countries represented. Since 26 and 27 were the typical distance apart, I don't see why it would change. At the very least, M9 would have probably sought out the champion to come over, if not all the First Stage clears.

I'm glad no American ever won it in Japan (because (a) having a win in the first three seasons would have been too soon and (b) it would kind of ruins Sasuke TBH), but if it happened I think they would have to air it - particularly because of the impact that success has on Sasuke's course (at least before the modern days!).

None of this matters anyway because BOTH M9 AND G4TV went down and no other G4 edited versions were ever made. Whatever arrangements they (G4/M9) had would have been null and void anyway once NBC bought the license. It was clear NBC was starting with a clean slate and the previous history didn't matter (which is why ANW3 was devoid of all Japanese and even had the ANW flag on set while they were taping Sasuke). I found out later that TBS didn't know that the G4 edits omitted the Americans from the official Ninja Warrior version until I told them.. years later (Sasuke 32). I think a lot of that has to do with the hands off policy that TBS has with sold property (the edited G4 version being it's own IP) and the fact that no one else after G4 went down made a 30 minute version that was then sold worldwide.
