There have been some odd talks about a piece breaking off of Flo and forming into Krik (which would loop right back to the East Coast), however seems worry is low. But as each day continues theres still signs it could happen. Flo has thrown a ton of surprises, so this isn't something to rule out..

Seeing a weak system that could end up becoming a named storm loop into the East Coast on models. Also have a newly formed TD11 that will die before it's named due to non fav conditions.

Getting word this thing's about to hit Category 4 before landfall. At this rate it may very well be worst than Florence!

I'm hoping because it is moving fast (Florence was stationary just about for 3 days) that this will be a quick hit and fly off the coast through land and dissipate. As it stands.. it will still be strong enough to emerge off the other side.. that's.. scary as all hell. I'm still dumbfounded with the people not moving.. storm surge alone will kill a lot of people. Now add Cat 3 winds and it will be a disaster. I'm praying it sheers before landfall. Still a devastating storm at a lower category. Uuuugh

*sigh* It's Florida. They get hammered by major hurricanes almost every year. Irma, Charlie, Wilma, countless others. Florida man they take hurricanes but... idk on the panhandle so...

Man and people said it wouldn't leave category 2... Now borderline 5... Something tells me this name is definitely going to be retired... This is terrifying...

Once it hits a 4 and comes on land, typically they retire automatically. Not to mention, third lowest pressure ever recorded + first major hurricane to ever hit that part of FL, and to make it a KO it's the third strongest storm to make landfall. Lots of records being broken and history being made. If it lasted any longer over water, it wouldve been a 5. It was 2mph away before landfall.

And just a week ago we saw it as like... meh, maybe a tropical storm at best. Oooooooomph that is a tough pill to swallow.

I wouldn't be surprised if Michael and Maria get upgraded to Cat 5 in the next few years. I was reminded yesterday that Andrew took 10 years to be reclassified into a Category 5. Just like Michael they had to extrapolate data from damage on the ground to bump it to Category 5 status. Even looking at it now.. and the fact that most of the gauges stopped reporting an hour before landfall.. this is a Category 5. It is devastating to watch the pictures and video this morning. We still don't know how many people stayed.. as of yesterday less than half evacuated ahead of the storm. I hope that number was wrong. Those houses are gone. I hope no one was in them.

Theres actually recorded data suggesting it hit Cat 5. Honestly, it had to have happen right around landfall which will make it interesting to see play out. Lots of discussion about it and I think itll be visited at the end of the year review.
