Well I thought it would be a good idea to ask those of us who wish to attempt the first stage (or already have in some cases) a few questions. Why exactly do you want to do it? What sort of training do you do if any? What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle)
I'm a high-jumper first and foremost but I play volleybal and basketball on the side for enjoyment mostly. But for most of my life, I've considered myself to be a good all-round athlete. So I'm hoping to use SASUKE, if I ever get on, as a way to test how far I've come as an athlete and how far I can still go.
As far as training goes, I don't do much outside of my various sports. I might do a quick spider climb if I find a place that allows it just to prove that I can still do it. But I would have to rely on my sport to keep me fit and strong.
As I am a high-jumper, I have relatively weak upper-body strength. So my goal in SASUKE wouldn't be to achieve toat victory. But to simply try and play to my strengths as a 6'6" giant and try and clear the first stage.
So I would like to see the reasons that drive other hopefuls on the forums and see how much you try and prepare.

Why exactly do you want to do it? -Why not? Even though you might fail the steps, if you are in the 100 people who are competiting that day, I think its worth something. Plus, being in a television show that I always loved.... Isn't that at least something?
What sort of training do you do if any? -I need to lose my fat first (gahh... jumpropes again? I need to lose little more fat before I start seeing packs). Then I have to go on intense upper body training, as it is really weak (considering that I'm a golfer, this might help in the future too.) Grip is a must because it is my weakest thing. Legs I'm not too worried about because, well, I do have enough strength in them.
What would you hope to achieve? -Just pass enough obstacles to make myself feel that I was involved in SASUKE tournament
If it wasn't for school and everything else, I would workout everyday. Unfortunately, I have to keep my grades up, I have SAT's next year with about 2 to 3 AP's (and that's lower than I expected) maybe 1 IB, and college applications after that. I'm also trying to fit internships to good places during my Junior year to gain more experience/make it look good for college.
Oh well, I guess when I'm 21 or older, I will be prepared.

Why exactly do you want to do it? - It looks fun and I want to know if it's really as hard as it looks.
What sort of training do you do if any? - A lot of things, but not parkour or free running.
What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle) - I'm in it to win it. First American, baby. REPRESENTIN'!

Why exactly do you want to do it? - I think it would be one of the greatest feelings in the world overall to get to go to Japan and then just participate in a competition I dearly love, and to top it off be on TV
What sort of training do you do if any? - Hours a day I train cardio, then every night I have my own course and I try running it faster and faster, then adding more obstacles to make it more difficult
What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle) - I think getting to the Final Stage would just blow my mind with excitement, that'd good enough for me. Passing the final stage would just be unreal
Failing Stage 1 or even Stage 2 would be a failure to me

Why exactly do you want to do it? I would like to test myself, see how far I would get. Then again, being on a show that is so awesome as this.. That would be just enough for me.
What sort of training do you do if any? I do a lot of cardio/endurance training. I don't do any parkour or free running, though I do run a lot in races. My upper body is kind of weak, but that could fixed by plenty of training. I hope to eventually have an obstacle course that fits a lot of the implements that goes with the Sasuke course.
What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle)
man, passing Stage one would be awesome just for me. Anything past that would be a bonus. And I always work hard on those bonus's. -.o

]Why exactly do you want to do it? - I've had a weird obsession over the obstacles. I don't know why I like Ninja Warrior over... say basketball, but oh well.
Maybe its the teamwork involved, the friendly atmosphere, maybe that.
What sort of training do you do if any? -I just made monkey bars, and whenever I'm bored, I just go on them. Its a great, fun and productive way to spend my time anyways.
What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle) - I don't know really. Just anyway I can be associated in Sasuke would be awesome. Weather its beating the course, or even working there.

Why exactly do you want to do it? To test my physical abilty, see where i am compared to other athletes so i know where i stand, and how i can improve What sort of training do you do if any? talk to me when im not over-weight What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle) If i culd get to the Jumping Spider that'd be enough. If i get past it, then the warped wall would be absolutely mind-boddling. And rope ladder, holy f***ing s***! But i kno tht wont happen. I figure if i'm there, Log Grip takes me

Why exactly do you want to do it?
It'd be fun...it'd hurt like hell...but it would be fun What sort of training do you do if any?
Jumping Spider, Trampoline, Warped Wall, Cliff Hanger, HPA and Downhill Jump when I'm skateboarding.
What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle)
3rd Stage, although, I'd be fine if I beat the Salmon Ladder.

Unrealistically that's what everyone wants. Well, not everyone here even wants to run the course, but I'd say Kanzenseiha is a pretty respectable goal. At the risk of being off-topic, I'd absolutely LOVE to be there with clipboard, accounting charts, and pencils to keep excruciatingly detailed records of... well, just about everything from obstacle design specifications, to statistics on contestant performance, the relation of the two in regards to minor changes in obstacles from tournament to tournament, et cetera. I'm a numbers guy and a game show nut, and Sasuke is a fairly pure game show in a genre that is woefully under represented in the United States. Let's just say there wouldn't be any question on these forums of how Shinji Kobayashi did on the course if I were there. I'd have spreadsheets. Spreadsheets are fun!

I don't see why it's such an unrealistic goal.

I'd be there as Captain Obvious' assistant, trying my best to respectfully extract from each contestant their past records on the course (call it polite interrogation), including stuff like qualifying attempts, as well as obstacle details, like their names (their real names). Oh, and I'd give Tomino Keita a hug. I reckon he probably needs one.

Why exactly do you want to do it? Because it's insane. I have a knack for wanting to tackly only the toughest challenges that I know of. This one is strange... it both feels within my reach, but also so incredibly difficult to even get to the starting line... I gotta do this. I gotta keep pushing until I either get there, or am not able to get there for whatever reason.
What sort of training do you do if any? Bike-riding, pullups, Globe Grasp Obstacle, Rock Climbing, Pipe Slider, Salmon Ladder, and analysis of Sasuke Tournaments (Crucial IMHO).
What would you hope to achieve? That's tough, because if I get to a certain point, I expect of myself to get further. For example:
I expect of myself to get to Sasuke. If I get that far, I expect of myself to beat the Jumping Spider. If I beat that, I then expect to beat the First Stage. If I beat that, I then expect myself to beat the Salmon Ladder. If I beat that, I then expect myself to beat the Second Stage. If I beat that, I then expect myself to beat the Devils Steps. If I beat that, I then expect myself to beat the Shin-Cliffhanger (Although this one would be quite a feat, but I'm doing as much grip-strength training, finger-strength training, and rock-climbing through bouldering as possible). If I beat that, I then expect myself to beat the Spider Jump. Naturally, if I beat that, I then expect myself to beat the whole third stage.
Of course, somewhere along there I will fail, so no matter what, the point is that I would leave frustrated with myself. Only with beating the 3rd stage would I be satisfied with myself, but that's just not going to happen my first time going to Sasuke, if that even happens.

Why exactly do you want to do it? -The fact that I can make a fool of myself somehow on international TV would be a major fun point in my life What sort of training do you do if any? -I honestly need to lose weight, best I do is walking with occasional running (and that's because of ROTC ) What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle) -I know for a fact I won't get any futher than Jumping Spider with my current body shape, that is if the Log Grip doesn't take me out, but I'm fairly confident I can get past the steps, and hopefully my grip can hold up on the second obstacle (damn spoilers).

Why exactly do you want to do it? - I LOVE obstacle courses. What sort of training do you do if any? - I feel I don't train as much as I should. But I think peopel train WAAAY to much in upper body strength and endurance hoping they'd get to stage 3. Honestly, I'm a weak guy and the only obstacle I know I can't do in the entire course is the shin-cliffhanger. And I've been practicing for it pretty extensively. As long as I work on my endurance a bit more, and my rope climbing skills, I don't see why I couldn't get to the final stage granted I don't screw up on the JS, SJ, or Downhill Jump because honestly ANYONE can fail those, as we've seen. What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle) - I'd want to beat the whole thing obviously, but realistically I think It's safe to say I'd fail either the jumping spider or Cliff-hanger. If I could beat the cliffhanger I'd be incredibly happy, and I don't see myself failing stage 3 if I could beat that, at that point It'd be a time-out on the rope for the final stage.

But i NEED to comment on this. Jordan, lets get this straight... ur 16, weak, no sasuke experience. And u think Stage 3. Lets go thru this again, ur 16 WEAK and u say stage 3. Now lets compare shall we? Fire Fighter- Takeda- posterboy for firefighters in Japan, sasuke all-star, never beat stage 3 PRO rock climber lee enchi- cant be stage 2 olympic athlete- cant be stage salmon ladder PRO freerunner Brian Orasco- cant be stage 2 PRO freerunner Levi Meeuwenberg- cant be stage 3 Nagano- cant be shin sasuke stage 3 World Cup competitor Shunsuke Nagasaki, your favorite- HASNT BEATEN STAGE 3 So once again, YOU a 16 year old think u can beat stage 3. Your offically a dumbass

Please, let's not drag this thread down with raging debates over who could do what. The 'dumbass' comment is completely unnecessary and turns the above post into a flame. Take it to PMs if you must.

Blind: I easily have the skills to beat stages 1 and 2, that doesn't tak emuch upper body strength which is the main thing I'm lacking in.
I have devil steps I practice on, arm rings are easy, decending globe grasp is easy, jumping bars are easy as I do them ALL the time, I'm am an AMAZING rock climber for the hang glimbing, and I have the perfect place to practice the spider flip which is much easier than it looks.
And now that I can do my pipe slider the gliding ring should be a peace of cake, shin-cliffhanger is the only one I'm not psyichally able to do.
But this isn't the place to talk about this, PM me if you want.
And I don't appreciate the rude comments, you don't know how strong I am besides my videos I posted over a year ago, I've improved a LOT, I train everyday.
No wonder you have -50 karma.

"Why exactly do you want to do it?" I would hopefully like to be recognized as a great athletic talent in the world if I could do well on it. Plus, I like obstacle courses haha.
"What sort of training do you do if any?" My typical schedule consists of training six days a week with lower body and core workouts being on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and upper body workouts being on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I used to do only many reps of pushups, pullups, dips, situps, and running. Now, I do much more bodyweight-plus and free weight training. I have noticed gains in the ammount of repetitions in my bodyweight exercises, and I have noticed better physical results as well. However, I still do regular bodyweight exercises as well. Occasionally, I'll practice some of the obstacles I may be worried about.
"What would you hope to achieve? (Total victory, beat certain stage/obstacle)" If I got on Sasuke, anything less than getting to the third stage would be unacceptable for me. I feel that I should not get the opportunity to compete on Sasuke unless I'm in top physical condition. And if I did worse than get to the third stage, I would feel I had taken a spot from a more deserving competitor.

Why exactly do you want to do it? Testing my physical limits is what I do almost every day. This is just another thing for me to conquer. The best feeling in the world to me is when you have nothing physicaly left in your body but you push yourself past it knowing only more pain is to come.
What sort of training do you do if any? Weight lifting, Body weight movements, Running, Learning static gymnastic holds, and played and excelled at many different sports through childhood up to being an adult.
What would you hope to achieve? Hope to achieve... Total Victory. Realisticly I would be happy to make it to the 3rd stage.
