Heat 4 course: - Floating Steps - Giant Wheel to Bag Grab - Escalator - Parallel Pipes with Rings - Flying Shelf Grab - Warped Wall Results: 10 clears tonight, 40 semi-finalists overall. Thoughts: Another good heat from NWUK, liked obstacle choices - seemed nice and balanced and also loved seeing the return of Toby Segar and especially Teige MP. Overall, the heats this year have been well done, best so far in my opinion. Good editing - ANW could really learn a thing or two here, decent obstacle choices (apart from ring jump and 'silk slider'), and an abundance of returning competitors which is always going to make me happy. Looking forward, the semis course is... well... interesting. Some good obstacle choices but also one in particular that has no place on that course and another that is about 5 positions later than it should be. Looking forward to it though, especially with this strong competitor field. Hoping this series can keep up the good work, despite the fact that the show itself has leaked the final result . Typical NWUK. I'm still waiting for the year with no glaring flaw which leaves a bitter aftertaste. Anyway, here's the semis course for all interested (this DOES contain obstacle spoilers, no results spoilers though): Semi-final course: - Floating Steps - UFO - Broken Bridge - Wingnuts - Pole Grasper - Warped Wall - Momentum Shift (Catch and Release) - Broken Pipes - Rope Climb

One thing I didn't like is the repeating of the Escalator, everything else is fine... I do like the obstacle but I think balance is something that should be swapped out when possible to keep things nice and spicy.

They could probably get two balance obstacles for one by using the Paddle Boards, and then taking the paddles off to make the Rolling Log. I would guess both of those could use the same structure, with the central pole being tightened for the Paddle Boards?
While we're at it, the Escalator is another obstacle which could appear in each heat with a heavy modification.
One heat could have the regular, another could have a missing step or two, another where each step is separated into two individually-swinging footholds, another with every two steps being attached to one another with a string and swinging together and another where you would have to hang from the steps and climb under them without letting your feet touch the water (tho that's more upperbody/core). But yeah, you could definitely get five simple variations of the Escalator.

That's exactly what they did in series 2... and why they would NEVER do it again. Anyone who saw the series 2 final knows what I mean.

Ehh I figure they could make the boards closer to the central axis or make there fewer boards, that would probably make it easier (Paddle Boards is one of the easier balances on ANW as it requires simple agility rather than ability to navigate a spinning obstacle)

First semi was ok (cannot stand Jacobs show-boating), felt that splitting the rolling log into two was a poor choice though.

I love that they're calling the Wingnuts, one of the most intimidating obstacles to debut since the VLK, "The Flying Sombreros".

Semi-final two was aired tonight, here's a link to the top twenty leaderboard:
Overall, another good episode, liked the semis course more than I was expecting and it's nice to see so many returning competitors in the top twenty.
Finals start next week and I am NOT a fan of the 'eliminator' (i.e. stage 1) course.
