Hopefully the veterans will be invited back. Not like the disaster of 3.

I actually don't think ninja warrior UK is all that bad. First off, people say the course is a cakewalk compared to anw, but the show is only at a 5th season and has gotten harder over time. Season 4 was far better than any other season. I don't mind the laughing of the hosts because it's a cultural thing and I'm used to it because i'm from the uk myself.

Ninja warrior UK is The worst of all. They won't let top competitors/sasuke dedicated ninjas to be on the course. Instead, they invite you to audition and just laughs afterwards of you. You smash every obstacle, but they will invite a guy who was next to you who can hardly do 5 clean pull ups. In the meantime, you scored perfect everywhere else(or near perfect). And it doesn't look the course is getting harder in UK, Opposite I'd say. How many of top Ninjas have you seen from previous seasons?

Trust me, Ninja Warrior UK is not the worst. Don't get me wrong it's far from brilliant and like you said they don't like inviting back many previous competitors (it was fine in series 2 but in series 3 only 6 were invited back and in series 4 only 10). However, the course is getting harder and more up-to-date with obstacles like tick tock, bar hop, swinging pegboard, grab bag, big dipper etc. Plus if you look back to season 1 not only were the obstacles easy as but they also shook all over the place (look at competitors on the salmon ladder) and anyway many European spin-offs have worse obstacles, format and are also indoors. Also, the tone this year was a whole lot more serious with far less joke competitors than in series 1-3. I think that series 4 shows promise for future series - yes it took them a while but they're finally getting the course right but I do agree that they need to bring back much more returning competitors - I have put a list below containing people I definitely want back (all competitors who reached stage 2 minus Owen plus some female competitors, some of my favourites and people who have devoted loads to the show but didn't get invited back):
Tim Shieff, Tiege Mathews-palmer, Tim Champion, Jonny Urzuly, Corbin Mackin, Toby Segar, Ali Hay, Bruce Winfield, Fred Dorrington, Jacob Peregrine-Wheller, Cain Clarke, Deren Perez, Mike Snow, Brendan Riley, Sam West, Sebastian Foucan, Dion Trigg, Ruel DaCosta, Callum Hardingham, Katie McDonell, Georgia Munroe, Saskia Neville, Charlie Martin, Hayley Ray (and I probably others who I have forgotten & sorry for any butchered names - doing this off memory).

When I was in audition this year. I've been told this by one of crew members before we started doing tests/ obstacles. It doesn't matter that you are going to smash every single obstacle/test here. Ninja warrior is a Saturday night show for entire family we don't want anybody who is salty or... on the course. We want people to have fun and so on and so on. Which did sound like a complete non sense to me.
It made me think, why am I trying.... again...

I agree the focus should be more so on actual athletes and returning people, but the average competitor fitness has been increasing year by year. As much as we'd like otherwise, what they say is true. It IS a Saturday night show and there needs to be a variety of people for the show to be a success. ANW does it by filling those slots with sob stories early on, while Ninja Warrior UK mostly focuses on gag competitors instead, Kunoichi focuses on objectifying competitors etc... It is no different from any other show in that regard. Aside from maybe Sasuke what you say is true to some degree for literally every ninja show out there. The show has been getting better. It still has MAJOR flaws (returning competitors, lack of prize money etc...) but it has been improving. Saying the show is the worst when that isn't even remotely true compared to shows like X-Warrior, Turkey, Ninja Warrior Netherlands and many others just isn't constructive.

Filming dates for those interested, Heats: 14th-17th August Semi Finals: 20th and 21st August Final: 23rd and 24th August That must mean they are sticking wit the NWUK series 4 format of 4 heats, a 2 part semi and a 2 part final. I hope the producers will finally get the message about returning competitors, if they fix that I'll be happy.

Good news regarding returning competitors: several past finalists/strong contenders like Dean Cheetham (A Series 4 finalist) who have actively been training have been invited back and it seems the casting team are going for a slightly stronger field this year. Also, Corbin Mackin and Ruel Dacosta are back, along with invites for the three Last Men Standing and other strong S4 competitors like Ali Hay and Deren Perez, and most if not all of the strong females from last year too. No Dion though

Have you heard if Toby Segar, Tim Champion, and Teige Matthews-Palmer got called back. I also hope Dion Trigg, Jonny Urszuly, Tim Shieff, Mike Snow, Sebastian Foucan, Sam West, and Brendan Riley to return.

Toby Segar and Teige are not back as far as I know, but I think (I may be mistaken), that Teige doesn't even apply anymore, and a few of the earlier major competitors started course testing on the other internation spinoffs, which could potentially account for Toby and Tim's absences, because I've heard nothing about them. Dion Trigg isn't back, a shame I know. Jonny Urszuly and the other Last Men Standing are back, as are Ali Hay and Deren Perez (if his crowdfunding for flights over is successful), but I've heard nothing on the other Stage 2/3 finalists from last year, however if Ali and Deren were invited, there's a good chance they could've been too.

I never expected to look on here and see all these returning competitors, I guess they got the message: IT'S GREAT!!!!!!!!! Mike probably didn't get selected because he still competes on the Australian version and I don't think they like that. I know for a fact that Tim Champion tests - I've seen him actually on the TV in France and behind the scenes in germany. I don't think Teige bothers applying after season 3. Can't wait for season 5 with all these returning competitors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can confirm that Cain Clarke was NOT invited this year, however it is worth noting that a good chunk of those that were selected (Dion, Dean etc...) were seemingly picked as a last resort to replace injuries, no shows etc... which isn't exactly a good sign moving forward. They were picked outright, someone just realised they were the right people to fill gaps.
