15 Questions. 3 Lifelines. No time limit. Are you willing to risk it all? Welcome to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire!
After binging on various Millionaire clips and episodes, I became inspired to revive something that has been done before on SMF: chat-based Millionaire games. The general gameplay is the same, it will just be taking place in a chatroom. Speaking of that chatroom, it will not take place in the forum's chat. It will instead take place in the SASUKE & Ninja Warrior Community Discord run by thatoneuser. Note: SMF is NOT affiliated with the Discord, Alex just has graciously allowed me to host it there. You must be a member of the Discord in order to participate; the link to the Discord is here: discord.gg/hfkFTbM. On Friday, June 1st, at 8:00pm EDT, we're looking to play. You must be available if chosen.
The general gameplay is the same:
Answer 15 questions of increasing difficulty, earning (virtual) money at each level, ranging from $100 all the way to $1 Million. There is no time limit. Also, I am asking every contestant to abide by the honor rule: no cheating, or otherwise looking up questions if you are a contestant. No one who will view the game may help the contestant. And just to be upfront: SASUKEpedia has become an inconsistent source, and there are trap questions taking advantage of misinformation to catch cheaters. Don't be embarrassed by that sort of thing.
You have three lifelines to help you:
- Plus One: You're allowed one person to assist you on a question. Once you lock in your answer, your Plus One is removed from the game. Your Plus One is not allowed to look up the question. You are allowed to walk away after using this lifeline.
- 50:50: Two incorrect answers are removed, leaving just one incorrect answer and the correct answer. You are allowed to walk away after using this lifeline.
- Double Dip: You are allowed two guesses to the question you use this lifeline on. You are NOT allowed to walk away after using this lifeline; you are committed to answer the question. You will either advance or you game will end. You are NOT allowed to use other lifelines when you're under Double Dip. You MAY use a lifeline before using Double Dip.
There's also a special lifeline you may obtain should you successfully answer the $32,000 question (question ten):
- Revive: You are allowed to revive one of your used lifelines. You must have used a lifeline before reaching the $32,000 question to have access to this lifeline. If you reach the $32,000 without using a lifeline, you are not given this lifeline.
This lifeline configuration may seem overly helpful. That's because the subject matter is general knowledge throughout SASUKE and other shows (KUNOICHI, VIKING, Sportsman No. 1, Banzuke and its assorted spin-off). These questions may ask about competitors, competitions, events, locales and even music. There will be questions involving things you may not be aware of. That's where the lifelines come in. Use them well.
I made enough for four games worth, but I would say no more than two may be used depending on general results. So, how will we decide contestants? EDIT: Anyone who is interested may show up the night of and before the official game starts, a fastest finger qualifier will occur. Any other questions, feel free to ask and I will answer when I can. Good luck!
Special thanks:
Eclipse & yamfriend for research and question writing (PS: they are NOT allowed to be your Plus One)
thatoneuser for allowing the game to take place on his server
