I just realized we probably should have had KUNOICHI applications by now. Wonder if they're going down to one a year to accommodate a second SASUKE. I thought last year (this year) Kunoichi was announced after Sasuke however it was recorded and premiered before Sasuke?

Every season we see the 'this is the last SASUKE' posts. This is the first year where I feel certain it is NOT the last year. Frequent tournament, global success, Jessie hype. I feel like things are going okay this time around. .. in Japan? Well.... Maybe that's just my own Jessie hype translating into a hope that she was well received in Japan

Sasuke 33 was announced in October, taped in February, aired in March. Kunoichi 9 was announced in December, taped in January, aired in February.
Kunoichi 10 was announced in March (when apps started), taped in June, aired in July. Sasuke 34 was announced May (I can't remember if it was confirmed beforehand, but May is when the application process started), taped in July, aired in October.
Both Kunoichi tournaments aired during the month Sasuke taped (K9 aired during Sasuke taping, K10 aired during the beginning of the month, Sasuke taped towards the end). So there's still time for Kunoichi to go through its entire process before Sasuke even tapes, which we're not nearly at that point of knowing when it will. If that doesn't happen, I think it's more along the lines of either forming a schedule that isn't so hectic (4 shows from October 2016 to October 2017 is a significant amount of work given Folcom does other shows) or a instance where they may put more effort in Kunoichi so they wait (more of a pipedream).

Jessie represented everything that is lacking in Japan.. so let's say while they like her personally she just put a mirror on the rest of the Japanese including the men. There's no hype also for something that almost no one watched less you forget that the ratings were actually worse than before. No one cares anymore.

For some reason, I have an instinct that this may be the last SASUKE tournament. If anyone notice, the application only lasted for a month. I just hope for the best and more new obstacles plz. I don't think Sasuke will end anytime soon, I also believe that Sasuke 35 will get good ratings because a lot of people generally enjoyed Sasuke 34.

With the uncertainty of SASUKE, things may go well and bad at the same time. With the hype? of SASUKE 34, the only hope we can use for is that TBS knows how to use this chance to promote SASUKE and keeping it alive or else it may or will end up dead (last thing we all want).

Like was said before, 34 actually got lower ratings than in the past. The quality of a program does not always mean people will go out of their way to watch it. TBS couldn't care enough to put out an ad until two days before 34 even came out. Didn't get something like a King's Brunch feature either and TBS owns the network that airs that particular program.
I don't mean to sound cynical to the point of destroying any optimism, it's more that you shouldn't put much stock in them. Your personal optimism in the show almost always is more than the network that airs it.

I'll be the cynical one then lol. I don't have high hopes for this tournament.
There's only gonna be like 1 new obstacle, Stage 2 will be exactly the same boring af stage it's been the past 5 years. For anyone that even just casually trains, Stage 1 is a joke and Stage 2 is a bit harder (just the Backstream-Reverse Conveyor-Wall Lift combo) but still seems like child's play compared to ANW's. With like no progression, the course just becomes insane halfway through Stage 3. I get that they don't have an NBC budget but I mean, KuroOvi likely has an even lower budget, and is literally a free Youtube show yet they have some very very creative obstacles. No excuses.
They are gonna have yet another roster of which only a quarter even 1) care about the show and 2) have a rat's a** chance at beating the 1st stage. This is what happens when their trials aren't a course, and rather an interview and an absolutely stupid push up contest. They could bring in some more foreigners but we all know how they feel about gaijins. Even then, if they wanted to they could bring in some really good Japanese climbers and the like but nooooo, despite the fact that the ratings are always s*** they are still gonna have boy band members that fail the steps instead of trying something new.

Wonderful news I look forward to SASUKE 35 the UCCH+VLK will get smashed in this one It's also going to be cooooooooooold... Aaaaand this basically sums up why we're not getting a Final Stage attempt for the fourth tournament in a row. As a matter of fact, Philip's point about the crazy (no pun intended) change in difficulty halfway through Stage 3 shows a major flaw with what's currently wrong with the course in my opinion. Even without any drastic changes happening this time around (which is likely going to be the case), the UCCH+VLK is still too ridiculous of an obstacle combo to expect anyone to do, let alone give a chance to anyone outside of someone who's trained for that specific type of obstacle for years. In other words, I also really feel like the difficulty level needs to be spread out across the earlier stages and concentrated less upon a single spot in the middle of the Third Stage. Some people might argue that the same thing happened during early Shin-SASUKE, but the difference is that very few people were making it to Stage 3 then due to the difficulty of the first two stages. The difficulty was spread out, and although the SCH was tough for its time, it was primarily the lone jump that was the tough part. On the other hand, the UCCH+VLK requires two jumps, a difficult transition between them, and then two more intense transitions, all without a break (which is even tougher under cold conditions like 33 and almost certainly 35). Even the top few competitors we've seen in regards to this type of training (Yuuji, Ryo, Morimoto, Kawaguchi, Drew, etc.) can't do it consistently in practice nor competition (if at all), and virtually everyone else who can get there is doomed to fail the first jump of the UCCH. Bottom line: I'm not getting my hopes up for a Final Stage attempt yet again, and if future tournaments continue ending around the same spot in Stage 3 if it's not modified to be easier ASAP, it's bound to affect the ratings too. This, combined with a lack of advertising like was the case with 34, is making me feel dismal once again about the future of SASUKE.

I don't think the UCH+VLK really needs to changed too much. Perhaps they should consider a different, less slick paint/surface for the VLK. But they should definitely increase the difficulty of stage 1 and stage 2. People are sleep walking through them now and it's not fun to watch, especially with how much attention they're giving to celebrities which bloats the % of time we spend on stage 1 and 2.

I think the first two stages do need to increase in difficulty quite a bit but I have no problem with the difficulty of the third stage. The course is supposed to be the worlds/ one of the worlds hardest obstacle courses so it should be incredibly difficult. Besides, the course testers can do it, hence why it is in the course, if they couldn't do it, it would not be in the course. However, you are not wrong. I agree with much of what you say, I believe that if less people were reaching the third stage then it would more entertaining I guess.
