OK, I have seen this, but keep in mind there will be some bias considering the UK is where I live. So here we go.
Pros: All 3 last men standing returning was cool even though I despise Owen Mckenzie for obvious reasons, floating steps was much better then the repetitive quintuple steps (Yes I know they were introduced in ANW8.), Timothy Shieff not getting back stabbed, spin bridge with 5 balls is a small change but strangely cool to see, flying shelf was handled well.
Cons: Tic Tock and Tyre jump hang are terrible.
Overall, I did enjoy this. I agree that ninja warrior UK is not very good, but I love it and if this episode shows anything, it is improving from the travesty that was series 3. I hope we see more returning competitors, here is a list of people I want to see again, despite being very unlikely. (Tim Champion (Adore this guy.), Toby Segar, Teige Matthews-Palmer, Corbin Mackin, Ruel Dacosta, Chris West (This guy seemed to have quite a bit of potential), Patrick Pretorious (Love this guy, probably butchered his name.), Callum Hardingham, Katie Mcdonall and Cain Clarke.) Overall, good episode, hoping for a good series.

Not bad an ep. They surely toned down the amount of comedy, the shots of competitors in the waiting to run zone were nice. The spin bridge with 5 balls was better than 4 balls, the flying shelf grab and floating steps were nice to see. A step up from the terrible season 3.

Here is a preview for the 2nd qualifying course of the season. They seem to be mixing up four obstacles per heat with the steps/wall staying the same. This time we have the Big Dipper into a fly wheel, ANW 7's Coin flip, a weird Flying Squirrel/Jump Hang hybrid and the Ring Jump from last year's finals.

Nice course. Stage 1 is looking great this season. Fingers crossed s2 and s3 are a step up too.

While I didn't quite enjoy episode 2 as much as episode 1, probably due to the return of the Last Men Standing last week, and while this one did have a bit more silliness/more costumed competitors, I still think this proved last week wasn't a fluke because there were still an abundance of serious/strong competitors compared to previous seasons. I also love that each episode starts with a strong competitor rather than an insta-fail.

What's wrong with that? Assume itself had loads of those people in its early days!

What's wrong with that? Assume itself had loads of those people in its early days! Nothing in itself wrong with it, but they tend to bring out the less silly side of the announcers/presentation too. So too many of them equals a less serious/jokier episode overall.

And I know Warrior UK has had the opposite problem

Anyone have any word on if Tim Champion is returning?

Has anyone found word that none or a couple of the veterans from last year ever made it this season? Katie McDonnell was not mentioned and neither was Tim Champion. Almost everyone in this season are new competitors.
Yesterday's episode started the semifinals.

No Toby Segar, Teige Matthews-Palmer, or Corbin Mackin either. The issue isn't fixed

It's really strange how the show treats their veterans. As an American who somewhat follows the series, season 3 was a big shock. Season 4 is better but still missing key people. You would think the ones who are popular would be invited back as they might bring in more viewers.

Almost everyone in this season are new competitors. Yesterday's episode started the semifinals. Katie McDonnell I believe was injured, but it still doesn't excuse the others. The show seems allergic to inviting back S1/2 competitors that aren't Last Men Standing or Katie. I can remember Corbin Mackin venting online that he wasn't even given an audition for the 2nd straight season. Dion Trigg didn't get an interview. Toby and Tim Champion have been ignored too, and I believe Teige didn't even bother applying this time around - due to putting in so much training going into Season 3 and not getting an audition. I agree that the issue has been somewhat fixed, but the show still needs to go back to how it did things in Season 2 - inviting back practically all previous finalists that apply. Inviting back the Last Men Standing, a scattering of Series 3 finalists and a few internationals just isn't enough. Still think this season is an improvement though.

So they've added a new, one-episode round to the show called the "Elimination Night". Seems to be a marginal upgrade in difficulty based on the semis, before a presumably bigger increase before the Finals. Not really getting the point of this. Surely a two-episode final with double the finalists as previous seasons would've been healthier for the show overall (more potential Stage 1/2 clears), but they're having another round to presumably cut the field in half leading to the same 15 finalists as past years. Still, at least we have an actually new obstacle in the Bag Catch. The first original one I think we've ever had on the show...

Is this Stage 1 of the final or is this whole new round altogether.

Is this Stage 1 of the final or is this whole new round altogether. They aren't being particularly clear about that, I'm only guessing that it is a new round. They don't mention advancing to Stage 2 at the end of this video, or call these nine obstacles Stage 1 like they have before, so I think this is just another stepping stone. Then again, they didn't mention the elimination round in the semis, just the finals. It really is anyone's guess. I think we'll have to wait until the actual episode to find out.

I'm pretty sure this is just Stage 1 since they mentioned anyone who fails is eliminated. By "grand final" I think they just mean the final episode. What I'm really unsure of is how they are determining furthest the fastest this season. What metric put Chloe Henry's Bar Hop fail ahead of Owen Drew's?
