The Sasuke Awards!

So to keep us occupied until either ninja fest airs or Sasuke 23 rolls around, I've come up with an award system where we can all decide on the best things about Sasuke.

Here's how it works.

Basically, there are 17 categories that I will post. I'll need nominees for each category. There should be about 3-7 for each award.

Reply to this thread with your nominees on each award, and the most popular ones will make it through to the next thread.

From there I will put up the nominees and everyone will PM me with their final votes and then the winners will be announced.

Now, what times everything happens I'm not sure, but it should end around late may.

Here are the categories:

Here are a few confusing ones

Best Comeback: This means someone who should fail ends up making a comeback and beating the stage. Examples are Jordan jotchev in Sasuke 8, where he had trouble ont he warped wall, but ended up passing with 0 seconds on the clock.

Another Is Bunpei with heart Exhaustion, coming back and making it to stage 3.

Most Touching Moment: Like when Akiyama finally beat the first stage again, when Nagano beat the entire course, etc...

Best Stage Finish: Meaning someone who had an incredible end to their stage run.

Examples would be say Nagano beating stage 1 with 30 seconds left, or Koji Yamada being #1 and beating stage 1, or Shingo flying up the rope thinking he might fall, but passes with 1 second left.

Biggest Surprise: This can be anything such as Akiyama returning to Sasuke 20 and being #1, or some newcomer getting far into the course, or even an all-star losing early on and shocking everyone Like Akiyama on the quintuple steps.

Best Sasuke Debut: Who made the best first impressions? People like Jotchev who got to the final stage his first try, Levi, Koji who came in at #1? Those kinds of things.

Also remember: NO Sasuke 22 spoilers. There are 21 other tournaments to choose from, and I think this'll be a more popular thread in this section. Plus people who havn't seen Sasuke 22 can vote.

I want to start nominating, but a couple of issues: first, what are some examples of odd jobs?

Secondly, I've never heard any of the Sasuke songs, especially since for the most part I am relegated to G4 telecasts, where there IS no Sasuke music. (Not to mention I don't even KNOW the names of the songs.) Where can I find the music?

Other than that, I ought to have some ready.

Odd jobs: Shingo Yamamoto - Gas Station Manager, Yuuji Urushihara - Shoe Salesman.

Pretty much competitors who have wierd jobs, but still end up doing good should be nominated.

I mean, a gas station manager job isn't very exerting. But firefighters and fishermen get into shape FROM their jobs.

It's an award for the people who do well despite their odd jobs.

There are plenty more, I'm just too tired to think right now, but those are 2 good examples.

Most Depressing Failure: Toyohisa Ijima just timing out on the Rope Climb in 11, Shingo Yamamoto just timing out after the Wall Lift in 13, Katsumi Yamada falling off the side of the mat after jumping off the Pipe Slider in 6, Shingo Yamamoto timing out on the Rope Climb after falling backwards from the goal platform in 8, Katsumi Yamada failing the Warped Wall in 8 (his first retirement), Katsumi Yamada failing the Warped Wall in 17 (another retirement, saddened the All-Stars and made Nagano cry), Daisuke Nakata falling from the Arm Rings after enduring much pain in his damaged hands and wrists in 17.

Best Stage Finish: Kazuhiko Akiyama clearing just under the wire in 11 after so many Stage 1 failures following his total victory, Shoei falling off the goal platform on the Rope Climb but still managing to make it to the top before time ran out in 8, Jordan Jovtchev finishing with all 0's on the clock in 8, Brian Orosco diving for the button after the Rope Ladder and clearing Stage 1 with less than a second left in 21, Toshihiro Takeda decimating Stage 1 with 32.4 seconds left in 14, Shinji Kobayashi kicking the button in 14, Kota Honma finally becoming the youngest person to clear Stage 1 in 17.

Most Touching Moment: Katsumi Yamada failing the Warped Wall in what was supposed to be his retirement in 8 (and then going on to finish the stage anyway), Makoto Nagano achieving total victory in 17, Bunpei Shiratori coming back from heat exhaustion to make it to Stage 3 in 15, Kazuhiko Akiyama clearing Stage 1 in 11 after so many consecutive failures following his victory, Brian Orosco clearing Stage 1 in 21 just under the wire with a dramatic dive for the red button, Kane Kosugi crying in the rain following his Final Stage failure in 8, and Sasuke 19 ending on such a dismal note following the failure of the last man standing, Yuji Washimi, in Stage 2.

Best Comeback: Kazuhiko Akiyama in 11 after so many consecutive stage 1 failures, Bunpei Shiratori overcoming heat exhaustion to make it to Sasuke 15, Stage 3, Jordan Jovtchev's spectacular 0.00 Stage 1 finish in 8, Shoei falling from the goal platform on the Rope Climb but recovering to finish Stage 1 in 8.

Best Female Competitor: Luci Romberg, Chie Tanabe (Nishimura), Masami Yusa, Yuko Mizuno, Hibari (if I can count a transsexual).

Biggest Surprise: Makoto Nagano failing the Flying Chute in 19, Shunsuke Nagasaki failing the Flying Chute in 19, Koji Yamada clears Stage 1 while wearing #1 in 12, Shingo Yamamoto timing up after his leg was trapped by the Wall Lift in 13, Bunpei Shiratori falling on the Balance Tank in 14, Kazuhiko Akiyama accidentally touching the water on the Quintuple Step in 9, and Ku Honpei slipping into the water before he even tried the Sextuple Step in 21.

Best Sasuke Debut: Jordan Jovtchev (Sasuke 8), Levi Meeuwenberg (Sasuke 20), Koji Yamada (Sasuke 12), Terukazu Ishikawa (Sasuke 14), Toshihiro Takeda (Sasuke 5), Travis Schraeder (Sasuke 4), Takamasa Nagasaki (Sasuke 18; I pick him because he was the first to beat the Shin-Sasuke course).
