My thoughts on the stage 2 :
2 : 1. Giant Ring Swing was great this time ! 2. Criss Cross Salmon Ladder . I don't know what happen to the down up . But i think the criss cross is less creative 3. Wave Runner . No problem 4. Swing Surfer . Good obstacle, it is exciting to watch 5. Wingnuts Alley . The distance is just ridicilous 6. Wall Flip . No problem
Stage 3 :
1. Floating Board 2. Keylock Hang why did they swap them ? Starting with Keylock Hang will be better i guess . Also, i'm tired of those boards . 3. Nail Clipper Glad the nail clipper isn't as deadly as cleveland. 4. Cliffhanger they need to make a unique cliffhanger next year 5. Body Prop I think a body prop as 5th obstacle isnt fair . Looks at Bungee Rope Climb, Propeller Bar, Pole Grasper ! 6. Pegcloud The pegcloud is a great and challenging obstacle . It is unique and compelex . Joe claimed the pegcloud is harder than hang climb . 7. Time bomb For the time bomb i think it is a bad obstacle . It is crazy and need long reach, i think they are are better put a skyhooos with globe on it rather than stupid "TIME" Bomb . 8. Flying Bar It is deserved to stay

First, they let Joe to grab the ring not the globe, so what make it special? Then, It is just a ring toss on a hook with larger gap

ATS isn't very clever with obstacle design, and are even sloppier with ruling.

Replace Wingnut Alley with Roulette Row and make the time limit 2 minutes, and it's the best Stage 2 ever I really hope this is what they do Thank you for your compliment Philip.BTW,do you know if it's possible to open up a Proto SASUKE staff position for me? I'm mainly speaking in terms of a job like coming up with obstacles or making lineups,or something like that.Do you know if it'd be possible? I'll probably be fine as is, as Alex is still programming. However, feel free to message me some obstacle ideas if you want, I'll consider them!

I really hope they keep the Peg Cloud, because that was a great obstacle. F*** the POM run of the night. Might as well be called Spoiler of the night. As soon as Najee got POM in Stage 2, you knew Stage 3 was not to be beat. Loved that Joe did the Crazy part of the Cliffhanger the proper way with a 180˚ flip in mid-air. He gave it his all, especially in the last half of Stage 3. Drew

While there are a million problems I have with ANW's format and finals course, the main thing I just don't understand is how NBC's editing and course design translates to good television? Okay yea, I guess competitor results aren't predictable, but does anybody really enjoy seeing deserving competitors fail silly obstacles? After Alyssa's fluff piece last night I was completely tuned out. That segment was wayyyyy too Hollywood for a show rooted in athleticism.

Whoever edited this episode deserves some major props. Given the footage they had to work with, with the Wingnut massacre, I think they made as varied and interesting an episode as there could have been.

Now that the regular season is done, we are heading to side events. Can anyone of you tell me about the line-up for USA vs The world? How many teams were there? Who were on each team, especially team USA? I am not here for any spoilers, so don't feed me with more than what I want.
Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this? I just don't see the thread for USA vs The world this year.

^ Totally awesome lineup but I am a little surprised NBC didn't throw in Jessie Graff or Alyssa Beird.

It was teams of 6 last year. I wonder why they made them smaller?

Where do I start? They ended the worst season yet with the worst season finale yet so at least they kept the theme going😒 After the Stage 2 obstacle and time-limits explanation I was like "Haha, good one, show me the actual course.". Stage Two is now easily the weakpoint of Vegas and it just gets boring. The fact that at least 20 people failed Wingnut Alley and they cut some runs that ended before it meant it was reallllllly repetitive. I can't believe they can take someone else's idea and completely ruin it. An unpaid person in the Obstacles Design Challenge comes up with the good Wingnuts. NBC thinks up the boring Swing Surfer and horrific Wingnut Alley. Speaking of that, aside from the main mess, their two new Obstacles weren't very original or interesting. The Criss Cross Salmon Ladder was alright(although I hate that you can transition before on the top rung as it appears sloppy. I want more downward Salmon Ladder movements though - even if it took no one out last year. Maybe have the second half downwards (like in Japan) so competitors are more tired once they reach it. Swing Surfer only took one out and it seemed like a risky obstacle that I STILL managed to get bored watching. The jump is obviously really hard but everyone pretty much landed it and jumped to the rope-wall in the exact same way so I was falling asleep. The Giant Ring Swing is slightly better with the mat at the end rather than the transition to the bars as it speeds things up, but the overall obstacle is slow, going against the original idea of the stage. In fact, the whole stage now goes against the speed idea now! The only two obstacles I was happy with were introduced last year and are slower versions of older obstacles anyway so even those are nowhere near perfect! I was less impressed by Wingnut Alley. Come to think of it, there's been an interesting (not good interesting) trend the last three years with the fifth obstacle of Stage Two being a supersized version of an obstacle introduced in regionals earlier that year. And each if these expanded versions has gotten worse and worse and these Wingnuts by far take the cake. Look at the dismount, the final handle isn't even in front of the platform so aside from having to lache an excessive distance to the platform, they have to throw themselves out to the side to even stick the landing. Really sad about Drew failing. Ny guess is that he severely hurt his forearm and had to dismount immediately which is why he attempted the jump with not enough momentum. They should've just built it better so no one can break their arm on the dang obstacle!! Stage 3 was the only stage that really impressed me this year. I liked the fact that we're back to eight obstacles, and that, for the most part, they get progressively more difficult. Completely fine switching the Keylock Hang and Floating Boards to make things a bit different, although I have a suspicion that they originally intended a transition from the Keylock Hang to the Nail Clipper with no platform between them but realized it was so far and stuck that thin platform there. And they obviously wouldn't be able to transition from Floating Boards to Nail Clipper so that explains the reasoning of switching it. On the subject of the thin platform, amazing save by Najee! The Nail Clipper appeared much easier without the Salmon Ladder leading into it and with only three cylinders! Pretty cool to watch when it doesn't eliminate every single competitor . The (not really) Ultimate Cliffhanger needs to get away from the crazy jumps. No one fails them and because of them, the landing cliffs have to be more like bars than ledges! I'd get rid of the bottom part of that structure and replace it with either a simpler but thinner Cliffhanger (not gonna happen I know) or the Vertical Limit (also not probable). I loved the set of three obstacles together. The Curved Body Prop gets you tired for a direct transition into the Birdhouses and by the end you're (as we saw) so tired that you have to find a way to rest before the Time Bomb. I also think it's a circuit of three pretty nice obstacles. Excited to see more people trying it and can see a larger version of Time Bomb as obstacle eight of a finals course! Overall Stage 3 was good but it's time for ANW to reevaluate some decisions. Stage Two has become a hot mess since they had kanzenseiha and Stage One could use some more creativity. Save some completely new ideas for Vegas next year and it'll be more interesting. Aside from The Birdhouses, Domino Pipes and Time Bomb, all of the obstacles are either returning or modified/supersized versions of old stuff. Just because you have fans creating obstacles doesn't mean you don't have to do your job!

OMG I just re-watched the episode and that Kristy interviewer was terrble, especially during Drew's interview. She keeps saying "I know you're disappointed..I know how much this means to you.." and was trying to get tears for the camera. Good on Drew for being positive.
