The fact that the Leafs have surpassed my expectations says a lot, considering the fact that THEY ARE MY HOMETOWN TEAM. (kind of) It just shows that #TheLeafsAreActuallyGood

Day 6 Scores: Away Team | Score | Home Team | Series Score | Washington Capitals | 3 - 4 (OT) | Toronto Maple Leafs | 1 - 2 | Ottawa Senators | 4 - 3 (OT) | Boston Bruins | 2 - 1 | Chicago Blackhawks | 2 - 3 (OT) | Nashville Predators | 0 - 3 | Anaheim Ducks | 5 - 4 (OT) | Calgary Flames | 3 - 0 |
A great day of playoff hockey with all games having blown leads and going to overtime. The Leafs come back from a 2-0 and 3-1 deficit to win the game in overtime, with veteran Bozak scoring the OT winner against the Capitals to take a 2-1 series lead. A controversial penalty allows Ottawa to salvage a win against Boston in overtime after giving up a 3-0 lead in the game, with Bobby Ryan getting the OT winner. The Predators come back from a 2-0 deficit with Forsburg scoring two to tie it, and Fiala with the OT winner, putting Chicago on the brink of elimination. Randy Carlyle ends up on the winning side of a game that involves a 4-1 lead being squandered, as Calgary gives up the 4-1 lead and yet another unlucky game winner (this time in overtime), with Cory F**king Perry credited with the OT winner, as the Ducks are on the verge of sweeping the Flames.

Pens up 3-0, Blackhawks down 3-0, Caps losing their series... needless to say I am ecstatic. Hopefully we clean up the Blue Jackets tonight and get some rest ahead of what could be a tough series next round.

My knowledge of playoff formats says that they would be facing the Leafs. Your team's success is certain. And if it isn't, then we are in Armaggeddon. First winshield wipers on a NASCAR, and now... this.

Day 7 Scores: Away Team | Score | Home Team | Series Score | Montreal Canadiens | 1 - 2 | New York Rangers | 2 - 2 | Pittsburgh Penguins | 4 - 5 | Columbus Blue Jackets | 3 - 1 | Edmonton Oilers | 0 - 7 | San Jose Sharks | 2 - 2 |
Rick Nash scores the game winner as the Rangers tie the series against Montreal. The Columbus Blue Jackets survive and win Game 4 to get themselves back in the series against the Penguins. The Oilers get rekt as the Sharks score 4 power play goals in a 7-0 blowout, tying the series.

Day 8 Scores: Away Team | Score | Home Team | Series Score | Washington Capitals | 5 - 4 | Toronto Maple Leafs | 2 - 2 | Ottawa Senators | 1 - 0 | Boston Bruins | 3 - 1 | Minnesota Wild | 2 - 0 | St. Louis Blues | 3 - 1 | Anaheim Ducks | 3 - 1 | Calgary Flames | 4 - 0 |
The Leafs cannot come back from a 4-1 deficit and a bad late goal as Washington ties the series. Anderson shuts out the Bruins as Bobby Ryan scores the only goal in the game as the Senators are just a win away from winning the series. Dubnyk shuts out the Blues as he keeps the Wild in the series, with the game winner being into an empty net with Allen behind it. The Flames cannot beat the Ducks, as John Gibson makes 36 saves to let the Ducks sweep the series and move on to the next round. Sorry Calgary. And then there were 15 teams...

Pens advance, Jackets out, Blackhawks out? One has to think that the Penguins are now the favorites to win it all again.

Day 9 Scores: Away Team | Score | Home Team | Series Score | Columbus Blue Jackets | 2 - 5 | Pittsburgh Penguins | 1 - 4 | New York Rangers | 3 - 2 (OT) | Montreal Canadiens | 3 - 2 | Chicago Blackhawks | 1 - 4 | Nashville Predators | 0 - 4 | San Jose Sharks | 3 - 4 (OT) | Edmonton Oilers | 2 - 3 |
A controversial goalie interference penalty denies the Blue Jackets the tying goal and allows Crosby to put the dagger into the series, as Pittsburgh wins the game and the series. Mika Zibanejad scores the OT winner against Montreal as the Rangers have a chance to win the series on home ice. The Predators embarrass all of the experts as they sweep the series against the NHL's favourite team, the Blackhawks, with Corey Crawford putting the puck in his own net for the game winner. David Desharnais scores the OT winner as the Oilers take a 3-2 series lead after trailing 3-1 in the game. And then there were 13...

You know, it would be funny if all 5 canadian teams get knocked out in the first round. I think Ottawa will make it through though.

Day 10 Scores: Away Team | Score | Home Team | Series Score | Toronto Maple Leafs | 1 - 2 (OT) | Washington Capitals | 2 - 3 | Boston Bruins | 3 - 2 (2OT) | Ottawa Senators | 2 - 3 |
Washington wins a very close and scrappy game, with Justin Williams scoring the OT winner against the Leafs. The Bruins keep the series alive with Sean Kuraly scoring the OT winner in the second OT period. Day 11 Scores: Away Team | Score | Home Team | Series Score | St. Louis Blues | 4 -3 (OT) | Minnesota Wild | 4 - 1 | Montreal Canadiens | 1 - 3 | New York Rangers | 2 - 4 | Edmonton Oilers | 3 - 1 | San Jose Sharks | 4 - 2 |
Magnus Paajarvi ends the Wild's season in OT as the St. Louis Blues move on to the second round. Mats Zuccarello scores the tying goal and game winner as the New York Rangers eliminate the Montreal Canadiens. Anton Slepyshev's first ever playoff goal so happens to be the game winner as the young Edmonton Oilers eliminate the old San Jose Sharks. And then there were 10... Day 12 Scores: Away Team | Score | Home Team | Series Score | Ottawa Senators | 3 - 2 (OT) | Boston Bruins | 4 - 2 | Washington Capitals | 2 - 1 (OT) | Toronto Maple Leafs | 4 - 2 |

I like our chances against the Capitals. They're coming off a low-scoring series with 5 games going to OT and 6 OT periods. Plus we have the history on them. I think we're like 6-1 against them in playoff series as well. Someone on the radio this morning said that we've overcome series deficits against the Capitals in all 4 of our Stanley Cup runs. Not sure if that will mean anything or not.

Now that the First Round is over, we see that there have been a lot of surprises. The West's top two teams combine for a win in the playoffs. The Leafs took the Capitals to 6 tough games before bowing down to the President's Trophy winners. Clarke MacArthur scores the OT winner to send to Ottawa Senators to the Division Finals. No Game 7s, yet this broke a record for most games gone to OT in the First Round, with the 18th and last one being Game 6 of the Caps-Leafs series.
So now that that's over, it is time for the...
DIVISION FINALS
Eastern Conference
Atlantic Final
2. Ottawa Senators - 3 vs. WC1. New York Rangers - 2
Metropolitan Final
1. Washington Capitals - 2 vs. 2. Pittsburgh Penguins - 3
Western Conference
Central Final
3. St. Louis Blues - 2 vs. WC2. Nashville Predators - 4
Pacific Final
1. Anaheim Ducks - 3 vs. 2. Edmonton Oilers - 2
(Note that New York Rangers crossed over to the Atlantic Division bracket due to Wild Card rules, despite being a Metropolitan team.)
Will Smashville smash the Blues? Will McDavid lead the Oilers across the Pond? Will Ovechkin get revenge on Crosby? Will the Rangers overcome an unfair seed and win the series? Find out as the playoffs continue!
The West Finals will start tonight.

I'm predicting a Pittsburgh vs. Edmonton finals. Gretzky vs. Lemieux. Crosby vs. McDavid. What could be better for the league?

The Nashville Predators defeat the St. Louis Blues in 6 games, and will go to the Western Conference Final for the first time ever! St. Louis's Cupless streak continues.
