Cutting parts of the runs of not just both clears, but the only two to make it past the 8th obstacle is by far the most unfathomably idiotic editing choice NBC has ever made.

I actually liked the episode over all. Having both clears mid cut was kind of strange but it didn't ruin it (for me). I mean, they got a fluff piece, and it's no surprise that they could get through the first 3 obstacles, right? I do feel bad for Michelle, if this was any other season prior she would totally be in Vegas. Also, super impressed by Joe going up that Elevator Climb in the end, it almost felt like the Invisible Ladder with the speed he was going (God I miss that obstacle...) Also hearing that the Elevator Climb broke doesn't help its case.

So judging by Labreck getting into the Top 15 along with Jessie, I guess now we are going to have a perfect 100 competitors then? Considering what the last two regions females and what they offer I doubt any of them will crack the Top 15. Plus I know they are going to say 100 competitors in Vegas even if they get 98 or 99 (if worst case scenario). Meagan Martin has a shot. She looked great in Denver and almost beat the rail runner in qualifying. It would be amazing if the same 3 women who legit qualified to Vegas last year do the same again.

Before I forget, 3 to the Jessie count and 2 to the Kacy count. I'll get the season totals updated eventually.

I think he already has, especially when you look at total obstacles competed over the seasons since he's started competing. I think those two are the best active in the sport (with Britten retired for now). Gil, Levin, Flip, Jessie, Najee, Ian etc. aren't far behind, but it would be hard to make a case for a top three best right now that doesn't include those two. (That would be "best" as measured by actual current success; several, like Ian Dory or Daniel Gil, have the potential to be even better at their peak.)

If skipping the first three obstacles on a run gets us more runs, I think I'm actually in favor of the cuts (though I'd prefer all runs for all competitors - I've watched quite a few complete NNL competition livestreams, and I suspect I'm one of the few to do that!)

The problem is the cuts don't get us more runs to be shown. There used to be 2 or 3 full runs + fast forwards between commercials. Now there's only one full run. I f***ing hate commercials and ads.

WHELP Michelle Warnky is going FIRST. O.O BUT THAT RUN WAS AMAZING! She can EASILY make Vegas! I think you're right, Michelle could easily make it to Vegas, but she is her own worst enemy on the course. She wastes too much time jumping around after each obstacle. On this night she spent a good 45-60 seconds psyching herself up for the Warped Wall and then did it again before starting the Salmon Ladder. The courses are too difficult and the competitors to closely matched to waste time on the course. Look at John Alexis. He doesn't complete finals courses, but he is almost always the fastest to the qualifying obstacle.
Ok so Jamie got halfway digested and he SOMEHOW gets Pom run?! Oh lord we're doomed. XD Nice troll by NBC there. Maybe the do pay attention to some of the boards out there and decided to play with the Pom run.
I heard Jamie broke the elevator climb during his run, does anyone know more about this? Also it looks like they put the rock hold on the ibeam gap again.
The Elevator climb jammed up while he was ascending. He actually pulled himself up and was supporting himself with his palms on top of the handles. He managed to get the handles loose, drop back under the levers and start back up. The levers jammed again and he fell. The crew worked on the obstacle for 10-15 minutes. then let him try again from the bottom. He never left the course, although he was allowed to put his jacket on. He did some pull ups on the last clacker handles to keep warm.
It's really strange that he got the POM run with that big rest period. I was standing next to Joe Morasky when Jamie started back up the Elevator Climb. He had some interesting comments about how the run should be considered.
Yes, a handhold was installed on the back side of the I-Beam gap.
Ugh I feel terrified for Michelle! I want her to continue but I doubt she will now! D: [EDIT] I hate Alyssa. -_- SHE ONLY GOT SLIGHTLY FARTHER and still knocks out Michelle. -_- Flirts with disaster... and still clears. You were right to feel terrified. It seems the purpose of the first run of the night is to show the 8th obstacle. So far this year only one of the runners featured as the first runner has moved on to Vegas. It's pretty much an indication your season is over to lead off the episode. Michelle actually ran at about 11:30.
It's not where you get on the obstacle, it's how quickly you get there. Alyssa didn't beat her, Michelle beat herself. Alyssa's run was nerve wracking the night of the event, and I didn't even see the trip on the Floating Steps.
I'm disappointed that the promo last week talked about how Jesse LaBreck was going to make history, yet no history was to be made. There was history. Three women on the back half of the course is a first.

Just saw this episode, and boy, did my gut think that James and Michelle got robbed of a Vegas spot. I think they should re-work how they do tie-breakers in the top 15 by not just how fast they got to the obstacle, but also how far they got on that same obstacle if it has multiple parts. They certainly did it in the first USA vs. Japan, where Ryo got Japan a point in Stage 3 by reaching the second cradle on the Flying Bar a second before Brian Arnold. James would've certainly got into Vegas, as would Michelle (she reached the second Nailclipper while Beird only got to the first one).
But this is only one part of a larger solution to be fairer in handing out spots to Vegas.

I think if last night's run is any indication, Joe is poised to give Drew a run for his money this year. The two most consistent athletes the show has seen by far, I honestly think one of them could pull it off in Vegas.

I think part of the problem is that the courses take so long to complete now. Joe was pretty fast on the course, but it still took him 7:24 to finish. The courses are getting slower and slower every year.

Just looking at it, I think Daytona was a tougher course. Rolling Thunder, Giant Cubes, and the Circuit Board all in a row is absolutely insane.
I wonder how large the ledges on the nail clipper were. It didn't seem all that tough honestly (comparatively of course)

Not that I was expecting by the edit that he would achieve total victory this season but I just saw this, and it's sad Dan had to drop out.. When anyone has to drop out after getting there. http://instagr.am/p/BX0je9-B17-

If so, I hope James McGrath had a chance to compete with Allyssa in Vegas this year

In hindsight, they should put one of either Michelle, Jesse or Alyssa in the Kansas City finals. That city has no strong female competitors. Yeah they should have put Mcgrath and Alyssa in Kansas since there is no real big Star (sorry Lance). Also the Women there aren't the best. James would've still been injured in Kansas

Ok, there are a few things that didn't make sense:
- In the intro, they called Joe the fastest in qualifying. Then they said Sean Noel was the 3rd fastest, "only behind Joe Moravsky". Digesting every run of Anthony De Franco is one thing, but why deny his accomplishments? - When Naj and The Beast ran, they said that they have to be in under 5' at the Nail Clipper. That tells me that Nr. 15 was at 5:01. Naj and Joe beat that time, which means that Nr. 15 must have fallen to 17. Yet somehow Jesse ended up at 15 with 5:03. Wut??
Also, has it happened before that a City Final had 0 falls on the 9th obstacle (i.e. everyone either clearing it or falling on 8)?

Would major sports leagues start relocating franchises just because one division is strong while another one sucks?
