He failed the double pendulum in the competition itself but is clearly seen in the trailer through his shorts and some slow pausing on a big tv failing the side winders. I found this interesting I guess They were short on testers?
Didn't they try and get Ryo back in sasuke 25 to be a Uch tester that night despite failing stage 1 because their testers could not do it?

It's actually a pretty regular thing in these shows as far as I am aware and I believe it happens most seasons.
In ANW8 a large chunk of course testers were competitors who were outed during Cities. In the behind the scenes it showed Reko Rivera, Grace Sims, as well as many others testing
I believe it was mentioned in Sasuke 32 Yuuji and Ryo were offered to do UCCH, of which Ryo accepted.

Yeah they let them test. Personally I don't like when they do that but given that both Ryo and Tomo are finalists they have been to these obstacles before. From what I understand Ryo tested the cliff this year as well.

iirc he cleared the cliff/vertical but it was the only thing he did. Testers only do 1 obstacle at a time in isolation. Last year I saw another tester do the same thing and was just as gassed at the end of it (pipe slider ledge).
