There was a old guy on The Amazing Race who ruptured his Achilles in Tahiti. The team won the next 2 legs before they withdrew. The team returned for the All Star season, and they won that season. Kanno has a bad injury, but he isn't done for as of now. But it's going to be tough for him to recover from that injury. I watched this season of the amazing race as well...it took the guy almost a whole year to recover enough to run the race, and he was still dealing with pain. Kanno might be out of action for a while.

I kinda feel bad for him but it was his choice to go all cocky on an obstacle that has taken out 2 All-Stars and almost took out Drechsel in 31.

From what the announcer says (just caught it in the digest) it sounds like Jun had the fastest stage 1 time (faster than drew).
Edit: announcer says "san jyu ni biao" (32 seconds) just as jun clears. So may or may not have been fastest but jun was on the same pace as drew was

Still haven't seen Ibushi's run rip. If it was so good, why not put it on the main broadcast? He tried to do that kick that Nagano did on the Double Pendulum, ended up accidentally triggering the release, had to swing more on the trapeze to get the extra momentum to make it to the fallen pendulum, AND HE ACTUALLY MADE IT, He timed up at the Tarzan Rope but damn, that save though... Now that it aired I can talk about 2 things. Kanno tore his ACL on that fall. Wreathman only arrived on set within half hour because TBS forced him to go even though he was in Europe. So dude came from the airport and immediately onto the set. None of us were surprised how badly he did. Correcting because I got the wrong acronym. Achilles tendon not ACL. Damn, that's probably an even worse injury to try to come back from. Hell we know an ACL tear isn't a career ender considering Drew...

Hell we know an ACL tear isn't a career ender considering Drew... I've also come back from an ACL. It sucks and takes about a full year, but it's certainly not career-ending. Achilles on the other hand I've heard is worse. Poor guy. I guess I'll be rooting for a comeback.

I've only been there in the May-July, so I guess I had it in my mind that it would be colder by the time August/September, but a Google search tells me that August is apparently the hottest month in Tokyo. RIP. Oh dear God no.. August is horrible and I'm not even from there. LOL It shares a lot of similarities in weather, humidity and holy-crap-it's-muggy-as-hell as my area in the lower Northeast. iirc it's in the same latitude as Washington, DC and just as hot and muggy in August. We don't get any relief until October at the earliest. I've been to Japan 3 times now myself, with all three being from late June into early July. IT IS HOT. IT IS HUMID. It also rains a lot too. At the same time like you said Arsenette, August I've heard is even worse. I'm going back to Japan in 3 weeks though, so luckily it probably won't be as bad.

I do remember seeing him talking to Drew during Stage 3 though. Jun is fluent in English right? I didn't know he was separated from the main group for being cocky, I thought he was just more of a loner. He did have a huge guest section this time it appears. Shame though, if Team Japan ever came back to USA vs. The World, Jun would be ideal for Stage 1.

I heard that Jun Sato did a handstand on rails, which apparently was a no-no from TBS safety standpoint, so it was cut from the broadcast.

If that's true then I get that's it's dangerous but I don't see anything wrong with it. Sato may be a little bit cocky because of his parkour background but I don't think that he's a bad guy. What do I know though? What do almost all of us know? Unless we talk to someone up, close and personal we'll never know what kind of people they are.

This may have been answered already, but this thread is quite long as it is and I was only just now able to watch the broadcast, so I'm curious about the rolling logs. Most competitors made certain to go all the way down to the lowest log before jumping, but a few jumped from higher up. I know (or think I know?) there's a rule against jumping from the top, and I was under the impression the rule stipulated that you had to go to the bottom rung... has that changed, or was I simply mistaken? On some other brief notes: Darvish's fall was heartbreaking, as was Yuuji's. Drew continues to be fantastic although I was annoyed that neither of his first two runs were shown. Am I right in thinking based on seeing his time remaining that he had the fastest stage one clear? Happy Shunsuke is back and still on top form, and Morimoto still looks an eternal threat to win. Also, I hate the backstream, but it did lead to the conveyor actually looking dangerous for once.

The rule is simply that you can't jump directly off the top/top log. Most people go down two the bottom two, but jumping from the 2nd from the top like Kanno is technically valid (although probably not the best strategy)

]He did. LOL And his "celebration" was uhm.. not well received.. seems he did a rude gesture and showboated once he beat the time. I assume they cut that from the broadcast? Yeah he was fast forwarded and they showed him hitting the button and not much else. What was said gesture? Did it involve a certain finger lol Also if the training group distances itself from him because of his attitude, I have to assume it's pretty bad considering how they stuck with Ryo LOL This may have been answered already, but this thread is quite long as it is and I was only just now able to watch the broadcast, so I'm curious about the rolling logs. I know (or think I know?) there's a rule against jumping from the top, and I was under the impression the rule stipulated that you had to go to the bottom rung... has that changed, or was I simply mistaken? You can't jump from the top stationary ones (both a matter of health and safety no no and also for making it too easy from having a solid jumping point with runup) but you are allowed to jump on any of the ones with hinges, but it is definitely a bad idea (See Shingo and Takeda in 31 ) I heard that Jun Sato did a handstand on rails, which apparently was a no-no from TBS safety standpoint, so it was cut from the broadcast. Yeah I can see why the people who thought a full sized Salmon Ladder was too dangerous would have a problem with that LOL

Well from what I gathered asking around right after he won he did the handstand.. motioned to his .. uhmm.. junk.. then the time.. then said something to the camera while flipping the bird? At least that's what they saw or inferred. Needless to say it didn't go over so well. LOL Hell if this was ANW he would have been shown with Matt/Akbar screaming "the gauntlet has been thrown!".. in Japan.. you aren't supposed to be so outwardly cocky and rude. He's definitely more western mentality. I guess the 5 years in England brought that out of him.. then again. he was supposedly like this back when he was in Japan for the Trials in 21.. maybe the crowd he hangs with?

LMFAO I'm sorry but that's hilarious. I don't know where he gets off even doing this in his head, as he's done relatively poorly in the past and only very recently has gotten to a stage he has no chance in hell of clearing. He's outclassed ultimately by all the other younger competitors upper body wise, so it's not like he's impressing anyone. And I'm sure Drew would destroy him time wise if he was actually going for speed as well, and Asa who was just 3 seconds below him wasn't particularly going as fast as he could either.

TBH I openly cackled when I heard the news. The person that told me also said it laughing (he was Japanese) and used a lot of emoticons of shock and laughter. I then heard it conversation from someone else and the other competitors were going "omg.. he's got .. balls.." and the production just rolled his eyes. Everyone on the lot thought "well he's getting cut again.. " and just went on with the tournament as if he didn't exist. LOL

I had to assume so the way you described it. This story is even funnier (not that it needed any help in the comedy department) if you imagine he did it like this

I'm assuming that's the gesture though I can confirm that the handstand did happen. I think afterwards it depends how many were still watching him to see the other stuff. I know he pointed at the time so he was gunning for fastest time. The rest is incomplete but seems that is what happened. I know many of them on the Japan side were horrified but not surprised.. if anything they knew he was going to get cut anyway given his attitude. LOL Still though.. that gif.. I see him doing that.. He's not a loner.. he's just in his own circle for a reason. TBH he doesn't like the Shin Sedai either. AHhahahaa
