HIGHS: • Royall T. Eason. What a name! • Tyler Gillett seems like a pretty cool guy, and I'm glad he cleared. Good for him, all that training was worth it! • John Loobey outperforming people half his age! • The guy that made the Wing Nuts BEAT the Wing Nuts! And the whole course! • Hooray, Ryan Stratis, JJ Woods, the Brazi Bros, Travis Rosen, and Drew Drechsel cleared! • James McGrath and his "Just BEAST It" shirt sticking out like a sore thumb in the stands during the replay of Jessie Graff on Rolling Thunder, lol
LOWS: • The Rolling Pin is one of the ugliest and most dysfunctional obstacles I've ever seen. • Royall T. Eason, Bootie Cothran, and Jessie Graff failed near the end of Rolling Thunder. They were all so close! • Another instance of digests right before one of commercial breaks, but then were more digests AFTER the same commercial break! WTF? • The “Accordion Ninja?” The “Brace Face Ninja?” The “UNICORN NINJA?” I swear to god, these rookies who step onto the course with crappy nicknames and end up failing like, the second obstacle get worse every year! • Plugs for both Spartan AND NASCAR? • They digested Ryan Stratis? But he's one of the originals… And a fan favorite… AND HE CLEARED… • Jessie Graff’s Stage 1 run got 80 million views? I don't think so, Matt. • They CUT Brett Sims and Reko Rivera, two more fan favorites that cleared -_-
OFFICIAL COUNTS (probably wrong since I wasn't paying attention half the time): Kacy- 1 Jessie- 7 Fluff Pieces- 12

I agree, I think Tyler Gillett is one to watch, he looked like a veteran out there. The scary ninja lady was good too
also can they please think a little bit more about these obstacles, like the fly wheels being too close, the poor design of tonights, and all those landings that just throw you around

You can tell by the end state of the rolling pin something went wrong in the original idea and they threw something together with the battering ram assets to throw something together last minute. That thing looks horrible and the way it slides all around. Just.... awful Yep. Bourgeois got absolutely BSed.

I'm glad to see Tukrong Klengdong back on the board.
There's been so many competitors that ANW promoted one single time in the past, and then they disappear as if the show shoved them into witness protection/relocation.

It's not a bad watch. What's wrong with digests before commercial breaks? I love them, more opportunities for ninjas to get their runs shown. Graff's Stage 1 run got 110 million views on ANWNation's Facebook page. As for the episode itself, it was alright, pissed with the total cuts though, and I personally still enjoyed the San Antonio episode a lot more.

It's 3 weeks in, it should be clear by now Qualifying are for newer stories/future potential stars/elite competitors and City Finals leans heavier on the Veterans since they usually go further

Loved Tyler's run. Watching ANW for 7 years should give him the title of Superfan.

I concur that this episode is the best so far this season and I'll add that that's not really a good thing with Daytona being put together and edited decently, at best. The Wingnuts were great and I'm fine with the Broken Bridge meets qualifying (even if it's strange to have hanging balance from Vegas two weeks in a row). The Floating Steps didn't eliminate any competitors on-air but the rope achieved it's goal of tiring many out for Rolling Thunder (which also seemed good but is getting repetitive). I don't dislike the Rolling Pin as much as most of you seem to (!) but I agree that it wasn't great. If the Log Sitting thing was too easy they should've kept it for Qualifying (maybe remove the rope) and swapped it for the Rolling Pin in Finals to add a bit more variety. We have a history of easy second obstacles anyway (see Utility Pole Slider) The Wingnut coincidence was funny but kind of reveals how the Ninja producers handled it poorly in not emailing/calling the selected participants (no I'm not bitter ). They made many questionable decisions and poor cuts

Here is a fun fact Bree Widener whole get up was indeed inspire by Harley Quinn she not only had the eye shadow but had her tips dyed red and blue plus according to Iseman she showed up to set with a baseball bat. Funny enough Bex Taylor-Klaus who you might know from Arrow, Scream, and Voltron Legendary Defender actually wants to name her Harley Quinja.

Akbar's gonna hop onto the Harley Quinn-ja bandwagon REAL quick.

Did anybody find it weird that they didn't mention Jessie was wearing a Spider-man esque costume? Last season they had no problem mentioning her as Wonder Woman, plus this season Bree is basically doing Harley Quinn. So I wonder if NBC can't advertise Marvel properties?

Does Warner Brothers own NBC or something? 'Cause they own DC Comics. The two properties sharing the same owner is really the only way I can see ANW mentioning Wonder Woman without any issues.

NBC is owned by Comcast. Comcast's connection with Warner Bros isn't with DC, it's with Fandango (movie ticket company) which Comcast owns in a 70/30 joint venture with them. But I really doubt that has anything to do with it. It's easier to market Jessie as a 'wonder woman' while she wears a Woman Woman-inspired look (as well as Wonder Woman being DC's then-upcoming big film) than make up some metaphor about her and Spider-Man.

Last season they had no problem mentioning her as Wonder Woman, plus this season Bree is basically doing Harley Quinn. So I wonder if NBC can't advertise Marvel properties? Nor really, but, I'm of mixed mind on this. I didn't find it strange that Matt/Akbar didn't mention the character, but i immediately noticed the theme during the promos. I thought it was wicked cool and would have enjoyed a shout out, but didn't miss it. Jessies's costume from last year, to me, had more of a Supergirl vibe, which would not have been PC since she is a woman, not a girl. So they went with the obvious though not public domain (despite cultural literacy) Wonder Woman (great movie, everyone should go see it). I think they went with what made sense to them and asked for forgiveness abfterwards. I'm a DC guy, so seeing the web, I thought Spideman, because I was not aware of Spider Woman. Typing/hearing Spider Woman, I think of course there's a Spider Woman in comics, but it's definitely an "oh yeah" moment, not a forefront of awareness thing. Despite Matt's geekiness, I think the same thing happened to him. But even if Matt wanted to go with Spider Woman, since Disney owns Marvel and ABC, the producers were not going to allow a mention of Spiderman. It's been a long time since I cared about network rankings. So I am not aware of the ABC. CBS, FOX, NBC pecking order. When I cared Fox wasn't in the equation. So we have a have a male character where most of the product is developed by one competitor (ABC/Disney) and a female character where most of the product is developed by another competitor (CBS). I think it was more pop cultural awareness and political correctness that led to recognizing Wonder Woman and not Spderman. As cool as I thought the Spider costume was I didn't care at all and didn't think of it at all that Spiderman wasn't called out during the broadcast. I liked the spider theme because it ties in well with ninjas and their ability to blend in and stick to walls.

So far they digested 3 of the 9-time veterans (Kretsch, Campbell and now Stratis). Is Lorin competing this year (because they might digest him as well)?
