I know some of you might find it odd.. but we regularly have a thread about the weather. Usually we anticipate whether it is going to rain, snow, general temps, etc. So far with 10 days to go it's looking okay. As usual.. this is subject to change. Feel free to find more accurate reports on other websites. I usually just use Weather.com as a baseline. Weather.com - 10 day outlook. Tokyo, Japan

One plus side about having a winter tournament (in terms of the weather) is that the possibility of a typhoon causing issues/delays is significantly lower. Although the Western Pacific's tropical cyclone season is officially active year-round, it's usually much more active from late spring to late autumn.

True though up north in Japan the snow is pretty epic. Just look at everyone's twitter from one prefecture north of Tokyo.. they are buried in snow!

Let's have a Winter tournament they said. We can't possibly have worse weather than we had last time, they said. I've always wanted a sequel to Sasuke 8. (good thing the actual taping still looks decent...but I bet people wished they moved it to that 65 on Friday lol)

Granted.. I'm sure all of that will be gone by the weekend as it's expected to go up in temperature.. still.. it's a b**** for everyone coming in from the north. It is snowing FEET of snow just north of Tokyo.

Have a friend in Philly saying they're being threatened with half a foot despite reaching near-60 and a friend in New York says they might be getting in a worst case scenario, ten inches. Someone in this tournament is gonna use this as an escape from the snow, take a polar bear dive, and then have to dry off to not catch pneumonia only to travel back into a mountain of snow. There's no greater motivation to win than 'not freezing.' Getting flashbacks to Crash Bandicoot deaths where if he fell in cold water, he'd float back up encased in ice.

Where I am in South Jersey we are barely getting anything. Up north though (North Jersey and upwards into New England) and in the mountains of PA (Where yamfriend is).. they are getting a lot more. It's rare that Noreasters for me down here we get less than everyone else but the rain got here first before the massive temp drop. Only now are we getting the cold (it was 70 yesterday...) but most of the system will be gone. Up north however where 2D2Will is.. that's another story. LOL I talked to my friends in Japan and those who come from the north are laughing at the pansies in Tokyo for complaining about the snow. AHahhahahahaha I'm sure Inui is muttering under his breath for me being right.. though I'm sure he's secretly happy because he's a friggin' sadist. I'm sure people arriving into the city in the next day are praying for that temperature rise... I know Nagano will be ECSTATIC he doesn't have to compete.. LOL!!

I'm guessing that even if the weather cooperates on the taping days (at least in terms of no rain/snow), it's going to be rather muddy from all of the lingering moisture. #verydirtywaterpits

Well on the plus side, it's much easier to see the snow and it DOESN'T take someone yelling "IT'S WET!" and sliding so far down on the Soritatsu Kabe he almost goes up the back slope for them to realize there's a problem with moisture

There's never been a 'snow stops play' before in the list of inclement weather, has there?
I only recall the rain in 8 and 32, and the heat in 15.

Looking at the picture on Sasukepedia that cannot have been pleasant. (My lack of Kunoichi knowledge fails me again!) While strange weather makes for dramatic TV, here's hoping it clears up before the taping, given that everyone only gets a once-a-year shot at the course.

I noticed that through my few weather apps I have. I follow a lot of where the SASUKE competitors congregate and I saw the quick transition from ok to snow. The US is no different. I'm thankful I'm away from all that snow entirely (Go Texas... XD). I'd be with Nagano especially because I'm VERY sensitive to the cold. I guess we'll be seeing the heaters on full force like in SASUKE 24.

I may sound as a spoiled man but I never liked winter tournaments and I really don't have any good recent memories from them either (Of course though I'm happy to see SASUKE twice in a year again). From the All-Stars destroying themselves in 28, to Nagano's failures in 24, 25, 26 to looking at these huge Move Sport/Descente raincoats and feeling even colder than it actually is. Nevertheless this gives a great chance of drama which I realised I love after all. The 1st Stage in SASUKE 32 definitely has to go down as one of the most epic/shocking 1st stages ever (alongside 19s probably) and I wouldn't mind watching something like this again. Haven't really searched this but I suppose that statistically, even though we've had 1 Kanzenseiha, results in winter a little bit weaker than in summer so now that Nagano's gone I don't mind the chaos. Bring it on.

I actually don't know the exact location of the lot, but I'm assuming it's not too far from me.
We did get some snow yesterday, but to put it into perspective it was only the 3rd time it has snowed here all winter by my count. It also didn't even dare stick to the ground; it never does. Chances are weather will be perfectly fine aside from being hella cold.
