Based on Drew's recent performances in both Sasuke and ANW what does everyone think about his chances of achieving total victory/Grand Champion status in both events this year, or in future years? He clearly has the ability to pass any stage in either tournament, although he will have to finally pass his personal Rubicon in ANW, the Hang Climb, to do so. I would say he probably needs to both lose about 10 pounds and improve his grip strength to gain the strength-to-weight ratio necessary to pass the Ultra Crazy Cliffhanger-Vertical Limit-Pipe Slider trio in Sasuke Stage 3. Nonetheless, I like his chances. What say you all?

I think he's got a pretty good shot at beating ANW, but he needs to train more upper body and grip if he wants to clear SASUKE's third stage.

I think Drew could have cleared the Hang Climb last time around, but like he said grabbed the wrong rock. Now even getting back to that obstacle I think might be the toughest part if the same or similar obstacles are in Stage 2 or 3. They could release a giant killer in Stage 2, too. Plus usually people who do the best don't do too great the next year with all the pressure. I think Drew might do it though. In Sasuke, I'd say he'll probably do the same thing as last time. Maybe make it to the first transition in Vertical Limit 2.0 version. I want him to win one at least though

Drew only failed the Hang Climb is because he grabbed the hole

Also I'm sure both Sasuke and ANW's 3rd stage will have a soft renewal since both cliffhangers were beaten. And for Sasuke, the first and second stages will hopefully be actual renewal, making anyone's chances of even getting to Stage 3 less likely. I would love to see Drew achieve total victory, but for Sasuke 33 most of my faith is behind Geoff (if invited) or Yusuke.

He still has another run in Stage 3 for USA vs The World 3 that we haven't seen yet- maybe he finds the Hang Climb beta?
In Sasuke, he was very close, but this may be a year he doesn't make it to Stage 3. Not to be cynical, i'm a HUGE Drew fan and would love Total Victory in Sasuke 32, but after the 8/8 Stage Two completion in Sasuke 32, Sasuke is going to Revamp the HELL out of Stage Two and it may be safe to not just assume he can conquer any stage just because of a great year previously. Like Moravsky in Season 8- I 'knew' no doubt he'd made it 4 times in Stage Three, but with the new stage the way it was, nothing was guaranteed.
My guess for Drechsel- Total Victory in ANW9 and Sasuke 34. But his possibilities are endless. AS LONG AS THEY INVITE HIM BACK!

This was my idea I started in the Ninja Warrior Reddit forums.... hoping that Drew wins both competitions in the same year. It's a difficult shot but I think he can do it.

TBF here on SMF it has been said in the previous season that given how well Drew was doing he could have won both Sasuke 32 and ANW8 so the idea is not unique.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Drew win ANW9 but the Ultra Crazy Cliffhanger into the Vertical Limit Kai looks near impossible, to me at least.

I want drew to win to begin with. Now I want him to win even more because I want him to wipe Issac's dump smirk off his face

I think he might win ANW 9, but not Sasuke 33 because of that Ultra Crazy Cliffhanger to Vertical Limit transition

I think more so with Drew than for any other elite competitors is his weight. Not saying he's got much extra weight or anything but he's just got a bigger frame than any other Japanese competitor and Isaac, Geoff, etc. He's cut down from the ANW3 / Jump City days, but I agree with jchloupek in that if he wants to stand a glimmer of a chance on the UCCH+VLK, he needs to shed at least 10 more pounds.

Updating my thoughts, based on the reported final stage for Sasuke 33 I don't see Drew or anyone else defeating that monstrosity unless the time limit is wildly lax, say 75 seconds. A 20-rung Salmon Ladder in the middle of that stage is almost literally impossible to clear without extra careful effort, as the slightest mistake will send you falling and out of the stage. The Salmon ladder requires perfect technique, failing many a skilled and strong Ninja over the years. Placed in the middle of the Spider Climb and the Rope Climb, I just don't see anyone succeeding with a projected 50 second time limit,or even 60 seconds. Of course, Drew defeated the UCCH on his first try, so obviously anything is literally possible, but realistically, the probabilities are ultra low at this time. Again, what say you all? BTW, excellent points by commenters so far, as is expected here at SMF. Thanks!

Sorry since I don't keep up with most things these days, was there any official announcement that it was 50~60 seconds or was it just all speculation from the boards? (I legitimately don't know)

There hasn't yet been an official announcement about the new Final Stage's time limit, and we likely won't know about it until someone reaches the Final Stage (whether that's in 33 or beyond).

Final Stage time limits are never revealed until someone makes it there. Even ANW kept it a closed secret it's just you know with it being ANW and SMF we have connections

I think he'll win ANW9, but I don't think he'll win SASUKE33. I hope so, but I'm doubting it.

The Final Stage of SASUKE will trip him up. Taller people go slower on the Spider Climb, but I could be wrong.
