That was Venice in ANW 5 with James Eggiman and James Sclar? That was indeed the tournament and region I was referring to Or Miami in ANW6 with Dustin McKinney and Sean Morris

Would it be plausible for a city qualifiers in Omaha in the near future? With OKC getting one it would make sense, representing the north west region more or less.

Not sure if this is a good place to ask, but does anyone know how the ticket stuff works? They have multiple ticket times available, do you show up at that time and stay all day, or do you just stay for a few hours? I heard from 1 or 2 seasons ago you can stay the entire time, but then why make ticket times?

I think if you sign up for each session you can stay for the whole time. That's what Rider, Philip and I did in Pittsburgh and no one said anything to us.

Since it's a long taping night and people leave early, it would be foolish (and impossible) for them to seek out people and check their tickets every time period. So...just get the first one you see.

Is anyone else kind of annoyed that they're having 6 cities for the qualifying round again? Like, I understand that they need to be able to get as many people as possible to be able to show up, but having 6 cities means that we'll have to wait through at least 12 weeks of qualifiers to get to watch the Las Vegas National Finals. (AKA the part of the show that people actually care to watch)

I personally like watching city finals. Qualifying is boring just to watch some feats of strength and shocking fails.

I get bored of it very easily too, and likely won't watch again this year.

Their emphasis on the qualifiers is what bothers me, though. They should air them, but ANW puts way too much emphasis on them.

I hate it as well but they have been getting the ratings DURING the prelims. Vegas usually gets slaughtered in the ratings once it hits the Fall season opener. Viewers swear that those who win city finals are the winners anyway so it's not like they actually tune in for Vegas (remember.. people still think Kacy won ANW..). Only hardcore know the difference. I think they went back to 6 regions because they got tired of the bitching going on about not having 100 in Vegas from the hardcore.

I don't have any inside info like you sometimes do, so this is just from the outside. But I'm guessing that their plan all along was to go back to six this year, with six as the norm, and that they had to simply produce two fewer episodes last year due to the Olympics. Probably from a network standpoint they had to start and end at the same time as usual, and do it in two fewer episodes.

I'm only going with history and their public statements on the issue. They've done the 5 per season before outside of an Olympic year tbh so while your point is is a solid theory I'm not quite sure that is what is going on. I know from their statements (and the infamous change to Wildcards) they were concerned about how people were not happy with the Vegas lineup. You also just have to look at how the ratings have gone historically since ANW4. Last year was definitely an anomaly and they have done better in the fall season with Jessie's run being hyped. That is the only reason why I had that theory. I'm curious how the viewers will react to the new wildcard change but that already has a thread (though careful with spoilers in that).
