So one of the things that was being sold at Nagano's booth were personalized autographed copies of his Sasuke 32 bib. You wrote down your name and he'd put it on the bib, and he'd sign his own name too. Nagano and Carol (interpreter) were very very surprised when I wrote my name in Katakana LOL. I tried speaking as much Japanese as I could throughout the weekend, and I don't think I butchered it too bad because Jin said I did fine lol

I love her. ♥ I'm so proud of my friends who made it happen. I know Nagano reaaaaaaaaally wanted to do this and he know this is potentially his last trip to the USA. I'm relieved and elated so many people not only recognized him but shared their support for him. It warms my heart. I'm also elated that more people got to meet him. He's a really sweet guy and he will be sorely missed. They don't make people like him anymore.

Yeah, I was expecting most people to not know who he is, but I'm pretty sure everyone recognized it was Nagano, and took a picture with him.

I shared most of my stories on my Twitter but the first encounter I had with Nagano was when I was saying hello to Michelle Warnky. I was bringing up the fact she had cleared the warped wall and all of a sudden I was getting hugged. And I heard my name being called and it was Nagano himself. I was flabbergasted and went to get mom. She went down but then he went missing. Then he came up and surprised us all. And I gifted him the penguin. Pictures coming soon!

I think it was about 9 or 10 years ago, probably after about 8 straight hours of sitting on the couch watching TV and playing video games when I first saw Makoto Nagano on an episode of Ninja Warrior (aka Sasuke) on G4TV. I was floored at how a humble fisherman could do such amazing feats of strength and agility on this crazy Japanese obstacle course show. I was a lazy out of shape college student at the time and decided right then that I was going to make some changes so hopefully one day I could be capable of half of the things that Nagano was able to do. Fast forward to last weekend and I was fortunate to not only see him again (I had met him briefly about 7 years ago when I competed on season 2 of American Ninja Warrior), but I also got to be part of a small group training session where he gave us training tips and advice on obstacle technique. While he may not be very well known outside of obstacle course show fanatics, to me, he's the guy that inspired me to get healthy and that in itself has increased my quality of life tenfold. In summary, thank you Makoto Nagano for the inspiration to change my life around for the better. I don't know where I'd be if I had decided to change the channel to something else and continue my slothful ways. Either way, I'm so appreciative that I don't have to find that out and instead, that motivation from watching you convinced me to go out and do something active. Along the way, I've met a ton of amazing and positive people, had some pretty awesome adventures, all of which very possibly might not have happened if I never made that first move off of the couch. A move that was in a large part inspired by the legendary Makoto Nagano.

FINALLY got this picture up. The penguin is now in Nagano's hands. (And yes my pants are always that loud. XD)

I wasn't sure if that shirt is actually licensed or anything, I bought it off ebay I think before ANW 1 happened. I got Nagano to sign the back of it back during ANW 2 and since then I've only worn it for special occasions like filmings of ANW so that way if I'm in a crowd shot, then Nagano's face would be making an appearance as well. I've yet to see anyone else with it.

I've yet to see anyone else with it. Someone made it way back in 2008 around the time Nagano went to Chibipa. It was in response to there being no licensed merchandise anywhere. I forgot who did it (I feel bad.... because I knew.. and brain ain't cooperating..) and he's seen it before. Did he react to the shirt? He's signed a few of them but years ago!

Awesome to finally know a little bit more of where that shirt came from. I had just assumed it was a random ebay seller that just made their own Nagano shirts. I do remember that they had like 4 of them for sale in either red or blue.
And Yeah he had a big laugh about the shirt, and Carol mentioned it being an old shirt and was wondering where I got it from. I was disappointed though that I didn't buy one of the new shirts that they had made for this weekend before they sold out. But I'm not too upset, a shirt certainly doesn't compare to having a training session with Nagano.

The first time I saw the shirts were on this couple! ( Scroll down this page). I'm not sure if they made it or not - I have to ask Cathi who was there.. or check my notes.. it's been 9 years.. I know someone made them for people to get them signed when Nagano was in town. He was here a couple times when G4 was around so it made sense they kept selling them. They weren't cheap to make though so I doubt they made much money on the endeavor given how they didn't have a lot in bulk (where you get most of the price cuts) and of course this was almost a decade ago.. LOL

I remember seeing the second picture get taken, I think he and I had a little parkour-showdown between stages.

My turn. This was the Q&A after Nagano taught us how to tackle the obstacles found at Apex. I had the SSK 2016 towel and asked if we could perform the canning ritual where Takeda would hit him on the back when he was nervous. Andrew Drizzle won the NNL and I was absolutely ecstatic.

As an update, does anyone know when the perks for those who donated money to Nagano's visit will start being sent out?

Possibly ask the owner of the campaign privately through GoFundme?
