I am all for Marchsuke lol. Didn't end up submitting an application, as I don't have the money right now to fly to Japan for auditions given I was chosen for one. I am saving money for my trip to San Francisco in March. If a March Sasuke means 34 being in like October or something, I'll probably apply. So... Octosuke? Sasktober

Applications are now closed! Unusual but they actually announced the dates of the Osaka and Tokyo Auditions ahead of time! Osaka is up first and that is Saturday, January 14. Tokyo is last and that is Sunday, January 22. Calls start on Tuesday! Remember they do Kunoichi calls out first since taping for that is very soon. OH MY GOD THAT'S SO SOON

We'll see how it works this time.

If anyone hears about anyone getting a call back, please let us know in this thread. (Though, I don't even know if people are allowed to say if they got called or not?)

If I'm reading this right, 2500 people applied. I thought it would have been more than that. Although I could be reading it wrong and it could be 2500 people in Tokyo and Osaka alone.

Bada, as I mentioned a few times already, they start with the Osaka invites since their audition is first. They will give you instructions about what you can and cannot say. Most of the time it's quiet since it's an audition and not an invite. They mention that they are picking more people to audition (boy those days are going to be looooooooong...) to give people a better chance to get on the show. If I'm reading this right, 2500 people applied. I thought it would have been more than that. Although I could be reading it wrong and it could be 2500 people in Tokyo and Osaka alone. These don't count people that already are in the "pool" of people they know. That said, it is drastically smaller in number these days. Many reasons behind it including people not wanting to compete when it is winter, they didn't know about it because they are notoriously terrible at sharing news, or the more likely.. most people think the show is cancelled so they don't even know.

I realize that. Just saying if anyone hears anything to let me know, then while typing that I realized there might be some NDAs attached. As for the 2,500 number, sounds about right compared to what they've been getting. Sasuke has never gotten ANW levels of applicants, and certainly not these days with not much notice or promotion. I believe that's a similar amount as last year, if not slightly more.

Inui did tell me that it used to be about 25,000-30,000 applicants back during it's hayday. So definitely it's not the way it used to be.

But even that number pales in comparison to what ANW pulled last year (over 70,000 IIRC) and I have no idea what they'll get this year. It's only gone up over time. Though that number is impressive in its own right. How did people apply back when Sasuke first started, snail mail? The process is pretty easy these days. Google translate leads me to believe that between Tokyo and Osaka there will be 260 people, so roughly 130 per region ( which is roughly 10% chance of getting in). Just my interpretation of that mess though. Much better than the less than 1% chance when I got onto ANW7 though

How many people live in each country? Hell.. how many Japans FIT in the USA alone.. Also, how many people are chosen for the show? ANW chooses for 5-6 regions. Sasuke ONLY chooses a small amount of slots left for the nobodies on a show only with 100 people. If ANW ONLY chose 20 slots via wildcards this way people would not be as motivated to get on. Also, Japan doesn't pay them to compete nor are there consolation prizes like there are in ANW if you are the fastest in each region. Don't even get me started about the prize money in Japan vs. USA. People enter because they saw someone win a Million dollars. That will automatically raise the amount of people trying to get on the show. Completely different shows. Sasuke at it's peak could pull whoever they wanted because the show had a 20 rating. ANW would kill for that kind of rating. Is that a fair assessment given how different the television scene is in the USA vs. Japan? Yes by your standards. Neither are comparable so I wish people would stop.

For a proper translation: "We received right around 2500 applications for this season. We will be contacting ~260 of them for the Tokyo and Osaka auditions, combined. This means you have about a 1 in 10 chance of selection. We have begun contacting Osaka hopefuls in order of preference, so please look forward to the good news." So yes, it was 2500 total this season. With that said, they likely have a pretty good idea of exactly who they want skill wise, so the smaller pool isn't necessarily an issue.

Hmm, Osaka auditions already eh? Wonder if they are doing Tokyo calls after Osaka auditions or if they're done calling people in general.

With auditions starting tomorrow, and Kunoichi taping on the 26th, I think it's safe to say taping will probably be mid February.
