I read on here often as a guest, but this is my first post! I'm looking to take my training to the next level for this art.
I normally do a 20-25 minute warm up before I do my actual work out. Part of this warm up is a dead hanging for 1 minute at a time. I do this 4 times. The pull up bar I use is only around 1" (25.4mm) or slightly less in diameter. Being so small, I try to hang from my 4 fingers only, thinking this will be better than actually "grabbing" the bar and wrapping my hand around it.
But is it actually better to try and fully wrap my hands around with my palm gripping the bar and thumb wrapping around? I can see this way adding to my endurance in grip, while the other way increases finger strength. But I am just guessing here. I only recently started truly focusing on grip strength.
Also...
When I started doing this, not that long ago, 1 minute was pretty rough. Now it's becoming easier to do and i can complete the 4 sets without to much struggle. What would be a time to shoot for before adding weight?

Yeah you right on with the fingers vs grip. But I think you ready for weight. Just go small and work your way up. Weight can be dangerous on your body so just know your limits. Good job bro!
