Best part of Stage 3: Watching Nagano watch the pipe slider and then talk through how to do it with a few of the athletes that asked him. And then Drew doing that insane backswing

I wonder how Drew would have done if the pipe slider has a step like in Sasuke 27 (I think). He would have probably got it still.

I was surprised he failed on CCH of all things! I think he would have beat Stage 3 if he caught it Btw what was Stage 4 if anyone made it?

{Spoiler} that he rushed in unnecessarily. If he had taken more time, he'd have probably landed it.

Fun story: Me and James McGrath were talking, and he was surprised at how tall I've gotten (When I first met him 5 years ago I was like 5'8", now I am 6'2"). He said "Woah, let's stand up straight, I think you're as tall as me". Sure enough I was. Jon Alexis, who is 6'6", overheard us and walked over and got on his tippy toes and said "HI GUYS" LOL.

That might at least partially explain why he whiffed. The rest of the stage was the Roulette Cylinder and Ascending Vertical Limit.

The jump seemed more like 9 feet, it was like 1.5 times my wingspan.

Considering the NNL has already started its international expansion, it wouldn't surprise me if the NNL season 5 finals podium includes Morimoto lol

Here's some random stories about my experience at the NNL Finals:
Friday open gym: Open gym was fun, but crowded. I totally went overboard with training, just mere hours before my run. The plus side of this is that I beat the first ever full size Ultimate Cliffhanger I've ever attempted. The one at Apex is a mix of the 25 and 26 UCHs, as it has the large pull up to the 3rd ledge, with the gap to the 4th ledge from 26. It's scary on the 4th ledge, when you are at the obstacle's highest point and you gotta leap 4 or 5 feet to the small ledge. I met Naoyuki Araki (#92 in Sasuke 29) and Satoru Kishida (from team Japan in Sasuke Vietnam) that day, I think they were a little surprised I can speak Japanese at a conversation level lol. A bit later, I saw Jin walking with the Japanese guys and I was thinking "wtf he didn't say anything about being here" lol. I was happy to finally meet him. Later on, I heard Andrew Karsen call my name. He said, "Look over there! It's Nagano!" He was upstairs discretely in the corner. I didn't go up to him or anything on Friday because I knew he was up there to hide LOL. So, I respected his privacy. After that, a bunch of us were trying this cannonball lache to a CH ledge. It was super fun.
Saturday at the competition: Because of the time change, I woke up early, like at 5am. I noticed on Facebook that Brian K uploaded a walkthrough video of the 1st Stage already. I'm pretty sure I watched it 30 times before heading out to the gym. I was super concerned about the course until I got there, then I felt confident somehow. I ran 42nd and I saw 2 people clear before me. However, pretty much everyone was falling on either of the spinning log obstacles. When I was up, I wasn't as nervous as I expected to be. I've really gotten better about nerves. 5 minutes before my run, Nagano came walking to get a seat by the Warped Wall, which was where my family was seated. I was very excited and introduced myself to Nagano quickly, before going on deck to run. On the course, I felt super comfortable. Everything reminded me of the stages I set up in my backyard: Quick stages with a mix of balance and upper body that only take about a minute. I didn't feel in trouble at all until I got to the Warped Wall. It's a foot higher than I am used to, let alone doing it while rushing. I had 15 seconds left when I got there, so I should have caught my breath for a second because that was the last obstacle. However I was being silly I guess and I flubbed it both of my attempts (A week out, I've already been obsessively doing the Warped Wall at my local gym, and I have pretty much mastered it). I am super proud of myself for how I did. My dad told me Nagano was going nuts yelling and cheering throughout my whole run. It was a gigantic honor and probably the best moment of my life having my childhood hero cheer me on and congratulate me after my run. I think I did good as someone who is a rookie to major competitions.
Will recorded an interview with me on Saturday as well! I've never talked in front of a camera before, but it didn't go so bad considering a friend was interviewing me. Look out for it to be uploaded to his Youtube!
