I'm probably the only one who didn't have a problem with wildcards... but that aside should we really be fighting over this because I doubt it'll change much so just try to enjoy the show and what it has become.

I just want the best competitors in Vegas, regardless of gender.
I 100% want Jessie Graff and Meagan Martin. Why? Because they deserve it. They earned it.
A woman who made it to the 3rd obstacle in Regionals does not deserve to be wild-carded over a man who made it to the 5th obstacle in City Finals.

Except I don't believe it is. The only thing more arrogant than people making loud, ranty posts about Wildcards in the face of futility are people that take the moral high ground to shut down the opposing viewpoint they disagree with. Accusing anyone who doesn't believe all ten wildcards deserve to go to women of being sexist is frankly ludicrous. I'm not saying that the women don't deserve an extra chance. I'm just saying that there are men that deserve a shot. If Geoff had made a slip up in the City Finals and failed to qualify, yet a Wildcard went to a woman who failed the second obstacle in the qualifiers of the same region I would have a problem. I'm not saying this is the case all the time, but in that case it WOULD annoy me. I'm saying that unapologetically. Discrimination because of gender is sexism. The majority of the arguments are because of that. You asked a question as to why it is an argument and you immediately took it personal as if I was attacking you. Geez that is your problem. Don't ask a question if you don't want the answer. It is annoying to have to placate your feelings when answering your questions. No one is blasting the female wildcards because they're patriarchal twats, and if they are I haven't seen it yet (never mind, found one right under me). The majority of the arguments either revolve around men making it a lot farther than women in the qualifiers, men deserving them due to their history on the show or giving men and women an even number of wildcards. Calling out the people who complain nonstop about the wildcards is fine, but playing the sexism card is taking it a step too far.

Womens don't deserve wildcards. No, that is not an opinion, it's fact.

You know if y'all are really so up in arms about this, there's quite a simple solution for you. www.nbc.com/contact-usPlease go berate NBC about this until you are contented.

And just like that your assertion was disproved DonalM. LOL Just look at Milsush and all of the whining online (reddit, Facebook) of all of those men saying that women have no place in ANW Finals.
It IS sexism to discount the fact all women don't deserve a spot in the show reserved for the sole purpose of network discretion. This is a television show and not a sporting event. The very definition of a wildcard defines that. To say that they don't "deserve" it simply because they have a vagina is sexist. I don't give a damn if you guys think that is unfair to categorize it as such when that is indeed a fact. If your opinion is that no women deserve wildcards for ANY reason, you are a sexist. There is no other word for it.

As far as I've seen, the majority of complainers fall into this category. Thanks for proving me wrong Miksush.

I think one of the ways they can fix it for future years is have a strict qualifying rule. If you cleared City finals you are automatically in. Period. Then they can wildcard the rest based on results - but for that to happen too many variables have to change. Each region is vastly different from the rest so people can scream it's uneven. Also, they'd have to add more wildcard slots to even out the inclusion of network discretion and those cusp competitors that got reaaaaaally far but just fell short. But again, a lot has to change for that to happen. I know early ANW they have thought about that possibility but for some reason or another they changed their minds. From a pure ratings standpoint they are going with all/mostly women because they are the core demographic of this show and what is giving them the ratings. They won't change it if they are winning time slots and demos.

The ones who clear the city finals courses are the ones who have a legitimate shot at achieving total victory. Having it so that all the people who made it to the cutoff obstacle advance would be fair I think, like all 18 who made it to the Wedge in LA go to Vegas.

The wildcards do not bother me at all and historically it has been used on women the most; it is what it is but I would love them to do something different. I really think they should have a rule make it to stage three and you are automatic qualifier for next year and do not have to do the qualifier course but you have to make it stage three again to get that again that reduces down the wild cards but also opens up fresh blood and rewards the top talent that excel and get to stage three.
Just my view

Womens don't deserve wildcards. No, that is not an opinion, it's fact. Women (who made it to the third obstacle in regionals) don't deserve wildcards (over a man who made it to the fifth obstacle in the city finals). Conveniently left that part out.

In my opinion I don't think all female wildcards work because there could be people who Just miss the cut don't get one. Also it should be mixed up or have more women wildcards than males.

Why doesn't it "work"? Wildcards are their prerogative and having almost no women in Vegas proved to NBC to not give ratings. They added them in and voila their ratings shot through the roof and they won their timeslots. Explain to me how it doesn't "work" other than because they are women?

Womens don't deserve it, because they are not capable to do same what men does. I don't wanna watch horrible women run as moniker "wildcard" when i could watch good men run as moniker "wildcard". It's not sexism, womens can't do all the things men can.

It's not sexism, womens can't do all the things men can. So they don't belong on American Ninja Warrior nor Sasuke. Correct? They should GFTO of the television entertainment show. Is that what you are saying? It is still sexist considering that a lot of these women are better than some of the men on the exact same show. The fact that you are singling them out SIMPLY because they are women is sexist. You are not basing them off of merit, you are basing it because of gender. That.. is sexism.

If they are better than some of the men then let them qualify the same way as the men do xD If you hate sexism then you should also be mad at the women's preferential treatment for wildcards. After all, once women get preferential treatment, then its still sexism, but towards the other gender. In truth Miksush is correct, if this was a sport then women really should gtfo because they have 0 chance of competing with the men. "But jessie is better than some men!!". Is Jessie better than Isacc? Nope. Just because the top 1% of women are better than the bottom 20% of men, it doesn't mean squat. If Serena Williams was in mens tennis then yeah, she would be rank 30 or something, but nothing special. So tennis made a female tour/league and that works nicely. I suspect ANW will follow suit

I suspect ANW will follow suit Serena could not even beat a guy who was ranked 203 and he did not even warm up that is how far that gap is just like in the PGA the top women Golfer who won major after major in the LPGA could not even beat guys ranked in the bottom 100 in golf. The physical skill is a bigger gap then people want to admit. I like it the women are performing better in ANW it is good to see but the difference between the top females and the top males is a wide chasm a mild wide. On the wild card stated my view but at the end of the day someone is getting one and it is about ratings

It's amazing how people defend their discriminatory tendencies in a friggin' TV show that is there for entertainment purposes only. Wildcards are there because NBC wanted them to and to put who the hell they want. Now your (general plural) sexist views are out in the open so everyone can freely mock. It's amazing really. I hate to see what happens to people around you in real life instead of a tv reality show.

Yeah, it's an entertainment show, I just wanted to make it clear that if it was a genuine sporting event, women have no chance and should not bother competing Yes I was known as a misoginist by the girls in my school- funnily enough none of them ever hated me for it. And from above there's nothing to mock- Miksush, Kargaroo and I haven't said anything outrageously false. Also no one has pointed out that the real scandal here- the fact that ANW isn't really empowering women at all. NBC is only allowing pretty little girls with toned figures to compete. All these "what's your excuse" commercials showcasing them is nasty bodyshaming for overweight women.
