Honestly, i'm not surprised that NBC didn't invite Japan...I think it's time to give other teams a chance. Anyone wanna see a UK team???

Re: team(s), there will be one Team World. 7 people will be trying out for 5 spots. I'm pretty sure Tim Shieff, Owen Mackenzie (yeah...), Stefano Ghisolfi, Sean McColl, and Alexander Mars are five of them; I would speculate Perry Oosterlee and Miska Sutela are the last two.

No Perry and Miska are not in there. NBC decided last year that they are going in a totally different direction. They are picking people tied to the official spin offs that they are a part of. Call it synergy..

So anything stemming from SASUKE isn't included... That's pretty stupid if you ask me.

It's disappointing that Japan weren't invited, but not surprising. Unfortunately, the way the American course is built is to the scale of the average American, which is fair enough, but it means that the average Japanese competitor would be disadvantaged on some obstacles. Hopefully they'll have more fun at the festival they're going to than they would spending the weekend the other side of the world getting beaten by the Americans and really not knowing if they're being beaten fairly or not.

Yeah they seem to be looking forward to the Festival. Sure some of them wish they could return (I know Tomo is competitive by nature and would have love to return) but it's out of their hands. At least they can have fun and promote Sasuke 32 in the process. Lord knows they need it to keep Sasuke even relevant these days in Japan.

I would also suspect Ninja Warrior UK's Tim Champion (Failed last year at the Cargo Net in stage 1) will be competing for a spot, considering they invited by Ghisolfi, Mars etc... I think NBC will either go for him or Owen though, not both. Three UK competitors on the same team irks me, especially considering Shieff is likely guaranteed due to being team captain for Europe the past two years.

Tim Champion is a good shout. Owen, despite his undeniable talent, should be kept away from international competition. As a Brit I don't really want someone who has behaved like he has representing the country. Sheiff is the real deal and deserves a spot. However I think two British competitors us enough in a team of just five that's meant to represent all of Europe.
Also- 100 posts! If I was legally allowed to drink champagne I would.

We are no longer in a franchise that has UK, Sweden and nothing else going for it. Now we have France, Germany, Italy and god knows how many more to consider. Hell, getting TWO UK competitors on the team would be a luxury for the British, more than our fair share considering the three above. But now due to the influx of REAL Italian/French Ninjas, it makes me think Mccoll/Ghisolfi's days on the team are numbered. No need to fake it anymore. But I have to say... why Tim Champion? I mean sure, he's great, but I would've gone with Teige Matthews Palmer or Toby Segar instead.

Any of the three, really. Tim Champion came to mind first, probably because I recognised him in public in real life once, so he's the only NWUK competitor besides Tim Sheiff and Owen I know much about. But I agree the other two could do as good a job. It'll be interesting to see which ones are at the competition.

With a name like Tim Champion, I would be disappointed if he didn't get a spot. So many puns just hand-delivered to Matt Iseman...

Tim Shieff hurt his knee while testing so apparently someone else is going to get to take his place.

Probably Joe Moravsky. "Moravsky went on holiday to France aged 14 so knows the area well, says he's delighted to be representing Europe in this tournament, that's true sportsmanship" -Matt, 2016 "Joe Moravsky is the MVP!!!" Akbar, 2016 I can hear them saying this in my head. It's like a nightmare.

Sucks that Tim Sheiff is injured. Sounds like it's not too serious which is good at least. The best thing about this competition is that it gives us a decent chance of a good look at Stage 2 and 3, which chances are we won't be getting in the regular season based on how tricky the course will most likely be.
