Isn't that a bit dangerous having the BackStream before the Conveyer belt? Water and Electricity don't mix...

1. Cross Slider 2. Salmon Ladder Nobori 3. Salmon Ladder Kudari 4. Spider Walk 5. Spider Drop 6. Backstream 7. Reverse Conveyor Belt 8. Wall Lifting
I imagine the stage is back to 120 seconds adding an extra obstacle. Depends on the speed of the conveyor.

Although I'm not super stoked about not seeing anything new, I'm liking how stage 2 is now having an overall theme of having a bunch of obstacles that sap time and aren't really meant to be difficult to clear.

I haven't seen any yet Inui's most recent picture showing off the back end of Stage 2 also shows the Salmon Ladders on the right side of the photo. We know the Cross Slider and Spider Walk (and considering the climb to the Backstream is also the same, safe to assume the Spider Drop is back as well) are back because of that one selfie from Drew's girlfriend about how exhausting the night can be.

For the less-maniac among us, I circled the Salmon Ladder Nobori and Salmon Ladder Kudari in red, the ladder up to the Backstream in blue which confirms the Spider Drop's presence

What if Drew breaking it last year caused them to re-evaluate their technical operation of the obstacle and decided to change it to the counterweight safety ATS used for ANW6-7
EDIT: Actually I may be on to something... I looked at the pic again after posting this and I see cables attached to the tops of the walls

I'll be the one to say it, Stage 2 is disappointing.

I'll be the one to say it, Stage 2 is disappointing. Unfortunately, it is disappointing. I thought there was going to be a new obstacle.

I'll be the one to say it, Stage 2 is disappointing. Yeah I mean with the budget they are working with I don't believe we can expect a Sasuke 18-level renewal anytime in the future. I am surprised they kept the salmon ladder though given its on the final stage now. However, the minor changes to stage 1 are fun and it looks like we are in for a treat on the back half of the 3rd.

I know people like to do the whole blame Levi / dirty litigious Americans for spacers thing, but spacer sizes have always been a changing thing with some early tournaments having spacers twice as big as Levi's run. For example, 17 and 4 had double sized spacers, while 13 was the same as 20. I agree the spacer sizes post-20 are overkill, but it doesn't change that larger spaces than 20 have existed before 20. Since we know they weren't very consistent before, if it wasn't Levi then what's to say H&S wouldn't have jacked up the spacers to at least any one of the previously larger sizes anyway?

Never mind like was mentioned there were spacers pre-20 even if they weren't as large (and some were decent sized), they now have to lift the walls while soaking wet. Since the spacers appear to be gone, I'm inclined to think along Rider's theory that they've become counterweighted since I see the wires as well and they certainly weren't there last tournament. They got rid of the pad for the first wall now that the competitors don't slide into them anymore with the Conveyor Belt's return.
And it was common knowledge here that the budget for this tournament was slashed from last year's. 18-style renewals just aren't gonna happen unless TBS decides the show is worth more than they think it is. Setting self up for disappointment with that. Sasuke 5 had just 4 new obstacles and 2 modified obstacles and that was a killer course in terms of eliminating the field.

long as stage 3 is exciting I not too bothered about stage 2 but they should have had at least one new obstacle in it.

Something tells me that Stage 3 will be the most modified/impossible. Inui said he had "five new areas" planned, so assuming that refers to entirely new obstacles, we have still only seen two: The Pendulum and Tie Fighter. I have a feeling Inui knows that no matter what he changes in stage 1/2, people will make it through to 3, so he is purposely pouring all of his attention/budget into making stage 3 impossible for the new era. We know Inui: I'm sure he has more up his sleeve than a time-waster from 15+ tournaments ago and two modified ANW obstacles. He is saving the best for last.
