Why are Matt and Akbar so shocked MIT is doing so well? It's not college basketball, it's team ninja warrior.

Yeah, the "Let's keep bringing up that MIT is a bunch of nerds" got old FAST. The runs were good enough that they didn't have to keep hammering that point home.

Probably the funniest Team Ninja Warrior episode yet last night. It just had good commentary, and contestants. I guess most people are fine with it, but it is a lot less exciting with the same obstacles every week (at least they used to have obstacle 5 vary). But we saw different obstacles over that pool in pictures so I assume they'll switch obstacles on the regular competition.
MIT was a powerhouse team and glad they won, especially after the first guy on the other team fell and got the redundant five-second penalty. They might win it all!

Seems they are getting slaughtered in ratings. They aren't even showing up on the Top 150 cable originals.. so that's less than 150,000 are even watching since it doesn't register.

Part of that may be due to DISH Network dropping Esquire on October 1. I don't know what their portion of the cable market is, but that cannot help. It's a major bummer for me as I was looking forward to seeing Sasuke 28-32. Hopefully they will be available on the website too.

I wish they'd done more changes to the format, especially the winner-vs-loser round 2

Two episodes in a row they have featured someone who has "applied to ANW since they were 16." That's where they get their 50,000 submissions...dumb teenagers who can't read the age limit haha.

The Danish version had a much better format, eliminating the useless non-knockout round. They also added a sweet relay race using the standard course where each member tackles two obstacles, thus ensuring that the better team usually wins.

^The regular season of Team Ninja Warrior had the Team Relay at the end of the episode, I don't know if College version is because I've not been watching it. Also I'm not sure why people have such a big problem with winners face losers in round 2, if it was single elimination it'd be shorter and they don't want that, if winners face winners that means losers face losers which means a losing team automatically goes to the Team Relay, the format is fine (for regular, not college rivalry tie-in spinoffs )

To clarify, the danes also end with the longer relay (salmon ladder etc.) at the end of each episode.
But during the initial round they also have a relay race using the course that ends with the warped wall. The anchor run is less pivotal, and therefore leads to the best team winning more often.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cabrera was pressured into going first In the finals by the producers. It makes no sense that they wouldn't give him the anchor run. MIT deserved that win.

As great as Wisconsin was, I found it a bit unfair that their anchor guy is 27 and a ANW vet who cleared qualifying last year in Indy.

I think that was actually Cabrera's choice. Not only was he by far the fastest on the cargo net, it wasn't like he would have done the back half since he isn't as strong as the rock climber. So I don't see anything wrong with his choice to go first.

More than a bit of horseshit that Wisconsin had an ANW vet on their team. So many folks want to take their shot on the course and to have someone take two slots like that.... just unfair.
Not to mention how much of a ringer that turns him into.

Dory's team did it with Dan Yager and Meagan Martin in season 1 and I actually can't believe that there aren't more teams doing it.

Did anyone else have a glitch on Esquire during the championship relay and had the image jump from the salmon ladder straight to the top of the tower?
I can't believe that I was so looking forward to seeing these two powerhouses race each other, and then the image simply completely skips the most important part of the entire season!!
Or was that just me?

That same glitch pops up on the online copies too.
