What does the rating system mean? Is it out of 3? Cause then 1.7 means people hated it

I am by no means an expert so if I'm offbase by all means, correct this to those who have a better handling of it.
Nielsen ratings are a very outdated form of taking into account of households watching a program. It's used for networks to charge their TV space for advertisers mostly. The big demographic advertisers like are 18-49 year old adults because hypothetically, those are the people buying stuff.
The rating points are who of the households who are signed up to the program watching a show at that moment. One ratings point is one percent of the total number of households with TVs. So if a show has a rating of 5, that means that 5 percent of people with TVs are watching that show. So roughly 1.7% of the total numbers of households with TVs under the Nielsen program watching ANW live.

ANW this week got crushed by NBA Playoffs (6.1 rating) understandably but still holding steady at 1.6. When do they change days?

For some reason they are going to be moving up an hour for next week. So ANW will be on 9/8 central. Wonder if that'll do something.

I found the ratings in Canada for American Ninja Warrior from a company called Numeris. They do their ratings weekly, and measure it by AMA, which is the average number of viewers watching the program during any given minute. These ratings are released 9 to 10 days after the Sunday of that week on PDFs here. For the All-Star Special, it was ranked 14th for the week of May 23rd - May 29th with an AMA of 1237 (or 1.237 million viewers). Source here.Episode 1 was 16th for the week of May 30th - June 5th with an AMA of 918 (or 918 thousand viewers). Source here.Episode 2 was 13th for the week of June 6th - June 12th with an AMA of 998 (or 998 thousand viewers). Source here.Episode 3 was 3rd for the week of June 13th - June 19th with an AMA of 1428 (or 1.428 million viewers). Source here. The interesting thing is that ANW got a big viewership bump when it moved from Wednesday to Monday. Also, the advertising for the All-Star special on every network channel owned by Bell might've helped the viewership that Sunday. I would assume that the viewership ratings for Episode 4 would be released either tomorrow or this Wednesday, and Episode 5 would be next week. These might be useful to see if a Ninja Warrior Canada/Canadian Ninja Warrior is going to happen. Also, keep in mind that Canada's population is 10x less than the USA's population (36 million compared to 323 million)

They released the numbers for Episode 4 in Canada, and it looks like they did somewhat well. Episode 4 was 6th for the week of June 20th - June 26th with an average audience of 1.265 million viewers. Source here.

Source here. This should be in it's own thread involving Canada's airing of all ANW previous seasons. This particular thread was for ANW8's domestic market.

Well Canada isn't airing the previous seasons, just Season 8.
