I doubt there'll be another rule controversy but I wouldn't be surprised. Not because they're xenophobic, but because rules like that in general shouldn't exist in my opinion. Unless there's a safety reason why a certain thing cannot be done, I prefer obstacles that can be approached in a number of ways where the only rule is to not touch the water. I think there was only a CCH ruling because if everyone used the banned technique it could have defeated some of the point of the obstacle and made it much easier than it was designed to be. I'm fairly sure there will be a new Cliffhanger this tournament, either SCH with a brutal rest of Stage 3 or it won't change much and they'll probably do a UCH into CCH. But yea, should be fun to see

Lets just reiterate the whole Drew 31 controversy:
- TBS doesn't have a vendetta against Drew, otherwise he wouldn't have been invited back, much less given a re-run or shown in the broadcast at all.
- The CCH rule existed before Drew ever stepped foot in Japan. The forward-swing method is deemed too unsafe to have people consistently try. It's easy to try in ANW because the ledges are huge. That technique has been around for years and TBS is very aware of it.
- Even after the confrontation, he was allowed to re-run because it was a miscommunication between staff and competitors (he wasn't told he couldn't do it and no one realized how he was going to do it until it was too late) and thus a fixable and preventable mistake.
- Drew never trained the proper technique in the first place, which is on him.
Discussing Japan's xenophobia isn't relevant here because this wasn't an example of it. And America trying to call out xenophobia in other countries is damn near throwing stones in cracked glass houses to begin with.

Plot twist... Drew is on the official TBS list. His name however, is so poorly spelt, no one knows it is him. I dunno about Drew Dreschel, but this Drew Doressheru guy is a real badass!

As one of the main forum statistics people, I always look forward to seeing the competitor list and who's getting each number. Seriously though, whenever Inui has been director, the numbering system has been so much more structured (unlike 15-27, when it was a pain in the butt to figure out half of the competitors' starting positions). Plot twist... Drew is on the official TBS list. His name however, is so poorly spelt, no one knows it is him. Were the chairs in SASUKE 31 for the fastest 20 times? If so I hope they get rid of them for SASUKE 32 because I think it's kinda unnecessary. Also I predict there will be no Stage 2B and it will just be a thing lost in history

I would imagine it would be more safe because you could actually see the ledge the whole time.

I figured it had something to do with possibly hitting the back of your head. Rewatched a couple ANW runs last night and at least one person came suuuuper close to whacking the back of their head while swinging

There was no rule furthest-the-fastest rule. The only time that happened was in SASUKE 29 for the 3rd Stage because they thought ASEAN Cup would be a bigger deal than it actually was. (By the way, I hated that rule but I LOVED that clock! I want that clock to be a permanent fixture to the 3rd Stage.) Come on, guys. We would have heard about that by now.
To clear the air on Stage 2B: That was going to be a thing assuming there were more than 10 clears heading into the 3rd Stage. Seeing as there weren't, it was scrapped. With its exclusion from SASUKE 31, I imagine we'll never be seeing that again.
Considering there's talk of only having 5 new obstacles, I can't imagine there's going to be any significant format changes.

Tbf 5 new obstacles along with variations to old obstacles can be a substantial change. I think Stage 3 will be a beast this year and I'd like to think that if they really wanted to stop people reaching it they would put the Backstream as the first obstacle of Stage 2 making the Salmon Ladder wayyyy harder Also only 8 hours until competitor list is released! I can't wait x)
