A cool thing about that win by Joseph Schooling is the picture of him with Phelps from 2008.

Kaori Icho just won her fourth consecutive gold medal, the first woman to do so. Tomorrow (I think), her compatriot Saori Yoshida will be aiming to join her. Don't expect to see either on NBC TV probably.

Kaori Icho just won her fourth consecutive gold medal, the first woman to do so. Tomorrow (I think), her compatriot Saori Yoshida will be aiming to join her. Don't expect to see either on NBC TV probably. NBCSN just aired all three matches tonight. Only Kaori Icho's match was shown in full. Eri Tosaka and Sara Dosho's matches both started about three minutes in. Holy cow, in Kaori Icho's match, Russia really likes to pull hair. It was frustrating watching Koblova constantly grabbing and clawing at Icho's hair. Happiest coach ever? Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

NBCSN actually aired all three of today's women's wrestling gold medal matches live! Which makes it annoying that they couldn't air yesterday's three gold matches live.

US gets DQ'd in the men's 4x100m relay, which means Canada gets bumped up to bronze!!! (sorry Americans)

Because it took a while to clear up why the US got DQed, Canadians on twitter (who might also be bitter about that whole race-walking bronze medal appeal battle) were calling for Japan to also be DQed to get Team Canada moved up to silver. For the record, it's OK to step on the line during the straightaway if you don't impede others but it's not OK to step on the line on a bend (ala Canada in 2012).

US got DQ'd because of a poor hand-over of the baton. Not sure if this has merit, but they also stepped out of their lane on the final straightaway.

They were DQed only because of the hand-over. As I said above, stepping on/over the line if there is no impeding the other runner(s) is allowed on a straightaway. Stepping on or over the line on a bend gives the runner an advantage whereas on a straightaway it does not.

the US is appealing. I hope they don't screw us over again (especially after that race walking appeal-ception debacle)

South Korea Inbee Park won the Gold Medal for the Women's Golf. Lydia Ko (Rank #1 in Rolex Rankings) Won Silver for New Zealand.
As for the infamous Men's Golf that got basically the best out of the Zika Virus, Justin Rose won the Gold for Britain. Henrik Stenson (#4 in Golf, & the Highest ranked Golfer to enter Olympics) got Silver for Sweden.

Great Britain 4. Russia 5. Germany 6. Japan 7. France 8. Australia 9. Italy 10. Canada (They beat South Korea by 1 medal ) Are you happy OwlRTA?

The top ten will probably be shuffled around. France is in at least two finals (handball and boxing) and are guaranteed at least silver in both which would push them past Japan (Japan's only hopes to medal are in rhythmic gymnastics) and possibly past Germnay. Likewise Italy has at least one guaranteed medal and may outmedal Australia by the end of the day. Canada is safe though. Any chance of South Korea, the Netherlands and Brazil (the latter two are at 18 but are guaranteed one more medal today) catching Canada involves winning the marathon (all) and the mountain cycling (Netherlands and Brazil).
