Is it still sponsored by POM Wonderful® or do we have a new sponsor? For some reason I've become very curious.

Pom was on a one-year deal basically as an example to future sponsors as to what they could attach their product to in future seasons of the show. That's why it was so overdone. Ideally they would space it out this season. Someone who was in Atlanta could probably clarify the extent of the new sponsor(s). Also GG about the back of my head showing up

I heard the budget was also cut but that could be just rumors. This happens every single year. Heck.. part of the SMF drinking game is identifying who is the title Sponsor for ANW every year. LOL

Part of me is disappointed since he's been in this community for so many years and has been very consistent on the regionals
At the same time he's been failing stage 1 for 4 years in a row and I can understand them wanting to give someone else a chance

Is it my imagination but this season seems to be a purge of the old guard to make way for the new? I may be reading it wrong but it just seems that way to me. With more and more applications 50K+ I can imagine how they would be tempted to do that. Still, part of the allure of shows like this is to consistently see familiar faces. ANW doesn't seem to want to do that though as evidenced by past edits of the show. Now I think it is more deliberate of a purging to start new. Again, IMO.

But it was all filmed in an old train station...XD Pssh it looks like it's a decent arena, it's not a REAL ghetto venue unless you have to worry about getting tetanus We should really stop with all this off topic stuff, we're getting way off track That was my thought exactly XD

I despise, DESPISE that Campbell did not a get a slot. I can understand letting new people try, but why should that include cutting some veterans, especially when there are so many nobody competitors every year who get their chance and fail? Campbell has been dedicated from the start, he built a home course, he was the best American on Sasuke back in 2011, and he has still QUALIFIED for Vegas 4 times. That alone is an impressive feat.
What next? Will Brent be cut? Stratis? Flip? McGrath? NBC needs to seriously revaluate their stance on this, especially considering they love precious ratings so much.
And let's be real here. The budget is only cut because someone had to pay a million last year, and they already got off easy by avoiding having to pay 2.

I bet 80% of ratings come from the 2 minute sob stories, 19% just wanna see Kacy run, with the other 1% being hardcore fans like us. (Kacy Count: 1011100010101010001111110010101)

To be honest this has been happening for a number of years. How many times have people flipped tables because their favorite was either not invited or fast-forwarded to oblivion.. or even cut from the show even if they cleared? This sadly is par for the course and one of the reasons why people have issues with the format of this particular show. It's not a very loyal show.

Unfortunately the main problem is that NBC have a lot of footage to cut down into one hour. So, sadly, not everyone will be shown. However, considering the filler that's aired, they could air many more runs than they do normally.

Lord knows we've seen Sasuke pared down to an hour and a half (minus commercials) and they still got the competitors they wanted highlighted. NBC fundamentally doesn't think that way. Either way, we're going to sidetrack another thread. Anyone else that we know is relegated to the walk-on line now? It's this week right?

Makes me wonder really. There'll still be a fair amount of people who won't beat the first obstacle as always, but people like David are missing out for the sake of fresh blood. Andrew Karsen missing out last season was harsh and unwarranted IMO, and this is even worse. Ah well. Note to competitors: Sob stories help. Jamie Rahn, now I think of it, has a pretty decent thing going on with his green wig. Same with Lance Pekus' cowboy hat. It makes them memorable to the casual viewers and greatly reduces their chances of missing out on a callback because let's face it, NBC are making a show here, not a sporting event, and memorable is what they want.

Thats what David has going against him. He's great in qualifying but he's failed stage 1 4 years in a row, and as much as I love David he's not overly memorable to the casual viewer. He doesn't do anything overly spectacular (I.e. Kevin Bull, etc) but he makes his way through the obstacles ho hum. Hopefully he gets on this year and makes it past stage 1 honestly

Sad part is had he had better luck at Stage 1 he most likely would've won the show in season 5 or 6.
Ah well. We'll know the course pretty soon.

And they made David a captain for TNW You have to admit with being on a smaller network and being a spinoff that Team Ninja Warrior was geared to more hardcore fans than the regular show. Like how main roster WWE is catered mostly to marks and NXT is catered to Smarks, this is pretty much the Ninja Warrior version of that (Although I get the feeling the people who understand this reference are more the ones who understand this anyways )
