Strat won't be able to compete in Atlanta. He's still recovering from shoulder surgery and hopes ANW will allow him to compete in a latter region to allow for a bit more healing. It's up to casting to allow that region change. If he is allowed I don't see why he wouldn't be in Philadelphia as well and omg you are right that Philadelphia is going to be ridiculous. LOL Atlantas walk on line has started. Hope this doesn't become a trend everywhere Reaction to the walk on situation or Stratis' injury?

The walk on situation has gotten seriously out of hand... I thought things were too ridiculous last year... this is insane... How bad is it? Could you describe the scene? And are applications this year the highest ever? It would make sense, given the huge viral sensation of Kacy in 2014, then Isaac and Geoff in 2015.

Well applications are growing but that's not the issue with the Walk On lines, I'm talking about how long people are waiting... season 4 you could be there the same day, season 5 maybe a day or 2, season 6 was like a week, season 7 was like 2 weeks, season 8 is already 20 F**KING DAYS!!!

Jeez. I suppose though that as the show goes on, people will train harder and harder, becoming more and more desperate and determined to get on, leading to the longer waiting times. Are you waiting? And yeah, I agree that I don't hope it becomes a trend.

The folks over at NinjaHQ have been keeping a significantly more comprehensive list, so I will defer to them for the full list of scheduled competitors. ninjahq.net/ANW8-Atlanta-QualifierDamn.. I saw quite a lot of them over the weekend at the National Ninja League Finals.. no WONDER they were training like crazy after the competition ended. It's only a couple weeks away! Geez.. had I known I would have wished them lu.. wait.. I did sorta but man seeing their names and knowing how quickly it's coming up it gets real. A lot of them drove or flew far I didn't even THINK which regions they really were from! Strat won't be able to compete in Atlanta. Walk on lines.. I feel bad for Strat but since I follow him on Twitter I had known of the situation for a while now. He had surgery a few weeks ago.

He's a true ANW veteran and loyalist, been around for years and has done NBC favours in ratings, miling him as a returning "elite" etc... At this point they owe it to him to grant his request and help him out. If they don't I'll be shocked.

Me too Keeping fingers crossed. IIRC Strat mentioned he will be on hand to cheer on his home region but won't be able to compete yet. He was still wincing when I saw him and no wonder.. I asked what he had done.. I'm surprised he can even move his arm! Any other person that's not an athlete wouldn't be able to recover so fast.. then again.. no one else BUT an athlete would have pushed their body as fast to require such a surgery. Many a wounded vet was walking around in New Jersey over the weekend. Heck, Travis Rosen is coming back from a broken wrist and used the opportunity to compete to see how his recovery was going. Man.. what a way to check out how your progress is going like a really strong competition course!

There is some good news Please Please Please follow the rules. My crew is having a PR nightmare with confirmed venues. Let's us release the rules! (Thank you) I hope rules get released soon but if you were talking to me that picture wasn't a message I received Jonathan Sharp Brown posted it on Comrades to warn everyone not to line up before the official line starts. But yeah here's hoping things go well for you guys at A Deign & Co considering this walk on situation has gotten insane

But yeah here's hoping things go well for you guys at A Deign & Co considering this walk on situation has gotten insane It wasn't an attack for you! (Promise~!) I know who the text is from and who it is for. Just be patient. Those casting guys know about the Walk-On line and they are trying their best. Just hang in there everyone... I remember when I used to have the walk-on record back in ANW5. I can't say what crew I'm on, my position, and who I work for but my goal is to fix the "Sasuke ANW Seperation." I'm on the bottom of the totem pole but I'll work my way up and hopefully have some changes next season. Well so far the best situation I've heard to keep things from getting too out of control but it might be a good idea to pitch this idea to them

I wish my beard and hat counted, too, as I'd have them third and fourth it (then ask my wife and girls, to add another four people to the support list).

Some of the best ever ANW competitors (Geoff comes to mind) came from walk on lines, and this would randomise to the point that anyone who shows up gets a chance to run. Sure it would be "fair" as in everyone has an equal chance, but it would also be hideously unfair considering some guy that just walks on has the same chance of competing as someone who trains year round, is dedicated, has been rejected before and still hasn't got a call. I say make it 50% line based and 50% randomised.

Last year you had 50,000 applications. I don't even want to venture the size of this year's pool. There's a reason why the lines are getting bigger and crazier, they made someone a millionaire last season and 2 people proved it CAN be done. Everyone and their mother are going to show up and there's nothing anyone can do about it but pray they can herd the cats.

Tony's (girlfriend's) solution pretty much is 50/50, he's pretty much suggesting people show up for a drawing, those people have to do a traditional walk on line, the devoted fans who would have taken the time to walk on anyways will still be able to do that and the randoms who want to be on TV will be like "Wait 5 days? Forget that..." and the real fans stay

The publicity generated by these events however, is everything. The average jo, whilst spurred on by Geoff and Isaac, must know they have little to no chance. At the end of the day, it is an obstacle course, on television watched by millions, that can offer a good challenge to anyone that gives it a try. That alone will bring people in. The only difference is that now more people know.

The only difference is that now more people know. Oh I wasn't arguing with you, I meant that on a response to the situation with the Walk ons. IMO it's a complicated situation having to wrangle 10 times more people than last year (for the reasons I listed) with the pool of applicants being larger and less spots to regionals. That ratio alone elevates the stakes on those willing to risk a lot to get on the show by any means necessary. It's a difficult situation with extremely emotional people that will camp out a month in advance because they weren't called by casting. Emotions are already going to run high and I feel bad for casting because they have to try to neutralize the situation before it gets completely out of hand. Edit: yes.. the champions and money does bring a new demographic to the table. To ignore that is sadly being a bit naive. More people watched that final than any other year. You bet people will line up for a chance to become millionaires. Ninja Warrior has always given that false assumption that because it looks easy on television that they can do it. People wouldn't enter if they didn't think they couldn't win it all. That's the allure of the show.

anyone who shows up ( AND WAITS IN LINE ANOTHER FOUR OR FIVE DAYS) gets a chance to run. Forgive my "fixed that for you" edit there, but believe me, someone that just shows up and gets selected to wait in line still with no guarantees of running isn't going to put in the effort to stay in line for four or five days. We had more than a few people in Dallas that showed up the day before and decided that they didn't want to put in the small amount of effort of staying in line the rest of that day and the next.

Those casting guys know about the Walk-On line and they are trying their best. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is casting doing about this? We haven't heard anything from them except the "don't line up yet" message. Last year's solution wasn't exactly ideal (I won't reiterate why), although it was a step in the right direction. Are they brainstorming new ideas? Are they listening to our complaints? Sorry if I'm offending anyone, but it just doesn't seem that hard of a problem to solve. Tony's (girlfriend's) solution seems best; a couple other solutions that have been offered are pretty good. And we have been offering these solutions for at least the past 3 seasons. But we have no reason to believe casting is actually considering any of these things. I realize casting is probably very busy these days and the walk on line isn't exactly their top priority. But they need to do something. What happens when people start fighting, or there is a riot in a major public gathering place, or worse, in the name of American Ninja Warrior? Imagine the PR nightmare that would be.
