I've always viewed ANW as more game than sport (or rather a game masquerading as sport), and it's clear NBC does as well, otherwise they wouldn't stack vs. The World in their favor or pay out all grand champions instead of the 'fastest' one. The actually competitors view it as sport, as they should considering the amount of time put into their training. Having run organized sport in my lifetime.. be happy it's a "show" and not a sport. You don't want an organized corruption Olympic committee anywhere near it.. It's a game show and as such they have prizes for gameshow winner. Only difference is that it models itself against a more popular Japanese version that also doesn't give out cash for anyone but a winner (in fact.. 4 in 19 years..) why should America be any different? They are just as dedicated if not more. Most of those don't have the chances to "try out" for a show they spent more than half your lifetime to even get on the show. Be happy there are soooooo many opportunities here on TOP of getting money for clearing a qualifying.

Plenty to get upset over regarding the show than that.

Okay, sorry for the late update, this weekend took a lot out of me. {spoiler for NDA protection}
Grand Prize is still $1m, with the stipulation that if multiple people clear Stage 4, the GP will be split evenly among all champions.
City bonuses have been upped to include 3 places for fastest times: 3k/2k/1k for quals, 5k/3k/2k for finals.
That is all.

I think that if multiple people win, they should EACH get a million dollars.

I think that if multiple people win, they should EACH get a million dollars. While that would be the most 'fair,' this still ensures that multiple people are properly credited with the title. No more qualifying or clarification statements or giving in to jerk-a** demands. And no more doing everything asked of you and getting nothing but a handshake and a boot to the a** for your efforts. $1 Million is an excessive prize (granted a completely deserving one) anyways. If something impossible like 10 people won in a single season, they still each get 100K which is significantly more than anyone in Japan would ever get. This is the most practical decision that can be made with a prize that large.

Meh, they can't just change the rules all the time. I think they should bring back the old rules. Only one winner - the fastest wins. Rules are rules.

While all opinions are respected here, you are most definitely in the minority on that one. This has been an issue for quite a few months now here...in ANY other version of Sasuke/NW around the world, anyone who completes the final stage is the winner, and that's how it is. There has been quite a bit of fan backlash because A) Geoff didn't get payed anything and B) Isaac has been a complete a*****e to everyone the past 5-6 months, but that's in the Isaac Caldiero thread. Moral of the story - they don't want another Isaac vs Geoff scenario. Hell this format is WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

No matter how many total victories/Kanzenseihas, only fastest time wins the Dongs.

I wonder if they knew about the backlash of the whole ANW7 incident and decided to expand the prizes (I'm sorry for having to go the meme route, There was just no way I could pass it up... Blame Vietnam for the name of their currency )

The other side of this coin is that there were prizes for the fastest completes in each of Stages 1, 2, and 3. Stage 1 fastest times got to be in the international comp (which meant free practice on future stages, not to mention that the winning team got 50mVND to split and 2nd place got 20mVND...3rd place split the big bagel), Stage 2 five fastest got 10mVND (I think) and Stage 3 three fastest got 30mVND. For the sake of comparison, 10mVND is equivalent to about $450. So there were actual other prizes to be had AKA PLENTY OF DONGS FOR EVERYONE. J/s.

Me too. It just sounds plain wrong what occurred no matter who any of us are or any references I may be misreading. It really just seems more and more not right every so often I read something new. I guess I won't type anything else on it, though. Feel free to message me if you need anything, Phillip. Good luck in training this Summer and Autumn.

There's never been more than 1 winner at once at any other occasion in any of the 31 Sasuke competitions so your argument is moot. Clearly you wouldn't have been expecting multiple completions at once after more than 30 competitions of that not occuring. What the original point of the competition was who would be the first ANW, not who will be the first ANW's. Having a second prize was never any part of the rules and should never even have been changed. All sports and competitions have only 1 winner. There's no sport or competition with multiple winners.
