Jump isn't that big... honestly I can safely say I'd clear that gap with no problem what so ever, even if my arms were tired.
Maybe it's just because I'm good at that kind of thing, but it just looks plain easy to me. (Not saying I'm awesome and can beat stage 3, just saying that specific obstacle would be easy for me)

Sorry, my fault. I brought the football trash talk in here.
Anyway, a grand total of two people have tried the Gliding Ring. And both in different situations. I think more people need to try it a lot more before we can definitively declare the obstacle harder or easier than the Pipe Slider.
I always thought part of the point of the Gliding Ring was that if you didn't control yourself and just slid down, you'd lose control and once you hit the bars, you'd fly off and not necessarily in a good way.

That didn't happen with Yuuji.
And I never thought the gliding ring was harder than the pipe slider... ever.
Pipe Slider is one of the evilest obstacles ever, because it's REALLY hard to jump forward and build momentum without moving backwards.
It wastes time and if you mess up yoru rythm you have to start all over and your energy will drain fast. Not only that, but with the pipe slider you had to hold your arms almost at a 90 degree angle and with the gliding ring you can just dangle and build momentum without going backwards...
And the bigger gap does NOT compensate for the difficulty of the pipe slider, I'm sorry.
Pipe slider was pure evil...

Ya know I thought the jump looked kind of easy too and yes it's nothing like the pipe slider. Yuuji got the momentum I've always wanted to see happen, the kind of momentum I would try to get. Thgil, I just thought the distance was still considerable and we've still only had one attempt on Gliding Ring, Nagano's attempt was a malfunction and not the way it was meant to be.
and to clear something up, people. I don't believe they "Told Nagano to just go." The way it would have happened is that before the 3rd stage even started, they were trying to get the Gliding Ring right, but they did the best they could and then started up the 3rd stage with Miyazaki. They never knew who or if anyone would make it to the ring, otherwise they would be fixing it in the middle of Nagano's run lol.

I wish you couldn't go higher of a swing than your momentum swing.
I thought this was a one shot obstacle, meaning, you will slide down, and Jump off on the momentum of the slide. Oh well.

I honestly think that would make the obstacle worse if it was one-shot. Then it is just the Circle Slider in the 3rd Stage.
Where is the suspense in that?

Because you only get one chance, if you don't swing your damnest in one shot, why make it harder on yourself by letting it drop down? Then again, I do need to see the end to know about it lol.

I'm fine with how it is now. Elegant ending to the stage, and probably hilarious if you actually fail the jump.

I'm fine with it as this is how it is supposed to work, but just proves Nagano was screwed from total victory in 21 gah.

I thought this was a one shot obstacle, meaning, you will slide down, and Jump off on the momentum of the slide. Oh well. Actually you could still do that. I mean Urushihara just hopped off with his a**. Now remember how Nagano tried to start it (He obviously watched the demonstrators attempting the Final Ring in 18 and 20), Now imagine a jump like that one the working Gliding Ring. If you want a one shot obstacle, wasn't the Slider Jump enough for you?

I personally think that the producers should shoot somewhere between the way the ring worked in 21 and the way it worked in 22. IMO, there was hardly any effort involved in getting the ring down the track in 22 other than holding your bodyweight up. However in 21, it was much too difficult, because you actually had to hop the ring down the track which is much too difficult after completing all the obstacles before it. I think that somewhere in between would be good, because it would present a fair challenge to the top competitors getting the ring down the track, and then, the jump would be more difficult after doing that but not insanely difficult.

I feel so bad for Nagano... Really, he was cheated in 21... The gliding ring obviously malfunctioned and now it's working (gliding)... Sigh... I think Sasuke is dead to me now, seriously...

Judging by what you go through before the final ring, I'd welcome the break. Also in each tournament since Sasuke 3, the platform from the pipe slider got further and further away.

You know what I don't understand... why testers did this, and it was still messed up for Nagano? Obviously we haven't seen the testers, but what sets Nagano apart from the testers, and why did it take Nagano's unfortunate failure to change it?

Wow guys, chill out. Who cares if it was a malfunction?
There have been a LOT of malfunctions on obstacles, that's just part of it.
Nagano's really wasn't that bad.
People keep saying he would've beaten the course had the gliding ring been working right. Seriously? I'll have to disagree.
Nagano had no energy left, he couldn't hold onto the gliding ring. Those 3 short hops he did took energy but you could tlel he was already spent and had nothing left.
He probably owuldn't have been able to swin to the ledge with the little energy he had left, and even if he did there's no way he had enough energy to beat the final stage, he was done for the day.
Don't make excuses for him, he lost, big deal. I REALLY doubt the malfunction changed Sasuke history. It didn't glide but it honestly didn't take much strength to get it down the track. it's the equivalent of maybe 2 salmon ladder gaps.

Watch Nagano's run on the Gliding ring again, he spends at LEAST 30 seconds hanging on the ring from start to finish, and he is violently jarred backwards when he first starts because the ring sticks... He takes about 15 hops as well... Watch the footage again, then let's talk...

Dwizzo: You're over-reacting. Sasuke is dead to you because 1 tiny malfunction?
Wow...
I figured you'd be the one replying to me aswell.
In any case, I doubt Nagano would've beaten the final stage, him losing the gliding ring changes nothing.
Part of Sasuke is being able to adapt. Nagano didn't expect the faults in the gliding ring, and he couldn't over-come it.
Nagano has alreayd beaten Sasuke, I honestly don't care that he didn't in 21. The obstacle malfunctioned, tough luck. He probably wouldn't have beaten the final stage anyway.
People seem to thikn the new final stage is easy... well yes it DOES have a leaniant time limit, but you have the toughest 3rd stage ever right before. Nagano showed he had almost no energy left, he was hurting just dangling form a bar. There's no way he could've climbed that 22.5 M tower in that time limit. Nagano is a great rope climber but he just didn't have the energy.
Seriously, you are waaay over-reacting.

Wow guys, chill out. Who cares if it was a malfunction? Don't call everyone out when you're pointing fingers at an obsessive fanboy. Just saying, there's been a lot of sane competent discussion here. People keep saying he would've beaten the course had the gliding ring been working right. Seriously? I'll have to disagree. Nagano had no energy left, he couldn't hold onto the gliding ring. Those 3 short hops he did took energy but you could tlel he was already spent and had nothing left. Every single slide he performed took a ridiculous amount of strength and energy to do. And how many of those did he do? 10? 15? And those are just the small ones, followed by the 3 big attempts to get into the "notch". Holding onto something like that is tiring, sure. But having to pull your whole body up in order to get it to shift around in any manner is soooooooo much more tiring. He probably owuldn't have been able to swin to the ledge with the little energy he had left, and even if he did there's no way he had enough energy to beat the final stage, he was done for the day. He could have very easily swung to the ledge. Like I just said, if he could have used the momentum of the swing all the way and simply swung his legs and let go, one he could have landed it very easily, I wholeheartedly believe that. Don't make excuses for him, he lost, big deal. I REALLY doubt the malfunction changed Sasuke history. It didn't glide but it honestly didn't take much strength to get it down the track. it's the equivalent of maybe 2 salmon ladder gaps. I generally don't get into what if's, but this one is pretty obvious. Something went seriously wrong in the design and set up of the obstacle. Even though I said he would have made it, here's what I have to say; We don't know, and will never know, if he would have made it to the landing pad, had the ring actually went gliding down the bar, instead of stuck all the way down.

Knowing only a fraction of what went on in 21 I can tell you that it did not work as intended and there was a collective "oh crap" moment when they got to the 3rd stage and dealt with the ring. A combination of things were wrong (I have my own speculation on it but I don't know the facts on that). What I do know is that Nagano and Higuchi had a long conversation about this on the side of the course before they even talked to the media. It was evident to the people watching that they were discussing the ring by their body movement. You can thank Nagano that the ring is still there. I'm sure his critique of what went wrong allowed Yuuji to experience what was SUPPOSED to happen the first time. Sure Nagano is dissapointed but he also knows the course well enough to know to expect anything.
