I would love to see Geoff Britten and Isaac Caldiero compete in Sasuke 32 and Yusuke Morimoto compete in ANW8. I understand this will not happen due to the continuing animosity between NBC and TBS, but I think it would be interesting to see how each competitor handled the opposite course, and whether any of them could become dual Grand Champions. I would be especially curious to see how Geoff and Isaac performed on stages 3 and 4 in Sasuke, and how Yusuke would fare on stages 3 and 4 in Las Vegas. Any thoughts?

It's likely that it would never happen because technically ANW "broke away" from SASUKE because NBC wanted to make the show "bigger and better". Since the "split" in 2012, only 4 competitors in SASUKE have come from the US: Will Dodd, Josh Lobeck and his brother Joe in SASUKE 28; and Drew Drechsel in SASUKE 30 and SASUKE 31. But it would be really cool if we saw Isaac and Geoff in SASUKE 32. I would say they would both reach Stage 3 before falling victim to the Cliffhanger.

Sadly I doubt that the full reciprocation will happen (meaning anyone other than Americans in ANW8). Sasuke has had Americans on there and had it not been for NBC's animosity (and TBS' loyalty to G4/Comcast) we wouldn't be in this mess. I know there is interest for it to happen among the fanbase and even the competitors but it's highly doubtful it will happen on the NBC side.. Sasuke side too soon to tell.

I agree that unfortunately the corporate culture as it exists in NBC and, to some extent TBS, prevents my scenario from taking place. I tend to agree that Geoff would fall on his first attempt in competition on the real crazy cliffhanger, due to his weight to strength ratio being unfavorable. Isaac I think is more favorably situated, as he carries less weight and probably has superior grip strength developed by his year-round rock climbing. So I see him passing the CCH, and probably reaching stage four. How he would do there would depend on his spider climb ability, which I don't recall seeing him perform in regional finals competition. Since he's already beaten a 30 second time limit on a 75 foot rope climb, I believe he would have a realistic chance of total victory in Sasuke.
Morimoto would likely have no problem on the ANW8 third stage, assuming no changes from ANW7's version. If they toughen it up by, say, adding the Body Prop and Rumbling Dice at the beginning and the Devil Steps after the UCH-CCH combo, then maybe not. I do wonder if he could put up a sufficiently fast pure rope climb to beat a 75-foot rope in 30 seconds. Even Urushihara took 33.3 seconds to go 66 feet on the final climb in Sasuke 27, so I doubt Morimoto could generate the speed or demonstrate the stamina to clear ANW8 if the same final stage is presented. But he is young enough that it would not surprise me if he could do it. I honestly thought no American could do it, yet two succeeded. Let's hope some day NBC and TBS will allow this speculation to come to pass.

If any SASUKE grand champion is going to ANW it's for USA vs The World. As far as ANW goes, I don't think we'll be seeing any Americans in SASUKE other than Drew (for now).

It took Caldiero his third try to make it to ANW's stage 3, and that was after constant training on replicas. None of us know what SASUKE 32 is going to be like, so it all depends on someone's adaptability.

As a reminder: ANW is not SASUKE. To use an analogy for this context, ANW is to MLS as SASUKE is to the FIFA World Cup. Imagine the awkwardness if Manchester United tried to compete in the MLS. SASUKE is the obstacle course competition that we know and love drawn out on the world stage. While it's not necessarily intended to crown the best competitor in the world, it has the cultural assimilation that ANW lacks by design. As a reminder, Yusuke did compete on the Vegas course for USA vs. The World and struggled to adapt to the oversized obstacles. And for the record, all three compete in Proto SASUKE

I was wondering why Drew gets to compete on Sasuke? Malaysia I suppose? But isn't there a deal that if you compete on ANW, you cannot compete anywhere else for a length of time? Also what would happen if Drew won over there? haha

Also what would happen if Drew won over there? haha Drew got an invitation to Sasuke by being the winner of the ASEAN Open Cup, and he managed to get special permission from NBC to let him go to Japan. If he managed to win on Sasuke, then NBC would freak out

I don't think NBC would freak out much now, after Isaac & Geoff made the top in ANW. Had Drew won last year though, that would have caused a stir. Now they would twist it into an " America rules all!" type of thing.

Yep he was winner of the ASEAN in both team and individual so they gave him a spot then made it to the 3rd and earned another set after that. Each time TBS had to jump through hoops to get Drew back on the show. Since then NBC has amended the NDA to not include Sasuke.. directly.. though they still mention that it's probably best not to since it usually coincides with regionals anyway. That said, it's still pretty screwed up since NBC has zero desire to let anyone on the ANW/USA side into Sasuke since it dilutes from ANW not making it clear cut. They don't plan on changing that either.

I always wanted to be a fly on the wall at NBC when Brent and Kacy showed up in X-Warrior. They prob gave them permission but it just seemed so out of the blue to the online community with zero fanfare or notice.

NBC didn't even know about it.

Lets be real here, Brent and Kacy could do virtually anything they wanted and no one from NBC would get mad.

To be fair.. only TBS flip their lid and sued the Chinese creators, they didn't go back against the athletes. This wouldn't happen in Sasuke though and that's what this thread is ultimately about.

Relevant to this thread is Morimoto's result on stage four of the 2015 USA vs. the World competition, but which didn't air on the Esquire broadcast of that event. Anyone have his time, and was it a 75 foot rope climb as in ANW7? And for comparison purposes, how did Ian Dory do as far as his time up the rope?

As mentioned in the ANW7 thread, we don't know the time other than Morimoto was faster. They ran at the same time and when Morimoto got to the buzzer he realized he was alone up there momentarily. I guess people can surmise how much time it takes for that to happen. He doesn't remember seeing the time. He was only paying attention to his own run and only when he hit the buzzer did he pay attention to where Ian was.

That belongs on it's own thread - USA vs. World.
