Eight months ago in Las Vegas, Geoff Britten watched a million dollars slip out of his hands on a time tiebreaker. This weekend in Hainesport, New Jersey, Britten left no doubt and secured the first ever National Ninja League Championship. Britten was the only person to defeat the extremely difficult Hang Climbing in the Third Stage and ultimately fell on the Flying Bar. Drew Drechsel finished in 2nd as the only other competitor to defeat the Cliffhanger. Josh Cook finished 3rd on a time tiebreaker. Jo Jo Bynum and Joe Moravsky rounded out the top five. Jesse Labreck secured the women's title on Saturday night after making it to the final obstacle of the First Stage. Both Labreck and Britten won $1,000 as well as free training at any NNL gym for the next year. You can watch archived footage of the competition here. Apologies for the quality, as we experienced internet connectivity issues all weekend. Commentary was provided by myself along with Philip Scott as well as from Will Marchese, James McGrath, and Ryan Stratis intermittently throughout the weekend.

I wish they could add 3 zeroes to Geoff's winnings. He deserves a million dollars just as much as Isaac.

Great stuff! I'm loving all of the updates too Arsenette and William, and can't wait to see what else you've got.
I'm kicking myself for not going now. It's only 14 hours away, lol. Actually seems like it would have been worth it. :-)

To be fair you got pulled left and right all weekend AND were competing at all times. Great stuff! I'm loving all of the updates too Arsenette and William, and can't wait to see what else you've got. I'm kicking myself for not going now. It's only 14 hours away, lol. Actually seems like it would have been worth it. :-) Totally understand though! I know I asked if you were coming but from Canada is a haul! I'd strongly suggest if you want to see the craziness book a flight or drive down for the Philadelphia ANW Tryouts because man that region is STACKED!

Best weekend ever. Chris asked me last week if I could help test the course. Obviously I said yes. The course was no joke. On Friday I went to open gym for 2 hours then immediately after that had to help test for 4 hours. I beat every obstacle in the first stage. It was extremely exhausting, especially without any food or water. I decided to do a course run after 5 hours of training. I made it past everything, then after I beat the Domino Hill I legitimately was about to pass out, so I decided not to do anymore. The next day I had to do Stage 1 demonstrations for the waves of competitors, which took even more out of me since I had to do it on and off for the whole damn day, and on top of that had to help with camera/commentary. I didn't screw up once despite being extremely sore (and with pretty much everyone watching me). I woke up Sunday pretty much paralyzed from soreness. I could do about half of the second stage, but I was so sore from the past two days that I couldn't do things like the Salmon Ladder. At first I thought it was issues committing, but my shoulders were so sore and weak that I had zero power getting up the rungs. Thankfully the only obstacle I had to demonstrate that day was the Pipe Slider. The list of people I want to thank is too damn long to list right now but huge thanks to Chris and Brian for an unforgettable experience, and to James and Strat for helping with commentary. James crashed the commentary booth at the best possible time. Both me and Alex were pretty damn tired near the end of Saturday, and James came up and just started helping with the camera and did most of the commentary for the rest of the day. I don't want to give anything away but you may not have seen the last of me, Alex, and James doing commentary together

I know I asked if you were coming but from Canada is a haul! I'd strongly suggest if you want to see the craziness book a flight or drive down for the Philadelphia ANW Tryouts because man that region is STACKED! I know how you feel about ANW but does this mean you might actually come on over to the Philly region to watch all these competitors that you've followed for years or met this weekend and come out to spectate? To be honest probably not for several different reasons. Number 1 reason is that this is ANW country and an NBC set. I won't have the freedom to do what I did in Hainsport in Philadelphia. Also the overwhelming rage of seeing NBC execs prancing around in their element will be too much for me to enjoy the moment. The environment this weekend was completely neutral and there were people there who genuinely love competing and embrace the Sasuke spirit. It wasn't about money or fame, they genuinely loved Ninja Warrior, the obstacles, it's people. ANW is a totally different atmosphere with a different demographic. I honestly doubt I will enjoy myself. The other reason is that I don't know what I'll be doing at the time. That weekend is my wedding anniversary weekend and also I am hoping that this year I'll return to Japan. Until I know dates of when (and if) I'm going, I won't know if I'll even be in the country! We'll see on that front what is going to happen but already from the onset, I don't think I want to go. I'd rather go to events like this where I would feel more welcome and less stressed instead of fighting the urge to drop kick every exec that took my Sasuke off US television. I'm saving the planet ya'll! I'm doing a good deed! LOL Rich from Armchair Ninja Podcast would really really enjoy going to Philadelphia. Their podcast is ANW centric. This is more up their alley and given they've never been to one of those I think they would benefit more than I would in that situation. The only other thing I would probably consider is if there is a meet up away from the course. Something like people going up to a gym or even hanging out at a restaurant (and of course invited to.. because I don't show up to a place uninvited.. that's rude). I think that would be more my style so I can meet everyone in a neutral setting.

It's funny to me you say it's completely different, because ANW feels exactly the same as this weekends event. The TV show might be different but the events have the same vibe!

If I had to choose between competing in the NNL or competing on ANW... I'd 1000x choose the NNL.

I mean the NBC staff around there is more companies hired by NBC, A Deign & Co and ATS don't have control over that either (and some of them aren't completely happy with the lack of Sasuke over here), despite all the corporate BS with Sasuke the field crews love the sport. But completely understand where you're coming from and am not going to try to change your mind over it, just wanted to give food for thought

I don't care.. I don't want to go to the funeral. I'm depressed as it is.

I just posted two of the interviews I did this weekend! The first one is with Chris Wilczewski and the second one is with Michelle Warnky. I'm sorry I never got to do an interview with you, if you still want to sometime let me know when you have time and we can do one! I'll have to take you up on that. We'll see what time we can arrange.

I wasn't trying to change your mind or beg you to go, I just wanted everyone to know the situation, if someone still doesn't want to go that's fine, not trying to change your mind.
