We had a great time, and got along really well with everyone there. Most of the "problems" arose from communications difficulties, I'm sure. It was a tall order for the vietnam crew to communicate everything to all of us, all the time (through multiple translators in English, Japanese, and Chinese.) A lot of info often slipped through the cracks, and we just ended up having to wing it. It was an interesting challenge, but a satisfying one, nonetheless. One of the english translators was notably horrible (but humorously so), and the other was pretty ok, but often too quiet for everyone to hear, so a lot of things got passed on by telephone word-of-mouth. Until all of us non-vietnamese speakers become fluent in the home-field tongue, we can't reeeeally complain, though. And like the other guy said, we got nothing but good vibes from the vietnamese competitors and production crew. The only noticeable dark patch was actually brought on by the one American camera guy (from the documentary fan film duo?), who wasn't even IN the competition, who took it upon himself to start cussing out the ENTIRE international crew when we were milling about the first night when we thought everything was over. I don't think any of us even knew that they still had to shoot more of the Vietnamese competitors, or of course we would have cleared out. It was super un-classy and seemed like the type of pushy, entitled, overbearing American behavior that we all try to avoid when competing as guests in other countries. It took a lot of restraint to not choke his a** out on the spot. I don't know his name, or what kinda trip he was on, but f*** that guy.

Also, a lot of us got sick, multiple times, and in multiple different ways! I know several of the "where is So-And So?" moments came from so-and so having to rush to the nearest bathroom to avoid a poop or vomit incident. The first nearest bathroom was a pair of outdoor squat toilets that were unlit inside, and more often than not, already in use. Very frequently, the best option was to either run for the not-so-nearby Hikari food court, or across the street to the Becamex Hotel lobby.

I'll stand up for the documentary crew since I heard all about it and understood what the problem was. I heard it from various perspectives and various countries involved both from a competitor point of view and a production point of view. These first few days were the ones that really really bothered the powers that be. Sure there was communication issue but the other was the over-reliance and my own word "babysitting" aspect of this whole thing.. Most of the problems arose from the fact that everyone was relying on others for communication when the schedule was posted online for everyone to read and digest. I even know wtf was going on and I was still on this side of the hemisphere. I felt bad for the rest of the Vietnamese competitors that literally had to work around the small international contingent in the first few days. It was incredibly disheartening and given what ended up happening, I'd much prefer that Perry didn't bother doing all that hard work in getting everyone in one day. Everyone honestly should have just fended for themselves. It was a horrible situation that could have been avoided if more people did their research before they left. Period.

It really wasn't that horrible. Your boy was just way out of his lane. Exclamation point. And honestly, it was such a small part of the overall positive event as to almost not even be worth mentioning. Everybody ran. Nobody died. We all made new friends and had great new experiences. Check your sources. Period.

It sounds like things would've been incredibly messy and disorganized had Perry not brought everyone together, even if everyone wasn't on the same page this time around.
It also sounds like the big thing for next year is to at least know the schedule before coming over and to confirm any details as soon as you're there or before if possible.

Perry was/is/always will be awesome. We were a mess of jet lag, sleep deprivation, heat fatigue, respiratory and GI illnesses, and culture adjustment the first couple days, and he definitely kept the different groups (Taiwan, Japan, USA, China, Singapore, Malaysia, UK) in the internationals on the same page and on the right track until we got our bearings! WE LOVE YOU DOUBLE O-STERLAAAY!

Agreed to both! I'll be talking to FallRisk911 sometime this week so we don't have to drag drama into the thread anymore. It was my mistake to do so in the first place so I'll do what I can to clear the air privately. Thanks Mike to reaching out and I'll we'll leave that particular part of the thread alone and deal with it privately soon. For next year, yeah. It was heavily disorganized and extremely ambitious with a couple thousand running the course over 2 weeks in addition to massive language barriers and enough politics to cause problems. I doubt any of that will be on the broadcast we can focus on that when it starts to air on YouTube.

That's what they were telling us, we'll see if it really happens when it happens.

The list makes it look close. {Spoiler}17 competitors under 50 seconds, and only 1 of them under 40s seems pretty close.

I also noticed (in that list) some competitors are from other countries, including several from the USA. Were those from the all-stars versus competition for this 2nd season?

There were 28 international competitors, the best ones based off Stage 1 got to be part of the Vietnamese vs International vs Japanese teams, but the three highlighted times for Japan weren't the fastest, so I can't figure that out, and I don't know what the highlighted Vietnamese names mean based on their times. Something we'll find out once it airs.

For those who are interested, I've been seeing a lot of promo material in the past few days that lists 5/19 as the premiere date.

Every video on the YouTube channel has gone private. I think we might be seeing it soon, since it just began airing last Thursday.

Luckily only a few videos created by 3rd-party users made it to YouTube. I wouldn't post one here unless the official channel uploads the full episodes, if they do it just like last season.
