I would've posted this in the original thread, but it is now "super dead", so I went ahead and made a new one. Besides, the old one was mostly for news/initial reactions anyway, whilst this will be for speculations. Honestly, even though it is still way off, I'm surprised there isn't more hype for the World Cup. For me, I'm more excited for it than for Sasuke 32.
So i'm gonna start off this thread with some speculations of my own. This is all just a stab in the dark, as currently all we know is that it has been in the works for a while, and will be held at Midoriyama Studios. Correct me if that is wrong. So here goes...
1) Results will be based on points calculated PER RUN. There will be 1 point for a stage 1 clear, 3 for a stage 2 clear, 6 for a stage 3 clear and 10 for a final stage clear. There will be no "match ups" like in ANW. All members of a country run, and the overall score is calculated based on how well they do alone.
2) In terms of scale, the event will be HUGE, bigger than any individual Sasuke tournament. The stages will be more visually "done up" and the budget will be igher.
It seems to me like TBS wants to completely outdo NBC in terms of sheer scale and making the event a "big deal". To me, this events represents the fightback against NBC's bullcrap. After multiple contract violations, USA VS The World and them shunning Sasuke, TBS finally wants to get their own back.
3) Every "Ninja Warrior" tournament EVER (aside from really obscure ones like Bahrain) will get a team. Teams will have 7 members, with two in reserve in case of injuries. There will be: Team Japan, Team China, Team America, Team UK, Team Sweden, Team Turkey, Team Malaysia, Team Singapore, Team Vietnam and Team Denmark. If Germany/Indonesia/Europe get their tournaments before this event TAPES, they will also get teams. There will around 100 competitors (including injury reserves) so the event can run on the same schedule as a regular Sasuke tourney. To qualify for a team, you must be a member of the NATIONALITY of the country that hosts the ninja event.
4) For fairness and for it to be a more general event in terms of the skill present, all obstacles would be either current or past SASUKE obstacles. There will be no new obstacles, and a good mix of current and past obstacles. Stages will also be quite long (8-9) obstacles each, to fit in with the "big" theme. I also predict that for an event of this scale, H&S will be slightly more lax.
5) Also to be fair, all members of a team will run simultaneously, and the order in which countries will run would be picked randomly.
6) Every member of a team will run every stage, regardless of abilities/expectations. The prize will be a large trophy, and lifelong invitations to SASUKE for all the members of said team. For all the other teams, the member that earns the most points for their team will get invitations to the next SASUKE tournament.
7) Team Japan will consist of: Morimoto (captain), Yuuji (vice captain), Ryo Matatchi, Hitoshi Kannno, Kazuma Asa, Shingo Yamamoto, Kenji Takahashii. Backups: Nagano OR Takeda & Hioki Masashi.
8) To further the variety, in addition to the teams, there will special "guest runs" of notable competitors worldwide. People like different American competitors, Omori etc... There will also be many other people invited, such as the other All-Stars and notable Japanese who missed out on the team, invited to watch and support.

It was announced, and when it was, it was confirmed that it had been in the works for a while. Based on the summary of the recent nico nico on Youtube, we got a few more small snippets, so it is clearly moving along. It was announced by the TBS President originally, so I'd say there is a very high chance it would come to fruition

You know my thoughts for Yamamoto-san! <3 Yup. I honestly think he would be the best for team Japan, seeing his "team mentality" in USA VS The World. I hope every All-Star (even Yamada) is present at the event though, even if they are just cheering.

Please never do multi-colored text posts again. I say thatoneuser should be Bernie's running mate. Other than that, yes... No more colours.

Replies (also obviously based on my opinion): 1) Maybe? It's hard to say how they'd do it, but I've got to say the scoring you have seems way too strict. Clearing all stages yields you 20 but only clearing 1 gets you 1? Too harsh imo. 1-2-3-4 still seems better. 2) This really depends, but it could be bigger if they did it such that the episode would be produced in each language of the official TBS sponsored shows. Eg. ANW could cover it in English, etc. Will this happen? No, probably not. But I dream. The budget being higher really depends on the involvement of the Sasuke spin-offs, as I don't know if TBS would be willing to dish out the money to fly teams in. 3) That's just unfair to Bahrain. The island may not be that big, but they are #7th in the world for population density, given the size of land. If they managed to snag a show, it means they aren't that obscure. I presume that TBS will contact the Sasuke Spin-offs and request a team if the Country desires, as well as putting up applications for other foreigns teams where they would select a few. I also don't know how the politics behind X Warrior will affect a Team China. 4) Old obstacles show training and planning. New obstacles are a good test of all-round skill and adaptation, so I think they would be more desirable actually. 5) That actually isn't more fair. If gives entire teams an advantage watching others run, especially if there are new obstacles. Shuffling all members regardless of team is significantly more fair based on statistics. 6) That is actually relatively plausible, as TBS likes having one rep per spinoff. 7) I love Shingo, but he's likely past his prime to compete if this were a serious competition to boast their skill. He could do well, but the odds have been against him the alst few years.

So far everything is in the air. What was originally planned was awesome and what it's turning out to be (if TBS gets their way) is meh. Nothing is in stone right now. So far, it's not the same format as what we've seen so far. That could change. We'd have to wait and see if they announce anything next year.

dont know if anybody already knows this but following a reliable source I came across today, Sasuke World Cup will be organized no sooner than 2020. The reason being is that it takes time for countries other than America and Japan to catch up with those two since most spin-off versions of Sasuke have just started not long ago. Another reason is that Japan will host Olympic Games 2020 so it would be an appropriate time to start a tournament like Sasuke World Cup. So I guess we dont need to get excited too soon.

well I live in VN and I watched an interview with the director of Sasuke Vietnam - he is a very influential person in the television industry in VN and may be the person who brought Sasuke to VN - as to promote for Sasuke Vietnam Season 2 which aired May 19. He did not exactly state that the first Sasuke World Cup will be in 2020, but according to him: "There will soon be a Sasuke tournament which gathers athletes all over the world and right now, TSB is looking to popularize Sasuke to as many contries as possible." The rest went as my previous post.

Yep that has been the case all along. In order for the World cup to work they need more of the countries invited to have their own versions.

In this article on the VTV network site, the guy mentions the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, and if there's an international competition around that time, then Vietnam will be ready.

Inui mentioned the World Cup. He said that he met with ANW designers and that Sasuke 32 will be the first step towards this.
He followed with a 2nd tweet which I believe (correct me if I am wrong) says the first World Competition will be primarily composed of Sasuke & ANW competitors, and the 2nd will be branched out on a much larger scale.
My translation is rough, but regardless this does seem to indicate progress
