Most Shocking was Davids to me =( BUT IDC!!! DAVID U DID THE BEST OUTTA THE AMERICANS JUST TOOK SO MANY BREATHS INBETWEEN THE OBSTACLES YOULL GET IT SASUKE 23 CAUSE UR PROBUBLY GOIN BACK! Thanks man! Yeah I'm not used to the air over there, it's really crappy. Lots of pollution and also they were having dust storms. Tons of people walking around with hospital style face masks on. I could actually taste dirt in my mouth half the time I was in Tokyo. I was having trouble breathing through most of my run, it sucked. I'm used to clean California forest air man! But I'm training my cardio aerobic stamina like mad in hopes that they send me back, so that if the air is still bad it won't get to me as much. And also I plan on bringing an over the counter primatine inhaler to help counter the smog next time! Also I'm building a scaled down version of the Slider Jump!

David was simply not ready. You could read it all over his face: "Wait, wait, wait, wait, don't start yet, aaargh". He was also not fully warmed up before starting, and he was uncomfortable with the tramponline. That's three things that each individually cost him enough time to make Stage 2, and all three of them are things he can fix should he get to participate in Sasuke 23. Either way, his Slider Jump was the Most Shocking Non-Failure... EVER. Well, I heard the starting chime and stuff, they started it a little before I expected them to, but I don't think that really affected my run. It's funny you mention the warm up though! I totally forgot in all the excitement to do any kind of warm up jog to get my blood flowing or any stretches! Yes the biggest factor was that I really just didn't know what to expect from that trampoline. There was a tramole setup in the parking lot for people to practice on I found out later, but nobody told me about it! And yes you're right, all of this can be fixed if I get another shot in 23! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks!

You really only have time to rest on one or two obstacles, but not rest, concentrate, AND breathe on several of them, like David. It kind of informed me that he was a slow guy to begin with, considering his behavior in his ANC 4 entry video. Yes, I won't argue with that. Though I'd say I was more over-cautious than slow. I'm working on it though. I set out an obstacle course route at the local park here, it involves some running, kongs over tables, balancing on things, climbing up stuff etc. The first time I ran it, I had a time of 3:10 and I was quite winded. I'm down to about 2:30 now with much less exhaustion in only a couple weeks! I'm also just getting used to just moving a little faster. Recently in Santa Monica for the Ninja Killer Thing I started out the day with a demo run and just jogged the course all easy doing each obstacle perfectly and had a time of 35 seconds. Later they announced me and had me do my official run. Nobody had come close to my time and I wasn't really thinking about time so I just did another easy pretty run and had a time of 36sec. After that a couple people beat my time, and I wasn't bothered by it really, but I was thinking to myself "If I was going for speed I could tear a** through this course". So a while later they asked me to do one last run while wearing the helmet cam and I decided to step on the gas and do a speed run (while still completing everything perfectly). So I just moved faster, hesitated less, and got a time of 24seconds. I'm just used to rock climbing where it's all about calculated deliberate movements with no time limit other than how long you can hang on. (like stage3!) But yes the speed problem has been identified and is being fixed!

It'll be a crime if you're not sent back, but hey, even if you have to apply again, I'm sure you'll have loads of support like Brian did after Sasuke 20.
Have you altered your Cliff Hanger? It seemed like this time the people who failed it did so because of technique rather than strength.

Note to David: If you make it back to Sasuke 23 (crossing fingers for you), and you practice the trampoline in the parking lot....do NOT let Shinji Kobayashi practice with you:) By the way, was our favorite garbageman there?

Isn't it interesting, we seem to be talking the most about the only person that was at 22 who can read this.

Yes. I actually built an entirely new cliffhanger in my back yard! the rails are pretty much exactly to spec of the real thing(with a very slight err on the side of extra difficulty). The first board is shorter (just because I couldn't fit it in my backyard with that long a** 1st rail). The second board is the same length but inclined a couple degrees steeper for added difficulty. The gap is a few inches longer both vertically and horizontally. And the landing platform is basically to spec of the real thing, only 1/16" narrower. Factor in that it's a little wobbley when you're actually on it and it should be significantly harder than the real thing. I'm not saying I don't have room for improvement with my technique, but I successfully completed it on my first test run!

I really wanna see you make it back to 23, it's clear to me that it seems you may have more experience than Levi(however i can't really judge that b/c i dont how Levi trains aside from free-running) you train a lot for this course, i believe you'll be going back, they had you run at Ninjafest course so i believe you'll be clear. Can i here kanzenseiha for David Campbell if he goes back!? It seems unless you make a bone head Shingo mistake 1st Stage is clear, 2nd Stage should go smoothly unless they drastically cut the time and modify Salmon Ladder again/put in new obstacles. You've done some really good training for stage 3, obviously your have few problems with the cliff hanger, devil steps are no problem and Arm Rings and D. Lamp Grasper shouldn't be to difficult. Rock Climbing really does help with grip strengh for stage 3 though, i went rock climbing a few days ago, and it gave me good practice with "grip strength" as well as for Hang Climbing(they had a 25 foot rock wall at the same angle as the Hang Climbing obstacle) Aside from all of that i believe we could see you in the final stage based on your potential and everything. Levi and Luci(Hope they both get sent back) have good potential(Luci for stage 1 and Levi for stage 3) but i'm not sure of there potential right now based on their failures last tournament...

I hope you come back to Sasuke next time too, David. I felt bad after seeing you run out of time, because I think you could've handled the later stages. Good effort nonetheless.

Haha! +1 Hey David, just out of curiosity, when you mentioned kongs, I'm guessing you do parkour/freerunning? If that's true, are you going to attend the next COPK? If you are, you should come by and try out the Salmon Ladder.

COPK's a little far for me. I haven't been doing parkour that long really, though a lot of things I have been doing for some time could be considered parkour, you know?
I'm sorry I don't remember who Shinji is and nothing came up in a google search. If you show me a pic I could tell you if I saw him there.
Just curious by the way. Lfrt: What makes you say I would have problems with the Cliffhanger? Do you just mean anyone would, or is it something you've noticed about me specifically?
And Venus Head Trap: You mention my behavior in my ANC video relating to speed, I'm not sure I understand what you're referring to.
Thanks again to you all for your kind words and support!

That was a typo, i meant to say that you would have few problems if any at all with the cliff hanger, if you have one in your back yard that is slightly harder than than the real thing, i say that you could pwn the thing. Anyone can have trouble with the cliff hanger if the wrong technique is used. I believe you could do well on the cliff hanger, better than levi in 20 for sure.

Kobayashi Shinji. The garbage man from earlier sasuke, the first guy to beat the Jumping Bars. Or do you still need a pic?

Yeah I'd need a recent photo if you can give me a link...all I could find was the footage of his crotch going into Nagano's face from one of my ANC VHS's!

Because of how he's been getting skipped, most recent pic I can get is from Sasuke 20 In 19 he was skipped but you can see him standing behind Nagano before Yamada Koji's run

Also David, do you know where Kenji Takahashi failed? He went right before Yamada (#80) and he usually wears this uniform (this is from 21 btw): Actually, do you know where anyone else failed whose run wasn't shown in the TBS broadcast? I know Olivia failed the Circle Hammer based on the intro, but is there anyone else?

I don't remember seeing Kobayashi there and I'm thinking that Takahashi failed the Jumping Spider, but my memory is hazy there. I think I was being interviewed or something during his run maybe?
