So this is something that has happened to me quite a bit in the last year. I have minor injuries that will pretty much keep me from training all together for example a minor pec tear or a forearm strain. I always seem to be impatient and just re injure that same injury and then I just cycle through being injured all the time. I just want to know if you guys do anything specifically to cope with being injured?

I focus on different body parts if i can. I separated my shoulder this spring so I focused on legs and abs till I was healed.

it really depends on the injury and the pain you experience. I work with patients as a PT and I advice them not to push to much through pain. Do more light resistance and many reps for rehab consistently and also develop a plan for progressively increasing resistance/loading through the injured body part. To be honest the athlete part of me is also not very patient and I usually push through pain early on. I've been lucky so far I recovered well from relatively minor strains/injuries.

Thanks for the input but I have a question about this. When do you think is a good time to start doing these light rehab exercises? For example should I wait until there is no pain in the injured area to start doing this or should I start really light and easy even though I still have pain in that said area?

good question, for most muskuloskeletal problems you can start light rehab right away. The idea is to maintain good mobility in the injured body part, doing many reps in different ranges of motion. Going towards the pain a bit is usually OK but how much it depends on your problem. If you are not sure you might wanna have somebody check it out but keep in mind rehab often requires trial and error. Some exercises might make you feel worse temporarily but help you in the long run. Sometimes it's just time and nothing else that helps speed up recovery but I personally don't let my body get weak if I can work around the pain. Also as Evan mentioned is good to work on other bodyparts to keep your whole body strong.
