Okay, time for my tinfoil hat again, but just yesterday I was watching Sasuke 1 for the first time. I couldn't help but notice that the gap between the landing platform and rapid descent was much smaller back then, and that Shingo managed to just jump from the top of the hill. I think Shingo failed not because of a lack of technique on the jump, but because they deliberately made the gap longer to try and trick the real veterans into making a jump that it is extremely difficult to make now, but could be made easily back then.... That still doesn't explain Takeda though ?

I suggest you also check out Sasuke 4, the last appearance of the Maruta Kudari, The gap was pretty equal in size to 31, You also have to factor in that 1: Shingo hasn't done that obstacle in 16 years 2: You weren't allowed to jump from the top without using the barrels on the Rolling Hill, most people cleared the Maruta Kudari by using the runup and just jumping over the barrels 3: Because of that no jumping from the top rule people were thrown off by their step dropping (much like Drew was later on) and some people tried to minimize it, you'll notice Takeda in particular tried to push back on his jump which ended up killing his distance

Shingo didn't jump from the top in Sasuke 1 though. If he used the same technique in 31 as he did in 1, maybe he would have passed it.

1: Shingo and Takeda hadn't done that obstacle in 16 years Takeda never attempted the original Maruta Kudari.

Last time Shingo did this obstacle it was easier to jump the gap, in S 31 there was like only one person to make it with single jump from the top.

That was also illegal this tournament, Ragivaru is lucky they didn't have any french speakers to help them on stage 1 sasukemaniac.proboards.com/post/135085/thread

I think Cocky Takeda™ showed up and thought "listen scrub.. move over and lemme tell you how you jump from this thing" and realized he's now 40 years old and failed as well.

XD Not to mention Shingo beat Takeda the last 4 times the competed together (25, 28 - 30). So we've got "Cocky Takeda" and "Shingo Derp" and we HAD "Bastard Yamada". These trademarks amuse me.

Apparently the attempt to drown Yuuji in 2nd stage was not enough
