You'll be happy to know that Yuuji has gotten the message and is taking this next year to completely change his training regimen. He's radically transformed and is a lot more open and approachable. He also realizes the wall he hit (in training) and is humble enough to realize he needed to change everything. Now that we know there is a 32 he can train in earnest to come back stronger next year. I hope Ryo gets the hint. Given the reaction in Nico last night.. he's not there yet. What was ryos reaction last night in nico? Thought Ryo was really gonna be the one to win this time.. The best explanation someone gave me as a visual "Academy Award.. runner up smile + golf clap". Towards the end of the night.. not only did he not smile.. he was the only one with his arms crossed in anger.

Ryo really needs to bulk up just a bit. he's a Stage 3 machine as we all know, but he should have realized from Stage 4 in 30 that he won't be able to win it all as he currently stands.
and good news on Yuuji, I'd really like to see him come back strong next time. he's not getting any younger, he may only have a few more competitions in his prime.

I'm glad Yuuji is back to being the humble shoe salesman we've come to appreciate. I just hope the all stars, even though they're falling apart albeit slowly, follow in their footsteps and train even more diligently. Since we have a new champion, there's going to be yet ANOTHER massive change for the course. It won't be easy

So did anyone else notice Naoki Iketani during Stage 2?

He was there to support one of the Samurai Rock Orchestra members, Masamitsu Kikuchi, who made the 2nd Stage. There were a group of SRO people, led by Iketani.

Btw for those who were trying to figure out what happened to Shinya, he was warming up and apparently hurt himself when he did it. It was really emotional as when he was called.. he got on the startline, got on a mic (crying btw) and profusely apologized for not being able to compete. He REALLY wanted to compete but was hurting too much. He left shortly after that and wasn't there for the 2nd day. He's doing better now and hoped to come back for 32 better than ever.

So he hurt himself warming up? I thought he had the injury before he even applied (I forget who, but someone said that was the case). Makes a lot more sense though. Either way, still upsetting for that to happen to him.

He has neck compression issues which he may or may not have surgery on but that wasn't it. He hurt himself warming up which is why he was so upset because it was a mistake/unintended self-inflicted injury. He was so embarrassed it was painful to watch him cry at the start line.

Poor Shinya... I apologized to him on facebook that this came up and he said he'll be back. I'm very grateful.

I thought it was weird that Ryo was there on Day 2, but was virtually unseen until that brief moment during the reaction to Yusuke's win that the camera caught him taking his time to stand up like the others. He's 26, a grown man, seemingly salty like a 12 year old because a 23 year old beat him to the punch. i.imgur.com/sDxzWoT.png

Would have been awesome to see the All-Stars stay for the final. I would have loved to have seen their reactions.
By the way, it's extremely strange to see Yuuji cheering someone ELSE winning the final. Strange but good of course.

Ryo was sulking in Day 2 ever since he arrived. Yuuji kept telling him to mingle with the crowd and just about forced him to take a pic with me. I commend Yuuji for changing his attitude. I'm hoping it rubs off on Ryo right now. Ryo I think is seeing his career as top man on campus disappear with Morimoto taking that top spot.

Well, he has a year to get over it. He had two chances at the final and missed them both. It was inevitable someone else was going to take it, especially when Hioki, Tomo, Drew, Kong, Asa, Kanno and Yusuke were the only people to get to Stage 3 more than once in the four tournaments, while Kanno and Asa never failed earlier than that.

This new Yamada like attitude he's developing isn't reflecting well on him.

Btw, for those who didn't know.. the music used during the interview at the end was from Dragon: Bruce Lee Story. One of my favorite soundtracks! I love it when the broadcast ends with music that I like. I routinely watch & listen to the end of SASUKE 27 because of the music, and I'm going to be doing the same for SASUKE 31.

Ryo does jump into the celebration huddle at the very end, although its only seen very quickly as the camera cuts off.

A bit off topic but funnily enough I had a dream a few months back where I met Yuuji and Ryo (who both spoke perfect english lol) and Yuuji was really nice and approachable but Ryo was very rude and arrogant. I dont mind Ryo but I really hope his attitude improves, the nice humble nature of the majority of the Japanese competitors is what I like the most about them.
