I probably won't get full details for a while but unlike last year, the event was legit or at least legit on the surface which is all I ever wanted. They had a clock that was visible to everyone involved. So no shenanigans this year with it.
Results wise, USA won with Europe in 2nd and Japan in 3rd again. Morimoto being the highlight again for Team Japan for those interested. USA won it in the 3rd stage not requiring the 4th.
If I find out more I'll post about it. If anyone knows and don't want post it you can send it to me and I'll post it.

NOT AGAIN! Japan just can't catch a break... 3rd time and they get slammed to the ground... Any bets on whether they had the course designed to not disadvantage the smaller Japanese competitors? I know that was a problem the last two years, with the course design making it much more difficult for smaller competitors, and NBC decided not to alter the course to allow for that.

I'm THANKFUL Shingo doesn't have to see it... he'd feel even more down than last time if he was there... So NBC why must you treat your GUESTS like that?!

ANW can't exactly change their course to suit different body styles on the fly.

{Spoiler}Couldn't it be that the USA team was just in better shape, especially right after the preparation for the finals? It's also reasonable to talk about the psychological benefit of two Americans just finishing the whole thing the day before and the fact that the event is taking place in the US, but speculations like the course was setup for taller people on purpose just for this event doesn't make sense to me. Just my opinion.

Problem is this has been an issue before, the course is built towards taller people since that's more average in america, the taller people on team japan are about 5'8 or so and while that's not a huge disadvantage, that is short on how ANW builds things, there's also the factor for Team Europe in how the European spinoffs are built by ATS, the same team behind ANW so the courses are built to the same specs as over here. Whereas Team Japan is used to the Sasuke construction with obstacles made at a notably smaller scale so they're in the mindset of being prepared for those courses and when faced with bigger versions of things they're used to that can throw you off

There was NOTHING this year that was a height check. Few things are easier, but then you have to deal with fatigue of the extra weight. I am way more impressed with the bigger competitors.
I'm 6'2, 200, can bench over 300 and rep 405 dead lifting... No way in he'll I get through stage 3 or climb the rope fast enough. I've done most of the obstacles, but only a few at a time before I'm done.
So anyone making this dumb argument as an excuse for Japan sorry, they have advantage this year being smaller.

Maybe if you are like 4 foot. But seriously huge advantage overall to be lighter. Stage 2 has ropes, salmon ladder, the rope climb after the butterfly that are advantageous to lighter competitors.

the 3rd stage is where the Japanese truly shine but sadly the Americans know how to cover the shine up... one way or another...

Did the foreign competitors get test runs? If not then that's an advantage for the US.

If you mean in general for these competitions Morimoto did last year

It did in practice against Japan again but they were kinda expecting it as they were disrespected last year by certain higher ups. It didn't change this year sad to say. Europe had full runs with no issues though. Can't say Japan was as lucky. That said they knew they were going to struggle early on. Also half the team was new to the course and their first times outside of their country. I'll talk to them later but I'm sure nerves played a huge role. All in all I'm not complaining this year because when it counted the most (competition) they weren't blatantly cheated. In fact a nice thing happened at the end of the competition after the ceremony. After USA got the trophy and hoopla they asked if Japan wanted to do a ceremonial climbing of the 4th stage (since they were ripped off last year but I'm digressing) and because no one qualified for it during the team event since USA sealed their victory at the 3rd stage. Morimoto went up against Ian Dory? (Sorry if I'm butchering his name ) Morimoto edged out Ian in the Final. Oh what a dingbat. Forgot to say that Morimoto was the only one from Team Japan clearing the 3rd stage. Sean McColl also cleared and went faster. Then Isaac went and beat his time clearing. Each of them faster than the other I think? I don't have a full report. I honestly only asked if it was legit and I was assured no monkey business happened which of course made me happy. Teams are going to lose, I just want a clean friendly competition. This apparently was.

I'm glad it was fair so maybe Japan will return after all! Last year was the worst but this year it went quite well! I hope for success from fabled Team Japan. ^_^
