I KNEW that Salmon Ladder wasn't how people thought it would be. Also, the shots of it on the course are awesome

Not going to lie I love the new salmon ladder idea.

I'm actually glad it's not the Salmon Tilt, I considered that one of my bad ideas TBH

I think the idea is kinda dumb. What's stopping competitors from jumping to the mat when they're not at the bottom wrong? An invisible wall? Rules like this just show me how uncreative TBS is compared to M9.

I'll take this over the broken Swap any day of the week. The obstacle also was not completely shown so you may want to hold off full criticism until you see the thing in action. You may come to the same conclusion, however it's not completely shown.

Rules like this just show me how uncreative TBS is compared to M9. Maybe they'll move the mat into position when they reach the bottom. Like when they take it away when you start the Salmon Ladder except the mat's coming to the obstacle.

That salmon ladder looks pretty dope. Doesn't look as bland looking.

Being DQ'd for defeating how the obstacle is supposed to be attempted? Obviously. A rule rather than the actual obstacle itself. I'm saying it could have been designed better. How is that any different from any other obstacle though? What's to stop someone from running along the edge of the Backstream pit and staying completely dry? What's to stop someone to just hold onto the pipe slider track instead of the pipe to swing to the platform? What's to stop someone from just doing this, that logic can be applied to literally any obstacle on the course, it's stupid for someone to complain about that aspect of an obstacle... Honestly I'll take this over the Swap Salmon Ladder any day, not as slow and boring and where someone can fail because the producers f***ed up...

There's a difference between going off course (Every example you gave) and staying inbounds but clearing an obstacle in a more efficient way. An example of this is Roller Hill. Are you required to go down and touch every roller before you jump to the end? No. It should be the same for the this version of the Salmon Ladder, unless PHYSICALLY prohibited from doing so. Stop arguing for the sake of arguing, especially when your argument is absolutely dumb.

It's the way the obstacle must be done. If you jump to the platform instead of going down its a course out. We've had situations like this for years. I don't know what your problem is with this. It's a fresh, new spin on the SL.

Hell the original Salmon Ladder and the Double Salmon Ladder had the same exact rule ever since they replaced the Stick Slider with the Unstable Bridge in 24, even if you got half way you still weren't allowed to, I don't think people realize ANW changed the rule on that so only getting up one side counted as completed...

Actually I agree with MattyRox here. I think what he's saying is if you can jump from the top rung to the next platform then why can't you do that? I agree. If it's possible to do that then the obstacle has an error in design. IMO to prevent this it should end similarly to how the Spider Walk from 7-17, where you grabbed a lower bar and ducked underneath. This would make it necessary to descend all the rungs.

Why can't you jump the gap of the Rolling Log if you have the physical capacity to do so in ANW? Because the explicit rule states you have to use the log to complete the obstacle. Like Rider stated, you had to get the bar fully on the last rung possible to be considered finished to move on in the versions before the SSL. Just like you had to take your gloves off from the Chain Reaction before the Spider Walk, despite the advantage gained in doing so considering you were given the gloves in the first place and the time wasted to get the gloves off if you couldn't shake them off hockey style. Nagano wasn't told he couldn't rest using the board scaffolding on the Spider Flip, so he did. If he were told and did so, he'd be rightfully DQ'd.

I'd also consider this going off course, however I can see it being viewed differently. More of a case of skipping obstacles if anything, so not a good comparison to this. Besides, using ANW as an example here is silly, especially considering when they disregarded that exact rule when the guy was shown on TV and was marked as failing the following obstacle. But what do you expect from invisible rules? Unless common sense like taking your gloves off before the Spider Walk... come on. My original point was design to these obstacles should be key here.

Should we DQ a competitor for bringing a ladder to use on the warped wall??

I don't understand how these types of rules weren't ok on the old salmon ladder but in other cases were. But they scrapped the SSL for a reason, design flaw that could have been avoided. Which is what I'm advocating here. Only wrestlingfan was able to understand that. Yes, this is less of a big deal than the SSL, but why not strive for perfection?

But what do you expect from invisible rules? Unless common sense like taking your gloves off before the Spider Walk... come on. My original point was design to these obstacles should be key here. And yet, we had a DQ because someone merely forgot to take them off. Selective logic. Just because there looks to be a way to beat an obstacle in an easier way doesn't mean it wasn't considered in its design. Jumping to the end from the first rung is skipping the obstacle if there is a rule in place stating you need to fully complete it before moving on. If that is the case, it's just like the rule for the original Salmon Ladder and the DSL that before moving on, the bar needed to be fully on the last rung. And if that mat during the test is just like the mat in competition, you're better going down to lower your risk of gravity doing something you didn't want it to. There is more room to swing which means better control. You're griping about something very, very minor.
