Who's your favorite foreign competitor on SASUKE? (Please choose another person than any from America. =) I can add that to next month's podcast if you want. The new one was already taped and should be out later this week on Friday. Edit: Clarification on question. You mean any non-G4/ANW guys? Or all Americans period over time? thinkin he means non-Americans

just a quick clarification for Will ... Danica Patrick raced Indycar thru 2011, but since then has only driven Nascar. Her boyfriend is a Nascar driver (ricky stenhouse), not an indycar driver. NBC/NBCSN airs both series' races, so obviously wanted to promo both as much as they could

Btw for those who missed the "sharks" that I referenced in the podcast.
This is the ESPN2 opening for Viking.

Thanks for the info. It was also 12:30 am when we finished recording. I had work the next day!

I realize it's after your recording for this month and you might have hit on it, but what are your feelings about ANW's Wall Flip and it's viability to be a wall lift replacement in Sasuke? In terms of being a good replacement skill-wise and 'cheat proof' I really like it. the only problem i could see is the extra size footprint it takes. It's funny that we do actually talk about that obstacle. LOL We do a brief (for us LOL) overview of ANW8 since William saw every episode. Interesting take on it. I thought about it and I wondered if perhaps because it was Drew D just going through them with a bit of ease at a 'casual' pace (and to a lesser extent Daniel G), we got a skewed perception to the difficulty and effectiveness of the obstacle. Watching his Sasuke 31 & 32 runs and him hercules-ing the final wall each time, he definitely seems to make that look the easiest. I guess when i was thinking about the efficacy of the wall flip vs lift, I was also envisioning other ways smaller athletes might need to attack them - including the ol 'stick the knee under and shift hand position' move, getting a shoulder under the heaviest wall, using more back and legs to heft it past 90 degrees, etc, . Drew just made it look too much like child's play thanks for the podcast as always gavv

Because the fulcrum is at the bottom, it actually feels like you're lifting a load that's less than the weight of the wall. If you want that design to be effective, you would need the walls to be really tall so that as you approach the 90 degree mark, the weight works against you. A good example of this is the Fingal's Fingers event from the World Strongest Man Competition, as seen in this video.

Exactly why when I was thinking of Wall Flip alternatives, I chose those, being just large enough to cross gaps over with the poles themselves.

Oooh, I like the idea the idea of them doubling as bridges. It removes the "Why couldn't you just run over the walls?" problem.

Now we're really going Viking; why not combine this with my idea of a Parley at the end?
