I can't wait to see this, I hope they put Jamie Rahn's team against The Lab Rats. Most people who train go to both gyms, it would be chaos!

I'm actually impressed by this. We've never seen the "side by side" dynamic done before.

KUNOICHI 2009 would like to have a word with you.(Ube's blog linked in place of a video, which would violate the forums' copyright policy, or an image, which is not a good idea to image search "kunoichi" during class.)

Never seen the dynamic before or just in "Ninja" competitions? A bunch of M9 and Banzuke shows were like this. I'm actually impressed by this. We've never seen the "side by side" dynamic done before. In my opinion, Kunoichi 2009 was a disaster. As long as the obstacles are tough, i'm sure this place will be fine.

Regardless if it was a disaster, yes, it's been done before. We didn't have to like it to answer your question. (And trust me we didn't like it.. LOL) It's been used MANY times in other M9 shows (and even Sasuke trials) so it's not unusual to us to see this dynamic and therefore not new. It may be new to you since you haven't been following the franchise that long.

(this was the best I could do of the SASUKE 21 trials, there are no videos on YouTube that I know of) And if you want to be super technical: Season 1 used SASUKE obstacles, but I could only find Season 2. By the way, any clue who that host is? Never seen him before.

Well, I've got some more information for everyone, straight from my interview with Noah Kaufman. Each show will consist of 4 teams competing in an elimination format, with 1 team advancing. In the seeding round, 2 teams will face each other, with competitors going head to head in order (one at a time) - Man, Woman, then Captain. Fastest time or furthest the fastest wins a varying amount of points. After those 2 rounds, the final 2 teams will compete in a relay format consisting of 9 obstacles. Captains can assign whoever they want to each leg. If someone falls, they get a time penalty. It seems likely that the relay is how they will finish each episode. You can hear the full interview on the Armchair Ninja Podcast of course. So incredibly excited for this. It can't get here soon enough.

Cool so they are borrowing the Viking family format splitting the obstacles according to each individual strength. Sounds interesting! ♥

I love the low-key feel of it. You still have pattern colorings and nice looking scaffolding, but a shipping yard as the backdrop is really cool to me. I like making TNW have a different visual (at least from this short clip) than ANW.

If there is one thing about ANW that seemingly indirectly will help this show its the revolving door of promotion. Casual fans will end up recognizing one (or even two) members of a single team. Longer-term fans will recognize entire teams. At least, that's my assumption. Also, holy crap, Luci's returning. OG Beast, Bull and Luci should be at worst a darkhorse team.

On my last podcast I lost my marbles for Luci. Everyone knows my soft spot for her an the shirt she wore when she cleared the jumping spider is in my closet with her signature on it. ♥ So yeah hearing she was back made me squeeeeeeeeeeeeeal with delight. For new ANW fans, they don't know who she is so that's always interesting to get perspective. Heck.. even Alison Haislip going by the production was a blast from the past. I like her a lot and am happy she took time to see the old gang. So mixed with the new ANW competitors and shifting the focus BACK onto the athlete is something I'm looking forward to.
