To be honest though, I kind of doubt there will be a submission process. It will probably just be those already established "teams" that regularly compete in ANW. Though, there are multiple of us on this forum that have competed.

I'd join Team SMF only if it was an international contest.

I just don't see this team format working. This takes away the individual sprint that the sasuke-ish show has.

I'd suck at it but I can cheer on Team SMF and Team Japan if they get involved too! Your personal cheerleader! I can promise you that there will not be a Team Japan on anything related to ANW any time soon. That said, if there's a Team SMF, I surely wouldn't make the cut but I'll be there to support. (I'll try to make the cut, though.)

I see this more as a pure ANW spin off for Esquire more than anything else.

Ugh. Another teams match. Nevertheless, I too wish the best for Team SMF.

It may as well turn into something like the BattleFrog College Championship format but without the dirt or mud or anyone under 21.

I think the issue is if it's individual head to head. I don't have issues with teams going against each other equally. That was one of my problems with the format of ANW vs. series. If it was like gymnastics where everyone competes and the best cumulative result wins I wouldn't have an issue. But between individual head to head on top of a time attack.. yeah.. not feeling it. The "relay" itself doesn't bother me if it's (as an example) 4 guys back to back to back as opposed to what happened in USA vs where 1 person just had to pass that one obstacle. Relay actually sounds exciting. That was I thought the Us vs world vs who ever should have been format wise based on everyone running the stage and a total taken. That makes it more interesting or even a relay type would be cool

Someone on another board reported that it was Team Matt vs. Team Akbar, consisting of teams of 3 with 1 male veteran/1 female/1 male rookie.
They also reported that the individual all-star thing was run "Kinniku Banzuke"-style, with a "Monster Box"-style Warped Wall contest.

I can personally confirm via an extremely reliable source that the "All-Star Competition" was not the intended Team Ninja Warrior. Team Ninja Warrior would be its own show on Esquire. Based on what I heard about the show, it seemed like it was merely a concept whose planning was in its infancy. I would suspect that we will see more concrete information for a 2016 launch, assuming it hasn't been scrapped yet. (That last sentence is mostly speculation.)

Thanks for the update. Having seen stuff like that on the Japan side I can totally understand the organization nightmare of adding one more thing to the plate. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the hoopla around it was to see what kind of reaction. What we call "feelers" so you can get a sense of how well the show will be perceived. Keep us posted if you hear anything.

During tonight's Pittsburgh Finals episode was a 15 second promo for something related to Spartan Race. It aired during the break after Geoff Britten's run, which was the first run in the second hour. It was basically slow-motion footage from Spartan Race while flashing giant text as the voice speaks. "From the producers of American Ninja Warrior comes Spartan Race - the ultimate test of will power and endurance. We're looking for passionate teams with a drive to win. Sign up at SpartanCasting.com" www.spartancasting.com/There were reports last year that NBC wanted to experiment with a short format that followed the world championship race to decide the winner but it was pulled as a separate event. I don't know what happened to it, if anything. Maybe it's become this. This sounds like it's completely separate from Team Ninja Warrior.

Esquire was interested in a second show from A. Deign & Co but they wanted to see the ratings for ANW as they were worried about over-saturation. One of the big setbacks was that the rules for Team Ninja Warrior were very poorly fleshed out and they would have been better served going into the season knowing what they were going to do and informing the competitors of such. That said, a second series will probably be coming in 2016 unless they settled for Spartan Race instead of ANW to capitalize on the OCR trend.

Team Ninja warrior is happening - and its filming in less than two weeks. Do we have an inkling of who will be in each of the teams?
