Honestly, I'll take this editing over others. Shame Kong and Shun got cut in Stage 1 (Kanno got digested for a third time, but I don't like Kanno so it doesn't bug me). I'm really glad he's giving Hioki, Asa and Morimoto the proper amount of screen time they deserve though.
As for Ryo, I think he was just envious. He was probably happy that Morimoto beat the Final, but at the same time jealous that Morimoto did it (let alone in his rookie effort) and he didn't.

I couldn't find much about Morimoto's athletic background. Does he qualify as a "regular guy," like the previous kanzenseiha, or is he a (semi-)professional, full-time, or most-of-the-time, athlete like so many ANW competitors?

Does Inui know anything specific about M9 Era Sasuke? Always wanted to ask about the G rope, metal ladder final stage, and Final Ring. i'm wondering about that myself as well. especially the final ring. (whether it was the gliding ring in the first place and they simply didn't bother to change the name of the obstacle until 21.)

He's been a fan of the show most of his life. Ryo's given the "Superfan" nickname, but Morimoto tops him in that regard. Yusuke's first appearance was when he was 15 and even beat 19's Jumping Spider. I have no problem with digesting clears, but cycle through them. You digested one person, show them if they do it again next time. Make sure the celebs and favorites are shown.

Inui wasn't around when the G-Rope etc, were created.

No cut is going to satisfy everyone. Even people who fail the first few obstacles which most people here probably wouldn't care about seeing have friends and family who would've wanted to see them on TV.
I sort of understand Inui's thinking - you can have only so many heart-stopping/heart-breaking runs at the beginning of the show without burning out your audience. However, the selective approach worked back in the old days before TBS gave us the name lists. That is a two-edged sword. Giving us the names helps promote the show. But it also raises hope about who will be shown.
Also, way more people would have been upset if Tsukada, Darvish or the other Golden Bomber guy had gotten digested than hardcore favorites.

I'm still bitter about how Inui cut clears... THERE WERE 10 LESS THAN LAST TIME! There's no excuse as to why he cut them. How hard is it to add digests jesus christ This is what I don't like about long 3-4 hour episodes. There is not enough time to show all the runs and it gets boring. If the show was split into several episodes there would be more runs shown and more people would watch it. Unfortunately, that's not the way TV works in Japan. If there were a base show like Kinniku Banzuke possibly but those shows are almost non-existent these days.

How many competitors were from the Kansai region? Heard a lot of Kansai dialect from Asa and a few others.

Yeah, just add a digest and cut some of the resting time they use up in Stage 3... seriously...

While I was overall happy with everything about this tournament (including editing), IMO if you clear Stage 1, you at least deserve to be digested doing so (along with at least a digest of your Stage 2 and 3 runs). I'm pretty sure that SASUKE 30 and 31 are the only tournaments since SASUKE 1-4 to have completely cut Stage 1 clears, which does irk me a bit as a fan. If I were on SASUKE and made it to at least Stage 2, I'd be upset if I wasn't even acknowledged for my Stage 1 performance.
On a similar (but less important note), it also bothers me how full results (including clear times) have very rarely been provided for many of the SASUKE competitions. I understand that not all 100 people can be shown during each broadcast, but it would be a nice consolation to at least have the information posted somewhere for fans to reference. Then again, based upon observations I've made regarding 15-27 in particular (i.e. when Inui was not the director at the time), I'm skeptical of how consistent the production team was in keeping track of all of this information.

On the website, They don't have Tsukada Ryoichi's (81) Picture anymore. Anyone know what happened to it? Or is it me?

Usually images of stars are loaned for a short period of time. That's my guess.

Yuusuke has almost no background in sports a fact that he mentioned before since he's always asked if he ever did sports.

Johnny's Jimusho is very controlling - none of their acts have twitter, facebook or personal blogs - way more than other agencies. I'm not surprised they took down his pictures (the player pickup photo is gone too).

Dammit.. TBS is not doing the Youtube update of the competitors of the first stage. The Sasuke team who would have been responsible for uploading it have been disbanded and reassigned to other projects within TBS (as per protocol).
