I feel the need to interject here and say that casting has always done this--popping someone into the walkon line--for what they call "discretionary callbacks" where basically they (being the ANW casting team) decide that an applicant who was rejected by the network should be running on the show for whatever reason. Since casting does not actually have the power to offer callbacks without network approval, they tell the person they're getting inserted into the walk-on line. This is where your random person came from, guaranteed. I know it happened in Houston as well.

I was in KC, that Body prop ate up some big name compeitors. I tested all 3 days, I thought the course looked easy. I was wrong, big rain Saturday caused havoc on the finals

I thought that he didn’t even apply for it and just showed up, maybe knowing somebody from casting and asking for favors. It sucks for the guy who was number 25 and didn't get to run, or even the guy who was number 10 but had to wait till much much later to run (first 10 walk ons run early). But that's just the way it is, as a walk on there are no guarantees. I've heard that even the guys who get a call have to sign something that states that there is a possibility that they will not run.

From what I heard KC was the easiest course so far All 30 finals qualifiers finished the course [ /spoiler] I'm hoping you can clear up some ambiguity for me: Do you mean 30 people cleared the qualifying (6 obstacles) course or 30 people cleared the city finals (10 obstacles) course?

Ok. Thanks for clarifying. 30 city finals clears would have been hella ridiculous... lol

From what I heard KC was the easiest course so far All 30 finals qualifiers finished the course [ /spoiler] It does seem like the producers put a lot of the Colorado people in an easier course, historically, for some reason, like the Denver Qualifier from ANW5.

Might as well try to take a few guesses at the 3 finishers.... I'm going to go with. 1. Issac Caldiero, 2. Brian Arnold 3. Dan Matzen. I hope the fellow SMF'ers did awesome though. Proud of you guys regardless.
