LOL About Ryo. An interesting perspective about it is that he sees who does what (this has been his philosophy for a long time - not just recent) and whoever does well in one tourney, he would devise a plan in the next tourney to take him down. So back in the day Yamada would do well then Inui would come up with something to trip him up in the next tourney. Same for Nagano. Recently it was same for Yuuji and by extension now.. same for Ryo. Curious what he will do to trip up Ryo. I laughed and said make all the walls to the ground and 10 times heavier.

So is the old plan to bring old obstacles back still relevant? I was looking forward to see the Body Prop back. Generally I agree with more obstacle changes but I hope the Cliffhanger will resist.

No... the plan is to get new stuff. I was just referring to the past to give an example as to his thought pattern. That doesn't preclude the rest of his team wanting to bring back old obstacles but Inui wants new stuff to reboot the series. We'll see how much he prevails in the battle with TBS.

Well, I wouldn't mind seeing the Log Grip tossed out. I didn't like the old one and I hate this one.

You can see he had that trials mentality of going as fast as possible and that's how he finished stage 1 with 33 seconds last tourney. I think maybe an overall short course which would make him think he could speed through, but with some deceptively easy obstacle that when he rushes through he'll fail or come very close to failing and would scare him.

The body prop is probably top on my list on obstacles I'd like them to bring back, not sure where it would rank on everyone else's list

Here's the ultimate twist to that: Body Prop into Iron Paddler. How the hell would that even be possible? After reaching the end of the Body Prop, the competitor reaches with their left hand to the very right edge of the bar. The competitor shuffles to the end of the Body Prop so that they can get their right hand on the bar. After this they will move their left hand to the middle of the bar and shuffle to the left until their hands grab the appropriate handles. They will then do a bar muscle-up with the awkward grip and proceed normally. EDIT: I obviously don't condone this. This is a terrible idea.

I was just going to suggest they set it up like the Banzuke Spider Walk event and have the Body Prop transition into a Spider Walk. Either way still a terrible idea

I'll take the snail over the Log Grip any day (I utterly hate the Log Grip with a passion, but you knew that already). I was thinking more in terms of bring the Rolling Log back and modifying it in some weird way like 18 - 25 Log Grip handholds?. And no, I don't want to see the drop Rolling Log from 13 - 17 comeback.

I just want to see new things. even if we find them lame later, I just want to see totally different stuff. I'd prefer the old stuff stay retired. Unless of course they start rummaging through the Viking obstacles.

I must agree. As long as it's new it's cool in my eyes until I see it go. I never exactly had a favorite obstacle... well actually I do. My favorite obstacle, the time. Anyways hope for a reborn SASUKE in SASUKE 31. *cough cough* down with the swap salmon ladder and backstream *cough cough*

Unless of course they start rummaging through the Viking obstacles. *Still is waiting on Rope Maze* - Fearful obstacle (nothing similar to it outside of its poor cousin) - Deceptive difficulty (rope getting longer as you complete the obstacle has and will trip people up) - Potential to wreck shop (lifetime completion % was just 42% and ended the first Viking tournament) Seems like a no-brainer.

Correct me if I'm wrong Arsenette, but I believe the Rope Maze would be approved by S&P
